Chapter 1105: The Hidden Place
Master Cong’s words piqued Qin Shili’s curiosity.
Right now, she indeed wanted to understand this technique; otherwise, it would always be her mental block, leaving her restless every day.
But she was unsure if Master Cong’s words were genuine.
He was a revered teacher after all, so perhaps he still held some sense of teaching ethics, or maybe he was indeed telling the truth.
Xuanyun Sect was a prestigious righteous sect, and she was among the best of the younger disciples, well-regarded by many elders, who maybe truly wanted to help her out of confusion.
But why didn’t her master, Han Fairy, come instead?
Qin Shili asked straightforwardly, “May I ask, senior, I remembered my master was also present at that time. Why would I trouble you to come here?”
“Your master, Han Fairy, although respected, may not be aware of certain matters. For instance, this place is beyond her jurisdiction. I am just assisting Master Zhao in management and was sent here upon her instructions. You can meet the Master once you’re over there; it’s just that the Master can’t make an appearance right now. So, Shili, do you perhaps doubt me?”
Master Cong smiled, his short and stout figure giving him a kind appearance.
If it were an ordinary cultivator, they would surely trust him.
But Qin Shili still harbored some suspicion. According to Han Fairy, Master Cong’s ways weren’t always good.
Of course, she had little interaction with him; that was just hearsay.
“Is this place within Tianling Mountain?”
“Yes, right here. We cultivate here without needing to go outside,” Master Cong continued smiling.
Since they were already here, she needn’t worry too much about what tricks he could pull.
If she couldn’t see Master Zhao, she’d leave immediately.
“Alright then, I’ll trouble you, senior. Please lead the way.”
“It’s no trouble; I’m just following Master Zhao’s instructions.”
Master Cong responded with a smile, and Qin Shili altered her walking route, heading west.
Meanwhile, Lin Nuo was secretly observing this scene.
That fatso had ill intentions.
Master Cong was a disciple of Zhang Yuanxu, and from the script, it seemed the Xuanyun Sect would eventually fall into Zhang Yuanxu’s hands. That surname Zhang’s cunningness was no less than that of a Demon Practitioner.
He still remembered how he was framed back then; that account would need to be settled properly.
He still didn’t grasp the current situation of Xuanyun Sect; he didn’t know when it had fallen. It was only when he had the power to challenge the righteous cultivators that Xuanyun Sect had changed.
In this world, you couldn’t even begin to imagine how sinister and dark those who preached benevolence and righteousness could be.
Lin Nuo continued to follow cautiously, each step measured to avoid detection.
Soon, Qin Shili was brought before an older, smaller hall called the Moonlit Hall. It wasn’t large, and occasionally disciples were assigned to clean it, often sending Ruo’er in his place when Lin Nuo was assigned.
As for this place, there was nothing special about it; it was just a normal building among the Tianling Mountain constructions, lacking any strong spiritual energy, let alone rare spiritual artifacts or items.
In Lin Nuo’s memory, this Moonlit Hall would be demolished in just a few months.
That meant, after his rebirth, it wouldn’t exist anymore.
So, when he had the awareness of a Demon Ruler, he hadn’t set foot here.
As for why it was being torn down, he didn’t know. The official reason was to demolish and rebuild, but after being reborn for so long, he hadn’t seen any rebuilding happening.
He had checked it out before—nothing particularly remarkable.
This did pique his interest a bit.
He was eager to see.
But since this was ultimately a dream, it was hard to determine if it resembled reality completely.
“Why here, senior? Is Master Zhao inside?” Qin Shili inquired.
“You’ll know once you go in,” Master Cong continued smiling.
“Alright.”
Qin Shili promptly entered, finding the small hall still as dilapidated as ever; even with disciples cleaning it regularly, it still didn’t look very neat.
“Where is Master Zhao?” Qin Shili asked.
“You need to keep going, Shili. Don’t be anxious. The Master is inside; he’s preparing a ritual,” Master Cong maintained his smile, but it only raised her suspicions.
She couldn’t shake the feeling that something strange was inside.
Who would come to this shabby little hall for a ritual?
She had been here before; nothing meaningful was here. Just a bit further, and it would reach the end with no exit.
Forget it; there was little distance to cover. She wanted to see what was inside as Master Cong said.
Her strength was not weak; she could handle whatever came her way.
“Okay, perhaps I was too hasty. Please continue to lead the way, senior. But as far as I know, there isn’t much further, and I haven’t seen any signs of a ritual.”
“This place is special; how could we let you easily know? The Master also has his secrets; you won’t discover it yet. Come on, we’ll be there soon.”
With a friendly smile still plastered on his face, Master Cong moved onward, and Qin Shili followed closely behind.
Lin Nuo kept on tailing them too, but he didn’t dare to get too close, lest he be discovered, alarming the snake in the grass.
Soon, after traversing a fairly short corridor, Qin Shili and company faced a solid wall.
“There’s no way forward, senior.”
“There is,” Master Cong said as he snapped his fingers, causing a door to appear on the wall—where it led was still unknown.
“Let’s go.”
He stepped inside, leaving Qin Shili hesitating at the pitch-black interior.
But she took the step forward and entered.
The door promptly shut behind her, and Lin Nuo couldn’t get in.
“Looks like that fatso has some tricks. Must be a treasure left by Zhang Yuanxu?”
Lin Nuo muttered to himself and then noticed some disciples approaching, apparently here to clean the small hall.
Time to skedaddle.
Lin Nuo whisked away, disappearing from sight.
“No way, why are we being called to clean now?”
“Right? There’s never anyone here; why do we even clean this place?”
“Just hire some servants to do it! We are inner disciples, cleaning up after ourselves. That Lin Nuo keeps dragging servants in, while others do the cleaning for her. Why is that fair?”
The disciples coming to clean grumbled, shifting their grievances toward Lin Nuo.
Lin Nuo listened on the side, thinking these people must have something wrong with their heads.
They just casually blamed him—had he used their money to support Ruo’er?
If it weren’t for fearing this dream collapsing, he would’ve given them a couple of punches by now.
At this moment, Qin Shili was still following Master Cong, who waved his hand, igniting the braziers around them, illuminating their way.
After a while, they still hadn’t seen any sight of Master Zhao.
“Senior, where’s the Master?”
Qin Shili felt increasingly uneasy and repeated the question.
“Take a look at this,” Master Cong pointed ahead, and another door opened, releasing a wave of Demon Qi.
Qin Shili immediately tensed up, a chill creeping in around her.
“Are there magical creatures?”
She readied herself for battle, but Master Cong waved his hand and chuckled:
“Don’t be alarmed. This place is just for you to experience the Demon Power you wish to engage with.”
