The phrase “It’s dangerous outside the bed” isn’t just something adults made up to scare children. Threats are lurking everywhere.
Things without bodies but not dead, sometimes they covet what they don’t have.
“Possessed? What does that mean?!”
Even if you say that, there’s no way to answer. I just saw it. Two ugly souls writhing inside that girl.
Closing my eyes, I saw a powerless girl in deep sleep. Two large evil spirits, like vines and wisteria, tightly bound her. One was young.
Whether it was actually young or just wanted to appear young, I don’t know. But it was a spirit so young it should be called a child rather than a girl.
And the other was a woman who exuded a more mature aura than any woman I’ve ever met. She seemed to have lived for a long time, yet she was young. At least, she didn’t look older than me.
Not one, but two ominous things were coiled inside her body. This is my first time experiencing something like this. But honestly, it was much more comfortable this way.
I could feel Him behind me. My spirit was naturally filled.
Rather than dealing with someone harboring evil intentions, it’s easier to face an openly ominous evil spirit.
“Got it. I just need to subdue them, right?”
“Hey, hey, little sibling. That looks dangerous. Do you really have to mess with it?”
Lady Kisea clearly didn’t want to touch it. That’s understandable. She had no part in what happened to that girl.
It wasn’t her doing, so there’s no way she’d want to clean it up herself. But Roka glanced at her.
“Ah, got it. If I have to do it, I’ll do it!”
Like everyone, Ranga had a weakness. Even to me, who’s not a wolf, it was clear how much they adored their own kind.
When Roka raised her sword, Lady Kisea had no choice but to draw hers. When Roka charged, Lady Kisea had no choice but to follow.
Thud. The girl, or rather, something occupying her body, burst out in frustration. It wasn’t a human voice but something closer to a spirit’s utterance.
-You mere mortals?!
The divine power was intensely dense. This wasn’t just an evil spirit but something that had ascended to the ranks of gods.
It was incomparable to the Death God or Blood God Atorize I had sensed before.
Could it be that what’s in front of me is…
No, even if it is, what needs to be done doesn’t change.
“Eat this!”
A crimson sunset flowed along the sword. I don’t know where Roka learned that technique, but its power was truly impressive.
The sunset severed the divine power’s stem, and a grayish power struck the girl in the gap. The girl screamed and retreated, but she wasn’t heavily injured.
It seemed her mind and body were greatly disturbed before we met. Otherwise, even two Masters wouldn’t have been able to fight so well.
Lady Kisea landed in shock.
“What kind of body is this tough? This is a sword made by the Dog Uncle… It’s not working. Are those scales legendary dragon scales?”
A sword imbued with power techniques only left a scratch. In a normal situation, it might not have even done that.
Roka’s eyes gleamed as she gathered her hands to form a sphere of sunlight. She poured the Power of the Sun into it and shot it forward. The girl calmly faced the blazing mini-sun.
-You should have just left. This isn’t a good choice.
She grabbed the small sun with both hands and crushed it with overwhelming divine power. I’m certain. This isn’t just an evil spirit but something that has ascended to the ranks of gods.
But even a god has no right to steal a human body. A god that only harms humans has no right to interfere in this world. Such a god is no different from an evil spirit.
So I decided to treat her the same way I would an evil spirit.
Lighting a single candle and holding it quietly, I asked, no, commanded the spirit that seemed ready to pounce. I invoked the authority of the one behind me.
“In the name of the Lord, I command you to reveal your name.”
She flinched and paused for a moment. She tightly closed her mouth and even covered it with both hands, desperately trying to stop the name from escaping.
Knowing a name is the minimum condition to exert power over it. I commanded not in my name, Kyle, but in the name of the Lord.
Her resistance was brief. The girl coughed and spat out a name, almost in a desperate cry.
“Y-Yanid!”
“No. I asked for your name.”
Yanid… Is that the girl’s name?
But there were still two more names I needed to know.
“Speak your name. And the name of your accomplice.”
Her face distorted. Her eyes became abnormally elongated.
Her pupils darkened, and a growling sound was heard. She tried to stop herself from speaking by choking her own neck, but the Lord’s infinite power isn’t something that can be avoided.
Even while choking, her throat writhed. Her mouth moved on its own. Finally, the names spilled out.
“Azah… adaka.”
“Azahadaka?”
“Ober… ta!”
“What, what?! Oberta! Really!”
A commotion was heard from behind. I didn’t have the leisure to look back.
Closing my eyes, I quietly requested.
“Exorcism is dangerous work. Please be quiet.”
“Ah, no, wait. Are you seriously trying to exorcise that evil god… Ah, got it. Little sibling, did you borrow money from this guy? Why do you keep…”
Fortunately, Roka quieted her sister. Opening my eyes and looking at the girl, her face was full of agitation. She muttered in disbelief.
-Azahad… aka? Who’s that? Is there someone else inside me besides me?
Then, feeling my gaze, she trembled in anger. Was she sad, distressed, or angry at the humiliation from a mere human?
-It was you. It was you! You’re the one who summoned this strange power!
But she appeared here not as a god but as an evil spirit possessing a human body. A god might have authority, but an evil spirit has none.
No matter how much power it exuded, I wasn’t afraid. It no longer mattered. I took a step forward. Where my foot touched, a clear spring formed, soon surrounding me.
When the Lord fully supports me, I fear nothing. It charged at me. Unable to step on the floor filled with holy water, it floated in the air and reached out towards me.
I wasn’t surprised. I wasn’t flustered. I simply reached out my left hand and grasped its hand. Strength against strength. Power against power. Speed against speed. By logic, this should be impossible.
But I wasn’t pushed back. Instead, I held the candle in my right hand before the girl’s eyes. It roared in desperation.
It struggled and flailed. This time, I didn’t let go. It couldn’t break free from my grip, not even strong, and it went berserk. Sometimes it tried to attack me.
-Let go, let go! Where are you grabbing! Where are you grabbing!
“Do not try to understand what you cannot comprehend. Accept what you see. In the name of truth and grace, I command you to depart. Give the place back to whom it belongs. You must humble yourself under His almighty hand.”
I faced all its attempts with prayer. In fact, it didn’t even feel like I was facing it.
I just held onto its left hand firmly and did what I had to do. Even if it spat darkness or spewed hellfire, I paid no attention. I just prayed.
“I am one who has received the gospel. The Almighty God has given me the authority to drive out demons and suppress all the power of the enemy. I can pick up snakes and drink poison without harm, and nothing will harm me now.”
The darkness passed by me helplessly. It didn’t even touch the surface, maintaining distance as it left. The flames seeped into the candle I held, adding power to the sacred flame.
Now, the girl couldn’t even move her hands. She just trembled.
-Stop! Please! This is mine! Don’t try to take it from me!
Now, her once arrogant tone was mixed with sobs.
“I am clad in the armor of righteousness, my feet shod with the gospel of peace. In my hand is the shield of faith, and in the other, the sword of the Spirit. Now, in the name of the Lord, I command you, demon, depart.”
-No, this can’t be. This is impossible. This can’t be!!
“By faith and prayer, I command you, depart!”
-This can’t beeeee!
Unable to hold on any longer, a purple energy hurriedly fled. It broke through the walls and fled far, far away.
It seemed she didn’t submit until the end, but the Lord forcibly evicted her. I don’t know where the evil god disappeared to, but one thing is certain: since she didn’t flee and held on until the last moment, she must have paid the price.
“Phew…”
Thud. My entire bottom was soaked. The moment the evil god fled, the girl lost strength and collapsed. Barely standing, I couldn’t withstand the weight of a person and fell too.
Exorcism is never easy. The Lord exerted His power, but I also had to be prepared to be exhausted. Of course, the most exhausted would be this girl, who collapsed into the reviving spring water.
“Ugh…”
The girl retched. Before she could regain consciousness, her body reacted on its own and spat something out. Gagging, she vomited something dark.
A small, wriggling something. A lizard-like creature the size of a palm. As soon as it was spat out, it tried to flee.
Thwack!
It wasn’t slow, but before it could escape my sight, a sword pierced its tail. Ranga, who had been watching from a distance, pinned it down with a sword. Then, with a smug smile, she said.
“How about that? My swordsmanship. Impressive, right?”
Are you seriously boasting about catching a lizard?
More importantly, that…
“It’s cutting off its tail and escaping.”
“Ah…! Hey, stop! Won’t you stop? Come here! If you get stabbed while sleeping later, you’ll know it’s me!”
Still, this time it didn’t get far before Roka blocked its path. Now without a tail to discard, Roka lifted a heavy sword with both hands.
If it gets hit, it’s certain death this time. Perhaps that’s why? The lizard flipped over, exposing its belly. Essentially surrendering.
“Should I kill it?”
Roka asked me without changing her expression. The lizard was startled and finally spoke.
[Alright, I surrender, okay? I surrender!]
“It talks?”
[Of course. A talking lizard. Isn’t that rare?]
Is that lizard perhaps one of the names spat out earlier, Azahadaka?
If so, maybe it knows who this child is and what exactly happened.
