Chapter 17: The Potion That’s Not Difficult at All

Chapter 17: The Potion That’s Not Difficult at All

“Here, the recovery potion you wanted. I told you I can whip these up anytime! Still don’t believe me?”

Aierjisi tossed the finished recovery potion to Yake. He had been skeptical about making potions, but Aierjisi had no choice but to take him outside the city to gather some recovery herbs, then mixed it with pure river water, and easily concocted the potion right in front of him.

“Wow! This feels like it could rival the top-grade potions made in the Royal Palace!”

Yake marveled at the potion in his hands, feeling a palpable power within it. Even a novice like him could tell this potion was at a level that wouldn’t lose to the Royal Palace’s finest. It seemed this little princess was no joke—not only could she slay dragons with ease, but she also boasted incredible alchemical skills!

“Well, if you ever need potions, just let me know. As your master, it’s my duty to provide my servants with handy items.”

Aierjisi casually twirled her golden hair with her fingers, but felt a strange disconnect since her awakening—almost as if that golden hair didn’t belong to her. Yet, her memories told her it had always been this way since birth. It was really puzzling!

“Ah, then I’ll be counting on you for potions in the future.”

Yake carefully placed the potion in his bag, treating it with the same reverence as if it were gold coins—definitely something to cherish!

“Since we have no more business here, let’s hurry back to the town. I haven’t had enough fun yet!”

Aierjisi began urging Yake to return; she was still eager to play in the town.

“Sure, let’s head back. By the way, what do you plan to do about that giant dragon?”

As Yake contemplated how to win over the little princess, he suddenly remembered they had to deal with that dragon before entering the town. If it remained in town, it would definitely attract unwanted attention, which he wanted to avoid.

“Oh, the dragon? We can leave it for now. Dragon bodies are valuable materials! Depending on how they’re used, they can be turned into potions that strengthen the body, made into magic devices or even weapons. I’m not planning to touch it until absolutely necessary.”

Aierjisi had known about the power and value of dragons since she was a child. The dragon race had often been eyed by other races, especially humans who made up the majority on this continent. Her father told her that long ago, when the Eastern human kingdom was still around, its ruler spearheaded a dragon hunt that nearly wiped out the eastern dragon race. This angered the Eastern Sea Dragon King, who teamed up with the Ice Dragon from the north, the Earth Dragon from the west, and the Fire Dragon from the south to annihilate that human kingdom. The king had even witnessed his people suffering through freezing, drowning, and burning—all while the Earth Dragon King sunk his kingdom into the sea, wiping out generations of hard work! After that catastrophe, humans learned their lesson and no longer dared to provoke dragons.

“I see. Just remember, if you decide to handle that dragon, it’s best to do it outside where no one is around. Dealing with it in town would be a hassle.”

Knowing Aierjisi wasn’t planning on dealing with the dragon immediately, Yake didn’t oppose; he just advised the princess not to handle dragons in the town to avoid unnecessary trouble.

“Got it! It’s what they call ‘making a fortune quietly’, right? Don’t worry; even without you telling me, I wouldn’t handle a dragon in town. It’s too cramped anyway!”

Aierjisi nodded her head. Even without Yake’s warning, she wouldn’t think of dealing with a dragon in the town—it simply wouldn’t work.

Feeling reassured by her response, Yake led her back to the town. As they entered, a guard who had halted them before couldn’t help but joke with Aierjisi, even giving her a piece of fruit candy.

“Hmph! How rude! Only one candy? At least twenty should be the starting point!”

Aierjisi popped the candy into her mouth, enjoying its sweetness, while Yake trailed behind her with an awkward smile.

<So she really cares about the number of candies and not the candy itself?>

Considering Aierjisi’s age of 1100 years, Yake thought she wouldn’t be interested in child-like treats from human society.

“So boring, Yake! Are there any fun places in this town?”

Aierjisi wandered ahead, her curiosity piqued by most things around her, but it was fleeting. Once she understood their purpose, her interest waned. After wandering for a while, she found nothing engaging and urged Yake to take her somewhere fun.

“Fun places… I’m afraid there aren’t any around here.”

Yake scratched his head awkwardly. Chester Town was just a small border town. The capital viewed it as lacking potential, so there weren’t many entertainment facilities. The kids just played in the streets with friends, and adults were all busy with their own lives. There was nothing to entertain someone like Aierjisi, an outsider.

“Is there a library here?”

Aierjisi took a step back and asked if there was a library in town. Since there was nothing entertaining, she figured she might as well look for something interesting to read, as she often did in the Royal Palace when boredom struck.

“There’s no library, but there is a bookshop. I can’t say if they have anything you’d like, though.”

Yake mentioned that Chester Town had a bookshop where Xier frequently bought books to study. Unlike him, who couldn’t focus on reading at all.

“Then let’s hurry over there!”

Whatever it was—a library or a bookshop—if it had books, that was good enough! Aierjisi ordered Yake to take her there at once.
