Chapter 28: Everything Develops for Laziness
“By the way, why did you suddenly want to take this exam?”
On the way home, carrying Aierjisi on his back, Yake wanted to ask her why she wanted to become an Adventurer. With her terrifying level of Magic, she could easily become a magic teacher in the royal capital, and the pay would be so much better than this risky profession where you’re always on the edge. Generally, those who want to be Adventurers don’t have much skill and are just in it for the money. Only a few are in it for the thrill of adventure.
“Well, it’s nothing special. I just thought that if I could become an Adventurer, it would make my future travels around the world a bit more convenient.”
Aierjisi said while lying on Yake’s back.
“Is that really all?”
“Yep, that’s it. As a Princess of the Blood Clan, I must take on the responsibility of revitalizing the Blood Clan. For that, I need an identity that allows me to travel around the world without issues.”
To achieve her goals, Aierjisi needed to build a stable foundation first. If she continued to operate under an ambiguous identity, it would likely bring unnecessary trouble in the future. Thus, a reasonable identity was essential.
“Okay then. What’s your plan next?”
Yake asked about her future plans. As the current servant of this little Princess, his life was entwined with hers. So, Aierjisi’s matters were his matters too.
“First, I plan to go back to my hometown. I’m really curious about the sudden disappearance of the Blood Clan.”
Having finished reading the history book he had brought back from the study, Aierjisi had hoped to find some clues, but in the end, it was all in vain. The book didn’t record how the Blood Clan had vanished; it only mentioned that on a certain night 300 years ago, the Blood Clan living in the west, along with the city they built, disappeared from the continent. Therefore, Aierjisi decided to return to her hometown in person; perhaps she could find some clues at the remnants of her past home.
“I see. So when are you planning to set off?”
“No rush. I want to enjoy life in this small town for a little while longer.”
Reviving the Blood Clan was indeed important, but before that, Aierjisi decided to take some time to enjoy her life in the human city. Meanwhile, she’d sort through the fragments of memories that felt out of place to see if she could gather any new information.
“Alright. But if you want to enjoy life, I suggest you head over to the big city next door for some fun. The metropolitan there is nothing compared to Chester Town.”
Yake suggested that Aierjisi go have some fun in the nearby big city. It was a commercial hub where many Adventurers visited to sell their loot for a good price. The prices offered by merchants there would satisfy most Adventurers. Plus, Yake could use the 50 Gold Coins he had to buy sturdier and more useful gear, after all, he would be venturing with this little Princess and who knows what monsters they might encounter. Having better equipment was crucial for his survival. He also thought about getting some new furniture for home, maybe giving it a little makeover.
“A big city, huh? I’ll consider it.”
Aierjisi nodded. If they went to the big city, they would likely gather more useful information and maybe even encounter other Blood Clan brethren. Since she could live in this reality, there must be other Blood Clan members still alive. Aierjisi believed firmly in that.
“We’re back.”
Returning to her familiar home, Yake opened the door and announced, “We’re back!” as they walked inside.
“Welcome home. Yake, Little Aier, I need your help with something.”
Reina emerged from the kitchen with a serious expression directed at the two who had just arrived home.
“Huh? Mom, what’s the matter? You’re looking so serious.”
Seeing their usually smiling mother now wearing such a serious face made Yake frown; it felt like something big had happened. Aierjisi stood silently, waiting for Reina to explain what she needed.
“Actually, it’s not a big deal. I just need you to help me move the stuff out of the storage room; I plan to clean and organize it properly.”
“That’s it?”
After hearing his mother’s words, Yake’s eyes widened. He had thought his mother looked so serious because there was some major crisis to deal with. And it turned out to be this?
“Yep, that’s it. If possible, I would have liked to manage it myself with Xier. But some things are too heavy for just the two of us, so I have to rely on you guys. Hurry up, Little Aier, you help out too!”
Reina patted Yake’s back and pushed him toward the backyard storage.
“Geez, it’s just organizing a storage room. Why all the seriousness?”
Yake grumbled as he headed toward the storage room.
“No, I totally understand. If the storage isn’t being used regularly, it’s fine, but once you start organizing it, it can become a headache.”
Aierjisi remembered how exhausting it was when her father had asked her to organize the mess she had made of the books when she was little. It was something most servants would handle. It was perfectly normal for Reina to assign such work to her family.
“Huh? Is it really that dramatic? It’s just moving things out.”
“Easy for you to say! You should try doing it yourself later. Look, Xier is already starting to move things out.”
Aierjisi pointed at the storage door where Xier was busy moving things outside into the open area.
“Finally, you guys are back! Hurry up and help me!”
Xier noticed Yake and Aierjisi, urging them over for assistance; she couldn’t handle all the stuff in the storage alone.
“Coming!”
Yake could only gear up and start working seriously. He walked into the storage to help Xier pull out some of the smaller items first.
“Um… why don’t you two just step aside? Let me handle it all by myself.”
Aierjisi stood at the door, suggesting Yake and Xier take a break while she cast a spell. She used her hands, reciting incantations, and controlled the items in the storage to make them float. Aierjisi effortlessly waved her hands, moving those heavy things outside without breaking a sweat.
“Impressive! Magic is definitely amazing. It’s useful in both battles and daily life.”
Watching this little Princess accomplish in minutes what would take him a whole day made Yake quite envious. How wonderful it would be if he could learn magic one day!
“You want to learn? I can teach you. It’s not that hard of a spell. I learned it in about three minutes.”
