Chapter 41: Find Me a Place to Sleep
“No… The clues you mentioned are way too vague! And what the heck are Blue Leopards and Cyclops? Are you sure you’re not pulling my leg?”
Yin grimaced as she looked at the Little Princess. The characteristics she just described—someone in black clothes wearing glasses—were a dime a dozen in this city. As for the Blue Leopard and Cyclops, what on earth were those?
“I’m serious! Yake, you saw those four guys earlier, right? They were screaming in agony from my magic attacks!”
Seeing that Yin didn’t believe her, the Little Princess had to turn to Yake for backup.
“Huh? Uh… Miss Yin. Everything Aier said is true. As for what the attacker looked like, I didn’t see clearly. But I definitely got a good look at that Blue Leopard and Cyclops!”
Called over by the Little Princess, Yake also backed up Aier’s claims.
“Hmm… Alright, since you both said so, I’ll note it down. But where did those attackers go? Didn’t you use magic to make them scream? You should have subdued them by now, right?”
Yin continued to press, since Aier had claimed earlier that her magic had taken them down.
“Uh… unfortunately, they managed to escape.”
Aier had to confess to Yin that those attackers had gotten away.
“Escaped? Are you sure?”
Yin furrowed her brow, clearly skeptical of the Little Princess’s claim. It was hard to convince her of such an obviously fabricated story.
“Of course, we confirmed they got away, that’s why we came here. Isn’t that right, Yake?”
Seeing that Yin was adamant about not believing her, the Little Princess was getting a bit irritated. She had been telling the truth—why wouldn’t this woman believe her?
“Miss Yin. I assure you, what Aier just said is the truth. We wanted to check if they were blasted to bits by magic. But when we got there, we found no bodies, just some residual blood.”
Yake joined in to support Aier, pointing to the grove behind them, confirming that what Aier said was indeed true.
“Hmm? Then take me there to check it out.”
“Sure. Yake, stay here. I’ll take Yin over.”
“Okay. You two better hurry back. We don’t know what else might happen in that grove.”
Yake reminded the Little Princess to return quickly after confirming the scene.
“Here we are. You see, there are still bloodstains on the ground and the ice spikes I created.”
Aier led Yin to the crime scene, and just as she had said, there were indeed only bloodstains left on the ground, nothing more.
“Hmm. Alright, I believe you now. But how did they escape?”
“About that, I’m curious too! They were hit by my blinding magic and plant magic attacks, losing their sight and movement. How did they get away in that state? I really want to know.”
As for how A Jie and the others escaped, Aier had a guess: maybe the Adrian People rescued them. But she couldn’t mention them to Yin.
“Hmm. Wait a second, let me collect this blood sample. Maybe I can track down those attackers with this.”
Yin pulled out a piece of paper and dabbed it in the blood on the ground. If she brought this back for research, she could find out who exactly destroyed the inn.
“Uh, Miss Yin, there’s something I’m not sure whether to say or not.”
“What is it? Go ahead.”
Yin carefully put the paper into her bag and turned to look at the Little Princess, wanting to know what she had to say.
“It’s just… it’s late, and the inn was just destroyed, and Yake and I have nowhere to sleep tonight. Do you think you could help us find a place to stay? Of course, we’ll pay.”
Aier looked a bit embarrassed at Yin. Honestly, asking this woman she wasn’t too fond of for help made her feel uncomfortable.
But it couldn’t be helped. Yin had quite a bit of power in this city. Plus, given her connection with the City Lord, she probably wouldn’t refuse a request like this.
“Hmm. It’s not impossible to help you find a place to stay. Just don’t get your hopes up too high; it’s pretty late, and whether other inns have vacancies is still a question.”
Yin looked up at the moon. It was probably just around 1 AM, and since Pield was a commercial city, many merchants often stayed here overnight.
“Hmm. If there really isn’t any, it’s fine. Yake and I can just camp on the street. After all, we just bought a tent and some camping gear.”
“Alright. Then come with me. I’ll take you to look around other inns.”
Yin turned around and had the Little Princess and Yake get into the horse-drawn carriage, telling the driver a few other inn locations to check if any of these places had available rooms.
“We regret to inform you, our inn has no vacancies.”
“Sorry, we’re fully booked for today.”
“We truly apologize, but we have no more available rooms.”
After asking several places, each inn responded with the same bad news: no vacancies.
This left the Little Princess and Yake feeling quite distressed. They had just fought hard in the woods, hoping to find an inn to take a nice hot bath and sleep comfortably in a bed. But at this point, it seemed they would have to find a spot in the city to camp out tonight.
“Hmm… Looks like these inns have no vacancies at all.”
Once they entered the last inn, finding out it had no vacancies as well, Yin rested her chin on her hand, deep in thought.
“If there are no vacancies, then forget it. We can just find a spot to camp tonight.”
“No. Just wait a minute. I have another place I can arrange for you two to rest tonight. And I can assure you, it’s safe!”
“Oh? Really? Where is this place?”
Hearing that Yin could provide a safe spot to rest, Aier became curious about where this place could possibly be.
