Chapter 44: The Little Princess Who Loves Mischief
In order to allow the City Lord to rest in peace, Yin made preparations for a sleepless night, ready to deal with any incidents that might occur in Bield City tonight.
However, unexpectedly, nothing new happened this evening. Bield was as quiet as a regular night, and only when the morning sun successfully rose did Yin feel relieved. After instructing the guards at the entrance on what to watch for, she returned to the City Lord’s Mansion to rest.
“Ah! I had such a good sleep! The conditions here at the City Lord’s Mansion are not bad at all!”
Two hours after Yin had gone to sleep, Aierjisi finally woke up from her dreams and stretched lazily.
“Yake, Yake, how long are you planning to sleep? It’s time to get up; the sun is already shining on your butt!”
Seeing Yake still fast asleep on the sofa, Aierjisi ran over, patted his backside, and yelled to wake him.
“Ah… stop it! Let me sleep a little longer; I haven’t rested enough!”
Yake just waved his hand casually, asking Aierjisi to stop bothering him. He had just fallen asleep after being kept up so late last night and needed a bit more sleep.
“Ugh… you slacker! Fine, since you’re my servant and I’m a magnanimous person, I’ll make an exception and let you sleep a bit longer. I’m going to wash up first.”
Aierjisi looked at Yake affectionately and left the room.
“Good morning, Miss Aierjisi. How did you sleep last night?”
As soon as she opened the door to the rest room, the maid on duty greeted her, inquiring about her sleep.
“Yeah. It was really comfortable. Thank you! If it’s not too much trouble, can you show me where the bathroom is? I still don’t know where it is.”
“Of course. Please follow me.”
The maid curtseyed while holding her skirt and led Aierjisi to the nearest bathroom.
“Here it is. I won’t go in. If you need anything, just call for me.”
“Okay, thank you! If only that guy Yake could be half as dedicated as you, I wouldn’t have to struggle so much.”
Seeing this diligent artificial maid, Aierjisi pondered if she should also take some time to be more proactive.
That Yake, clearly her servant, didn’t act like one at all. Even when she was up and about, that guy was still lying in bed, snoring away. It was truly outrageous!
“Thank you for your compliments. It is my utmost honor.”
The maid remained expressionless, unable to show even a hint of happiness, but this was a flaw typical of artificial beings. Their expressions were rigid, lacking the rich emotional nuances that humans had naturally. Aierjisi didn’t mind, walked into the bathroom, and began to attend to her physiological needs.
“Alright. I can find my way back myself; no need for you to lead me. You must be tired standing at the door all night, so go take a good rest.”
“No. We do not have the need to rest. Our resting functions are quite different from yours.”
For artificial beings, as long as they stayed still for a while, their bodily recovery functions would activate automatically. So the maid had actually enjoyed a good night’s sleep alongside them.
“Is that so? Well, you can go do other tasks now. It’s still morning, and the City Lord’s Mansion must be busy. There must be many people who need your help.”
Aierjisi patted the maid’s shoulder, then followed the path back to the rest room.
“Yake, are you still sleeping? It’s been at least half an hour; it’s time for you to get up.”
Upon returning to the rest room, Aierjisi looked at Yake snoring away and felt a twinge of real anger.
“zzz…”
Yake didn’t hear Aierjisi’s words, still lost in his dreams.
“Forget it. Forget it. Who am I to hold a grudge? I’ll let it go…”
Originally planning to give Yake a Lightning Fist, Aierjisi ultimately decided against it and obediently sat on the bed, watching Yake’s sleeping face.
Now that she was so close, observing Yake’s features up close, she thought that this guy actually looked quite handsome. It seemed Reina wasn’t wrong; Yake was indeed a little heartthrob who just didn’t care about his appearance. How could he carry on like this as her servant?
“Let me take some time to groom my servant properly. When you wake up, remember to thank me, Yake.”
“zzz…”
Aierjisi took out some decorative items she had previously bought from a shop and started to style Yake’s hair while he slept.
Twenty minutes later…
“Mm! Perfect, just as I expected! Now, Yake’s handsome looks are totally on display!”
Looking at the results of her work on Yake, the little princess couldn’t help but giggle.
Though she didn’t do much, just tidying up his hair and leaving a small braid, Yake’s usual disheveled appearance was greatly improved.
“Though Yake really can sleep; even after all this, he’s still not awake. In that case, hehehe.”
Seeing that Yake was still sleeping, Aierjisi mischievously pulled out a set of watercolor markers she bought out of boredom and began to draw on his face. With her mindset now like an ordinary little girl, she couldn’t resist the chance for mischief.
“Ha! Hahaha! Hahahaha!!!”
Watching her masterpiece appear on Yake’s face, Aierjisi giggled uncontrollably. She was truly a genius to effortlessly create a cat face on Yake!
“Hmm… so noisy. Aier, what’s going on? Did something happy happen? You’re laughing so hard.”
Awakened by Aierjisi’s boisterous laughter, Yake rubbed his eyes and sat up.
“Ah? Nothing. Just… haha! No, I can’t! You should go check out your face in the mirror, hehe!!!”
Aierjisi initially wanted to lie to slip past him, but Yake’s current expressions were just too entertaining, and she couldn’t stop laughing at him.
“My face? Is there something on my face?”
Yake pulled out a hand mirror from Subspace and examined his reflection.
“Ah!!!”
In the next moment, Yake let out a scream like a surprised groundhog.
