Chapter 64: Your Speed is Only This Much
“Answer me, why do you want to harm these citizens? They have no enmity with you, right?”
Staring at A Jie not far away, the City Lord questioned him in a deep voice.
“Why would I harm them? The answer is simple! These guys just annoy me! Every day, us thieves struggle to survive, while each one of these idiots has a disgustingly blissful smile on their faces. It makes me want to puke! So, I just killed them.”
A Jie didn’t offer any justification for his actions. He simply couldn’t stand the sight of their happiness, so he took it upon himself to kill them. Nothing else to say.
“I see. You’re one of those sociopathic types. I was hoping we could settle this through conversation, but it seems there’s no room for negotiation now.”
The City Lord squinted at A Jie. There’s no need for dialogue with a sociopathic terrorist! They just needed to be wiped out with all possible force.
“There was never any room for negotiation! From the start, I intended to take you down, City Lord. Those nauseating folks were just a bonus!”
The City Lord’s thoughts aligned perfectly with A Jie’s. He was in this fight for life or death; if he had to live so lowly, he’d rather fight the City Lord!
“Oh? Have we met before? Why do you want to kill me?”
Hearing A Jie’s words, the City Lord was puzzled. He was a shut-in who didn’t leave the City Lord’s Mansion for a year, let alone meet A Jie. Why did the guy want to kill him?
“Ha. My dear City Lord, we haven’t met, but isn’t this your territory? Don’t you remember the good deeds you did in the Old District? Or have you grown senile? If so, I recommend you step down soon; don’t continue as City Lord.”
A Jie mocked the City Lord with a sneer.
“Old District. Ah, I see, you’re the thief living there.”
The City Lord suddenly remembered after A Jie mentioned it. He had indeed arranged for Yin to clean out the ‘mice’ in the Old District. Plus, this guy’s hatred for him was probably a survivor of that escapade.
“That’s right! We were living fine there until your reason made my big brother and the others burn to death in that woman’s flames! So, I can’t spare you guys from the bottom of my heart!”
Recalling that tragic day made A Jie’s emotions spiral out of control. The killer of his brother stood before him; he couldn’t hold back his urge to take revenge any longer.
“I see, that explains your motive for wanting to kill me. But, young man, just like you, I can’t forgive you for killing my lovely citizens! So, I will seek justice for them!”
The City Lord wasn’t intimidated by A Jie’s rage at all. That guy’s anger was just a commoner’s wrath, nothing to be taken seriously.
“Then let’s see you try! Attack! Take down that stinky old man!”
A Jie commanded his three magical beasts to attack the City Lord!
“City Lord!”
Yin rushed in front of the City Lord just in time to block the assault of the three magical beasts.
“What can one person like you do? We have the numerical advantage!”
Indeed, as A Jie said, Yin alone couldn’t contend with him and three magical beasts.
But that was only if the City Lord had no reinforcements.
“Ah? Did I just hear something about having the numerical advantage? Yake, did you hear that?”
“Yeah, I heard it too.”
Aierjisi and Yake also launched attacks to support Yin, restraining the three magical beasts.
“You two! I’ve wanted to deal with you for a long time, so let’s take you out together.”
Seeing reinforcements on the City Lord’s side, A Jie was practically fuming. And those two reinforcements were people he found equally annoying. Losing his cool, he joined the fight.
“Yake, which one do you want to fight?”
Before the battle started, Aierjisi asked Yake which magical beast he wanted to take on.
“Uh? I’ll go for that leopard. I can’t handle the giant, and I can’t hit the bird either.”
Yake thought for a moment and decided to choose an opponent he felt he could actually handle.
“Fine. What about you, Miss Yin?”
“I’ll hold off the giant for now. I can’t deal with that flying bird either.”
Like Yake, Yin also had no way to solve the problem of the flying beast.
“Alright, looks like I’ll have to handle that bird now.”
With the giant and the leopard already chosen, Aierjisi could only go after the remaining bird.
“What are you staring at, airport? Never seen such a beautiful bird before?”
Feeling Aierjisi’s intense gaze, the bird was quite uncomfortable. It casually mocked her flat chest.
“Damn, this bird can actually talk? And so fluently?!”
Aierjisi was shocked by the fact that this bird could speak human language, forgetting that she should’ve been angry at its previous jab about her being an airport.
“Hehe, what’s up, first time seeing me, huh?”
The bird puffed out its chest proudly.
“Aier, it’s just a talking bird, nothing special. Hurry up and deal with it.”
“Oh…”
Reminded by Yake, Aierjisi came back to her senses.
Right, I’m supposed to be in a hostile relationship with this bird! I need to take this stinky bird down! How did I even think of capturing it as a pet momentarily?
“What’s up, airport girl? Want to fight? I won’t be scared of you.”
“You called me airport just now, didn’t you?”
Aierjisi didn’t let the ‘airport’ jab pass this time. Daring to mock her as an airport? In three days, I’ll scatter your ashes!
“Isn’t that the case? Your chest is so flat.”
The bird tilted its head and scrutinized Aierjisi’s chest area intentionally.
“Very well, it seems I’m going to kill you today.”
Aierjisi revealed a terrifying smile, making the bird feel as if the surrounding temperature dropped considerably.
“If you can catch me, then go ahead and try.”
The bird spread its wings and soared into the sky. There’s no way that little girl could reach her from the ground!
“Is your speed only this much?”
While the bird thought Aierjisi could only stare at it from the ground, suddenly, a voice whispered in its ear, making it flinch and quickly fly to the left while checking its previous spot.
What the heck! When did that girl get up here? And she can actually match my speed?!
