Chapter 66: It’s Me, So What?
Confirming that the City Lord left the City Lord’s Mansion as planned, tossing Gold Coins on the street like in previous years, A Jie and his three Magical Beasts began their operation.
However, before making their move, they found an unattended shop and quickly raided it, cleaning out all the Food within.
“Whew. This meal is amazing! My stomach is about to burst. Bro, how about you?”
Bird peered down at the Leopard, who was munching away on the ground. The Leopard merely lifted its head, showing off its fangs as if to say, “I’m eating here, quit bothering me!”
“Oh, fine. I won’t disturb you then. Hey, big guy over there, how’s your meal? Is it enough to fill you up to eight parts? Ah, wait, it’s me! I’m not your food! Look properly!”
Seeing the Leopard’s attitude, Bird wisely decided not to press further and instead flew up to perch on the Giant’s shoulder.
The Giant was also stuffing Food into his mouth and, in a careless moment, clutched the Bird in his hand, ready to feed it to himself. Thankfully, the Bird squawked loudly enough that the Giant let it go.
“Phew. You almost scared me to death! I could have been the next meal of one of my own! Big guy, can you pay more attention while eating? I’m actually terrified here!”
After narrowly escaping death, the Bird grumbled at the Giant.
“Shut up, silly bird! If you keep talking like that, we won’t have any appetite left!”
Even A Jie couldn’t tolerate the level of chatter from the Bird anymore. It wouldn’t stop talking!
“Oh, my master, you must not know, I’m the brain of the team! My role is crucial. If you lose me, these two idiots can’t do anything!”
“I already told you to shut up! Can’t you hear?”
A Jie slammed his fist on the table, urging the Bird to close its beak.
“Alright, I’ll stop talking.”
Seeing that A Jie genuinely seemed angry, the Bird promptly complied.
“How are you all doing? We need to get moving soon; it’s time for that City Lord to pay the price.”
After filling up in the deserted shop, A Jie led the three Magical Beasts towards the street where the City Lord was.
As for clever schemes? None required at this moment. With the power granted by the mysterious figure and these three Magical Beasts, a straightforward approach was all that was needed. And even if he couldn’t kill the City Lord, he could create significant chaos in Pield, slaughtering the citizens he found disgusting. No matter the outcome, he’d find satisfaction.
Meanwhile, Aierjisi and Yake followed closely behind the City Lord’s entourage. The City Lord and Yin were aware of their presence.
“Are we just going to follow them like this? Aren’t we supposed to keep an eye on the surroundings?”
Yake asked the Little Princess about the current situation.
“No need. We just follow silently. The City Lord knows we’re here, and with Yin around him, our defensive line is sufficient to handle any sudden developments.”
“Okay then.”
After Aierjisi’s explanation, Yake fell silent, resting his hand on his Sword while infusing it with Magic Power, ready to retaliate at the first sign of enemies.
“Let’s make our move.”
Upon reaching a slightly more populated street, A Jie noticed the citizens waiting for the City Lord’s arrival and decided it was the starting point for today’s slaughter.
“Alright, big guy, this is your battleground! Ha ha ha! Let the real party begin!”
As Bird’s voice faded, the Giant charged into the crowd, raising his hands and unleashing a brutal assault on the terrified citizens.
In an instant, the citizens who were pondering how many Gold Coins they would gather this year were turned to pulp beneath the Giant’s rampage, while others screamed in panic, attempting to flee, only to be caught by the Leopard, who swiftly bit their legs off.
“Hmm, what delightful screams! What do you think, Boss?”
“Ah, I’m enjoying it too.”
Bird reveled in the sounds of the citizens’ screams and wails. A Jie shared the same feeling. Hearing those disgusting people produce such pitiful cries was simply blissful!
On the other side, news of the attacks had reached the City Lord’s group.
“The attackers are a person, a bird, a Leopard, and a Giant?”
Upon hearing the Guards report about the attackers, Yin’s eyes widened. This matched exactly what Aierjisi had said before, though unfortunately, she hadn’t believed it at the time.
“Yes, that’s right. They’re currently attacking citizens, and several of our Guards have already been killed by them. We need your command, City Lord.”
“Right. Have the other Guards evacuate the civilians immediately. We can’t allow more casualties. Yin, come with me; let’s deal with the attackers. You two want to come along too?”
The City Lord turned to Aierjisi and Yake, who had been hanging back. It was his duty as City Lord to confront invaders; they weren’t obligated to join the fight.
“Of course! You’ve done so much for us, City Lord, let us repay you by joining this fight!”
“Yeah, and besides, this enemy is also related to our own enemies, so we’ll join this battle too.”
“Is that so? Then thank you! Let’s go teach those ignorant invaders a lesson!”
“Oh!”
According to the intel from the Guards, the City Lord, along with Yin, made their way toward the chaos.
“Just a petty thief, how dare you act so arrogant!”
Just as A Jie and his crew were enjoying their destruction, Yin drove her Horse-drawn Carriage right in front of them.
“Oh? Looks like a serious character has arrived! Boss, do you know her? She’s quite a beauty, huh?”
Bird perched on the Giant’s shoulder, teasing Yin.
“That woman is Yin, the law enforcer of this city. She’s also the one who killed my brother.”
A Jie glared at Yin with gritted teeth. Perfect timing—he had been meaning to deal with this woman, and she had conveniently come right to his doorstep, saving him a lot of trouble.
“Did you do all of this?”
Yin surveyed the devastation around them with a cold gaze fixed on A Jie.
“That’s right, it was me. So what? If you’re not happy, why don’t you just try to chop off my head now?”
A Jie showed no fear of Yin, instead provoking her defiantly.
“If that’s how you want to die, then I’ll gladly fulfill that wish now.”
Yin drew her sword, ready to charge.
“Wait a moment, Yin.”
Just as she was about to rush in, the City Lord stopped her. He personally stepped out of the carriage and approached A Jie.
