Chapter 74: Let Me Take a Bite
Aierjisi opened her mouth and bit down hard on Yake’s neck.
“Ow!”
A sudden pain shot through Yake’s neck, and he let out a startled cry.
“Aier, what are you doing? Are you drinking my blood?”
Yake looked at Aierjisi, suddenly realizing he had leaned his head closer. Considering the earlier pain, it was likely the Little Princess was indeed sipping on his blood. If any other Blood Clan member dared to taste his blood, Yake would probably slap them away without a second thought. But now, it was Aierjisi, his master. Yake didn’t dare to show her any disrespect.
“Ah, I’ve had my fill. Thank you for the treat. How do you feel, Yake? A little dizzy, perhaps?”
After about half a minute of feeding, Aierjisi had enough blood to heal her wounds. She happily released her bite.
“I feel okay, I guess. Just a bit of pain.”
Yake cradled his neck where the Little Princess had bitten him. Seriously, couldn’t she be a bit gentler when biting? What if she accidentally severed his neck?
“The pain is merely temporary; just endure it a bit. By the way, we seem to have underestimated that Alien Creature.”
“What do you mean?”
“We thought that creature, like the previous Magical Beasts, was mindless and acted only on instinct. But that was a mistake. When it saw me approaching with the Magic Shield, it concentrated its laser attack on that one area of the shield and successfully broke through it, causing me significant injury.”
Aierjisi pointed to her waist, where the wounds from the laser were visibly healing, likely due to the blood she had just consumed from Yake.
“If that’s the case, doesn’t that make it harder to deal with?”
After hearing Aierjisi’s explanation, Yake’s expression grew more troubled. Not only did this Alien Creature possess strong combat abilities, but it also demonstrated some level of intelligence, capable of adapting to the battlefield.
How on earth were they supposed to defeat such a foe?
“Don’t worry. Just now, I was already thinking of a strategy. If what it shoots from its eyes is indeed laser and not something else.”
Aierjisi had already devised a plan based on the knowledge she gained from the animations she watched back on Earth. However, for the strategy to succeed, they needed to confirm whether the Alien Creature was indeed firing lasers.
“Yake, can you go out and lure it to attack you? Ideally, let its lasers hit that window over there.”
Aierjisi pointed at a shop window across the street. Glass reflects light well, making it the perfect choice to determine if it was a laser or something else.
“Uh, I can do that, but how will you confirm it?”
“Quit asking questions and just go!”
Aierjisi gave Yake a kick, sending him out into the street.
The Alien Creature was still searching for the hiding City Lord when Yake boldly appeared before it.
“OHHHH!”
Thinking, “If the Lord can’t find me, I’ll just take out this annoying guy first,” the Alien let out another roar and shot a laser beam at Yake.
“I’ll dodge!”
Yake executed a perfect aerial Thomas full spin, narrowly avoiding the Alien’s attack as the lasers struck the glass instead.
Those lasers reflected off the glass, changing direction and hitting the street below.
“Good. It seems that thing definitely shoots lasers. Now it’s time for us to counterattack. Yake, good job, your part is done. Come back!”
“Oh! Thank goodness this is over so quickly!”
Yake hurriedly returned to Aierjisi’s side, switching places with her; now it was her turn to battle the Alien Creature.
“I’m coming for you, monster! Prepare yourself!!”
Aierjisi opened her Magic Shield to block the Alien’s laser attacks as she advanced toward it.
Seeing that Aierjisi was still approaching with no lessons learned, the Alien sneered, concentrating its lasers on a single point to attack her shield.
“Now’s my chance! Bow before the exalted power of Hanno!!”
Right before the shield shattered, Aierjisi conjured a mirror to block her. When the Magic Shield broke, the lasers struck the mirror, being fully absorbed by it.
“???”
The Alien was left dumbfounded. What in the world was that?!
Before it could react, Aierjisi unleashed all the absorbed lasers back at the Alien, obliterating it into a pile of mush.
“Phew, that worked! Truly, knowledge is power.”
After seeing the Alien fall to her trickery, Aierjisi relaxed and knelt down, her magic nearly depleted from creating the mirror, shield, and healing her wounds. Thankfully, this move succeeded in taking it out; otherwise, she would have been in serious trouble.
“Wow, you did it, Aier! Nicely done!”
Seeing the Little Princess had successfully taken out the Alien, Yake no longer hid and moved to her side to celebrate their victory.
“Yeah…”
Aierjisi suddenly blacked out and collapsed.
“Aier?! What’s wrong?!”
Seeing the Little Princess faint, Yake was startled. He rushed to pick her up and check on her condition.
“She probably just used too much magic in that fight, causing her to faint. Let’s find her a place to rest.”
The City Lord emerged from who-knows-where, relieved that the crisis had passed with the Alien defeated.
“Thank goodness it was just exhaustion from using magic. I thought she had been injured in battle and hadn’t healed yet. Speaking of which, City Lord, where on earth were you? Why did you only show up after the fight was over?”
Yake looked displeased at the City Lord. If only he had helped, the Little Princess wouldn’t be so worn out.
“Um… well, I couldn’t handle that Alien, so I found a safe place to hide. After all, I’m the City Lord; I can’t just up and die, can I? *Cough cough*.”
The City Lord blushed, coming up with a flimsy excuse for his cowardice.
“Huh? A City Lord running away? Forget it; I can’t waste time arguing that with you. Let’s just hurry and find a place for Aier to rest.”
Yake understood that the City Lord wasn’t a warrior. It’s only natural for ordinary people to want to flee when facing such an Alien, so he held no grudges against him.
“Don’t worry; I’ll take care of it. Follow me.”
The City Lord led Yake to find Aierjisi a quiet place to rest, something easily done thanks to his status.
