Chapter 77: Well, Thank You Very Much!

“That’s all I had to say to you. Do you have any other questions? As the one who brought you to this world, I have a duty to answer.”

Gabriel finished laying out the tasks he assigned to Aierjisi, waiting for her to throw questions his way. It’s only natural for her to have a mountain of questions after just arriving in this world, right?

“Well, yes, I definitely have some questions for you.”

“Go ahead. I’ll do my best to answer them.”

Gabriel was all set to tackle Aierjisi’s inquiries.

“Then let me ask this first. Why were we brought here? We’re just regular folks living on Earth, without any powers to save the world.”

This was the question Aierjisi just couldn’t wrap her mind around. Why her and the other players?

“Ah, so you started with that question. I anticipated you’d ask this, so let me explain why I chose you so-called powerless ordinary people.”

Gabriel had expected this question. In fact, they had their reasons for choosing these so-called ordinary folks.

“The reason we chose you is because you possess great strength in other areas.”

“In other areas? Like what?”

Aierjisi looked completely confused. Ever since she was shoved into this body, she’d been fighting using the original owner’s powers. If she really had strong strengths elsewhere, why hadn’t she felt anything?

“Of course, I mean intelligence. Compared to this world, which favors strength, your world values wisdom. Look here. This is your recent battle.”

Gabriel switched the dreamscape’s image, showing Aierjisi battling that alien creature.

“Utilizing the physical law of reflecting light with a mirror to send that alien creature’s laser hurtling back at it. This is something only you could pull off in combat. If the real Aierjisi were to fight, she wouldn’t have come up with this strategy and would’ve been utterly defeated by that alien creature.”

Gabriel praised Aierjisi’s combat method from earlier.

“Really?! That’s it? It can’t be just that, right? Is there something else, like another reason?”

Aierjisi remained skeptical. If it was solely based on intelligence, they could have chosen people from other fields. There was no need to pick game players specifically.

“Hmm. It seems you’ve caught on, haven’t you? There’s indeed another reason.”

“So if I hadn’t noticed, you wouldn’t have bothered to tell me, right?”

Aierjisi questioned him displeasedly. If she hadn’t been so suspicious, she might have been deflected easily by his words.

“Pretty much. After all, I did say I would only answer questions you asked. If you didn’t ask, I wouldn’t say anything.”

Gabriel’s tone carried no sense of guilt. It felt very much like he was brazenly holding his ground. Aierjisi thought that if this Gabriel had a physical form, he’d probably resemble someone somewhat like Q.

“Alright, spill it! Why choose us game players?”

“Well, this question is also quite simple. Beyond searching for intelligent individuals, we’re also looking for souls with high compatibility with those sacrifices. You, as one of the souls we sought, were chosen.”

“Compatibility, huh? Wait a sec! If I’m in this body, then what about the original soul?”

Aierjisi sensed something was off. Generally, a body couldn’t contain two souls.

“Because the original soul had long since deteriorated during the lengthy sealing time, we introduced a new soul into this body, merging it with the original’s memories and personality. This way, we create a being that closely resembles the original.”

“Wow, you guys really went hard on this, didn’t you?”

Hearing how Gabriel’s group treated her made Aierjisi’s resentment deepen. But she still had one question.

“However, I still want to ask something. Why go through the hassle of looking for compatible souls via playing games? Those two things don’t seem related at all!”

This was also a point she couldn’t comprehend. What’s the connection between gaming and finding highly compatible souls?

“Well, I expected this too. Let me explain. This game isn’t an ordinary one. While you’re busy controlling characters in the game to defeat the final boss, your soul also grows more aligned with the character. So as you play more, your skill with the character improves. Ultimately, when you successfully complete the game, your soul’s compatibility will be exceptionally high, fulfilling the needs for the souls we seek. Do you get what I’m saying?”

After listening to Gabriel’s explanation, Aierjisi finally understood.

In summary, it’s just a huge hassle to find compatible souls one by one. So, these angels came up with this sneaky trick, getting people to play this game to boost their soul compatibility. Once the players completed the game, their compatibility would be nearly perfect, and they could be collected.

“Alright, I get it. Now, let me ask a few more questions. If we defeat these Adrian People, is there still hope for us to return to Earth? I’m a bit worried about my parents; I disappeared suddenly, and they must be really concerned about me.”

Even though it had been nearly two months since she arrived in this world, Aierjisi still worried about her parents back on Earth. What would they do without their only child? Would they be heartbroken?

“About that, you don’t need to worry. With our celestial powers, erasing your existence is a piece of cake. Right now, your family has likely completely forgotten about you and is living their lives in peace, just like before.”

……

【Well, thank you very much!】

Aierjisi silently expressed her gratitude to the angel in her heart.

“As for whether you can return to Earth… that depends on whether we can re-establish contact with this world. If we can reconnect, bringing you back won’t be a problem. But if we can’t, you might just have to live here for the rest of your life. So don’t hold too much hope; just try to adapt to the life of a girl in another world.”

For some reason, when she heard this, Aierjisi could almost envision Gabriel’s sly smile.

“Sigh. So it’s really like that? Fine, I accept it. Anyway, life in this world isn’t too shabby.”

Even though she missed her life back on Earth, it wouldn’t be so bad to live as Aierjisi in this new world.

After all, she’s now a Little Princess, easily able to live that carefree life where everything is handed to her. At least she didn’t have to struggle for basic needs like on Earth.

Though it felt a bit wrong to be living leisurely in another world while her parents back home might be worried sick.
