Chapter 75: Someone’s Been Peeking… (Fourth Update)
At the same moment, the scene of the blond-haired, blue-eyed youth and his spiky-haired companion approaching “Them” was being watched through a crystal ball by a magician dressed in black robes.
“Hmm? What is it, Fels?”
“……Ize Alward of the [Loki Familia] seems to have discovered ‘Them.'”
Fels, clad in his dark robe, gave a brief reply to the deep voice that had addressed him.
This was the “Prayer Hall” beneath the Guild Headquarters.
In the dimly lit stone chamber, only four torches served as light sources. At the center, resembling an ancient temple altar, sat the venerable god Uranus on a massive divine throne.
And as the “Sage” at Uranus’ side, Fels was monitoring the migration status within the twenty-second level of the “Great Tree Maze” via a crystal placed upon the stand.
Ize’s earlier abnormal behavior had naturally not escaped his notice.
“[Loki Familia]? Can you confirm if he truly has discovered them?”
Facing such a serious question, Uranus did not want Fels to describe it with vague terms like “seems.”
There were only two possibilities to consider: yes or no.
Using “seems” in this context was too irresponsible.
“There hasn’t been direct contact, but judging from Ize Alward’s situation, he appears to know something.”
After a moment’s contemplation, Fels responded to Uranus’ inquiry.
Throughout the migration process, Fels had monitored every detail without missing a single one, exercising absolute control over the situation.
The once-renowned “Sage,” Fels, had set up “eyes” throughout various areas of the Dungeon.
Cunningly concealed in the corners of each floor, these eyes provided excellent observation capabilities.
These were magical artifacts known as Twin Crystals.
The scenery and sounds captured by one of the twin crystals could be projected onto the other.
This device allowed communication across great distances and was the only existing communication magical artifact in modern times.
Even with incomplete materials, creating such an artifact would be difficult for someone like Fels, let alone the famous “[Omnipotent One].”
Moreover, Fels possessed an owl familiar.
One of the owl’s eyes was also a similar magical artifact, replacing its lost eye when Fels saved it from near death.
Fels often used this eye crystal to track lawbreakers or dangerous individuals during migrations, utilizing it for surveillance and exclusion.
He was able to observe Ize and Raul thanks to this magical artifact.
Being directly under Uranus, or rather, unknown even to the Guild staff, there existed a secret covert division. Based on this position, he deliberately overlooked some cases or excusable individuals.
However, fundamentally, this black-robed magician always kept a sharp eye, ensuring neither the Dungeon nor the city populace strayed onto the wrong path.
Upon receiving Fels’ answer, Uranus fell silent, seemingly deep in thought.
A few seconds passed before the deep voice spoke again.
“Keep a closer eye on Ize Alward. Whether or not he knows something is crucial to us.”
Perhaps even the word “crucial” was insufficient to describe the gravity of the situation.
The current circumstances had Uranus, the main deity of the Guild, and Fels, his right-hand man, dangling over a burning fire, ready to be consumed.
What Uranus and Fels had done must never be revealed to outsiders; it went against the world’s understanding.
If exposed, even as the creator of the Adventurers Guild, Uranus would surely face dire consequences.
Others wouldn’t warrant such cautious treatment from them.
But Ize, bearing the name of the [Loki Familia], compelled them to take him seriously.
Should he indeed know something and reveal it to Loki, the situation would become dire.
Even the goddess storming here to confront them would be the best-case scenario among all possible outcomes.
“I understand.”
Fels clearly understood the god’s intent and solemnly agreed.
However, in reality, their subject of discussion, Ize…
At that very moment, he was having a blast playing with a group of ferocious monsters inside the “Great Tree Maze.”
“OOOOH!!!”
“GAH—!?!”
Mad Beetles, Berg Bears, Dragonfly Monsters, and more surged forward, only to fall one after another beneath Ize’s spear.
Held firmly in Ize’s grasp, the silver-gray spear entered battle mode, its mysterious runes glowing faintly, enhancing its power. The spear tip shimmered with an ethereal azure flame.
Meanwhile:
“Heart of the Earth”
· Restores stamina and spirit when touching the ground
· In combat mode, greatly increases strength and durability
“Star of Enlightenment”
· Upon entering battle, enlightenment wards off enemies, temporarily granting the Development Ability “Intuition”
· As the battle continues, enlightenment clears obstacles, strengthening all acquired Development Abilities
Both skills were functioning as they should, providing powerful enhancements.
Under the influence of “Intuition,” Ize’s movements in battle were seamless and precise, each attack and dodge perfectly timed.
His combat skills had improved dramatically.
With Level 2 lower-tier Ability Values, he was battling a horde of monsters with potential abilities at Level 2 upper-tier, yet the situation was overwhelmingly one-sided in his favor.
It was likely that no one else in Orario could match him at this moment.
Without exception, the sharp spear, accompanied by wind pressure and flames, mercilessly tore the monsters apart or pierced their vital points.
The azure cold light flickered repeatedly, moving at incredible speed.
It cut through the ranks of the monsters, blocking their paths.
Suddenly sensing the approach of scorching flames, Ize kicked off the massive body of a bear beast, sending it flying while using the recoil to evade.
Next, he launched a beautiful star-shaped water droplet into the air.
“Starfall!!”
Struck directly, it exploded, leaving the bird-like monster scorched and falling to the ground in the aftermath of the Starflame.
Unlike the Dragonfly Monster, the Firebird’s attacks could be blocked by shields but still brought an intense heat that Ize preferred to avoid whenever possible.
Thus, the Firebirds became Ize’s primary targets next.
In most other floors, simultaneous aerial and ground combat wasn’t necessary, making exploration within the “Great Tree Maze” particularly challenging and prone to injury.
But soon enough, with Raul’s support and Ize’s performance, the battle drew to a close.
As the final monster was impaled through the chest by Ize, silence returned to the surroundings.
All that remained were piles of magic stones and “dropped items” glittering with blue-purple crystalline light, silently testifying to the traces of battle.
