Chapter 83: This Little Princess is Such a Drama Queen

To be honest, Little Princess didn’t even want to attend the evening party hosted by the City Lord tonight.

The so-called party was just a gathering of noble acquaintances showing off their recent happenings—exactly like a school reunion back on Earth. What was the point of going when she didn’t know anyone there? Aside from the City Lord and Yin, no one would recognize her and Yake anyway. It would just be an awkward affair.

But… what could she do? An evening party was something you had to attend even when you didn’t want to. Besides, the invitation was personally left by Yin. If she didn’t go, wouldn’t that be a huge disrespect to the City Lord and the others?

“Hmm? What’s going on at the inn? Why are there so many Guards here?”

As they returned to the inn, the unusually large number of Guards at the entrance raised the Little Princess’s suspicions.

“May I ask, are you Miss Aierjisi and Mr. Yake?”

The Guard Captain, who had been waiting at the door, compared their appearances against the descriptions Yin provided and confirmed that they matched. If there were no mistakes, this should indeed be them.

“Yes. I am Aierjisi, and this is Yake. May I ask who you are?”

Aierjisi inquired about their unexpected visitor. The sudden appearance of so many Guards surely indicated something noteworthy.

“Nice to meet you. My name is Tier, and I am the Guard Captain sent by Lord Yin to escort you both to the City Lord’s Mansion for the evening party. I have been waiting for you two for quite some time. Please get into the carriage now.”

Wow, Yin sent someone over this early! I wonder if she was worried about us running away or if she thought we might be in danger.

“Alright. I understand. Yake, let’s go, get in the carriage.”

Regardless, since Yin had already sent someone, it made sense to comply and ride to the City Lord’s Mansion. After all, it wouldn’t do any harm to her.

“Oh. I’m sorry for the trouble. Thank you for coming to pick us up for the City Lord’s Mansion. Here’s a little treat. If you don’t mind, please enjoy.”

Before getting into the carriage, Yake didn’t forget to show appreciation to the Guards who had come to escort them. He pulled some donuts from his wormhole stash and offered them.

“Oh. Thank you! Donuts? It’s been ages since I had those.”

The Guards thanked Yake and accepted his donuts. For them, who often patrolled the city, such sweet treats were a great way to recharge energy.

“Alright. With the guests received as ordered, let’s set off.”

“Understood.”

With a command from Tier, he rode at the front of the formation, while other Guards positioned themselves around the carriage, ensuring protection against any potential threats.

As they passed through the streets, the onlookers buzzed with curiosity about which noble lady required such a large escort.

“Alright. We’ve arrived. Miss Aierjisi, Mr. Yake. You may get down now.”

Safely escorted to the City Lord’s Mansion, Tier dismounted and invited them to step out of the carriage.

“Thank you, Brother Tier. Come on, Aier. Hurry up and get off; we’re here.”

“I know, no need to urge me.”

After Yake disembarked, Aierjisi followed with a scowl. She wasn’t a child; she didn’t need Yake to tell her when to get off.

“I shall take my leave now. Once you enter the City Lord’s Mansion, someone else will greet you.”

“Okay, okay, you’ve worked hard.”

“No need for thanks. This is an order from the City Lord. I’m just following orders.”

With that, Tier turned and led the other Guards to continue their patrol around the city.

“Aier, what’s wrong? You look really unhappy. Did I do something wrong?”

Yake noticed the displeased expression on Aierjisi’s face. Perhaps he had unintentionally upset her.

“What do you think? Just a mere servant dared to rush his master to get off the carriage. Do you think I’d feel comfortable?”

Aierjisi said with a scowl.

“Uh… you’re really making a big deal out of this? I don’t think I did anything wrong back there. I was just urging you to get off—it’s normal!”

Yake thought he hadn’t done anything wrong. He was simply encouraging Aier to get off the carriage; why did that make her so upset?

“Hmph. I don’t care if you were right or wrong; what you said just now made me feel annoyed.”

Aierjisi turned her face away and pouted.

“Yare yare. If that’s the case, want some candy? A piece of candy should cheer you up, right?”

Yake was used to Aierjisi getting mad. Although her reasons were often baffling, it was easy to appease her.

“Hmph. Don’t think just one piece of candy will make me forgive you.”

Aierjisi kept her face turned, unmoved.

“One piece won’t do, huh? Then how about five pieces?”

Yake pulled out four milk candies from his wormhole, trying to charm the Little Princess.

“Ugh… five candies? Fine, I’ll painfully forgive you this time. But no next time! If I get annoyed again, you better bring me ten candies!”

Under the candy onslaught, Aierjisi fell miserably. She successfully quelled her annoyance with five candies.

“Alright. I’ll make sure to prepare ten candies for you. But just so you know, candies are sweet, yet you need to take care of your teeth.”

Yake’s motherly instincts kicked in, and he began lecturing Aierjisi again.

“Ugh, I know! So stop already! I’ll keep my teeth healthy! Besides, I’m a Blood Clan; my teeth aren’t as weak as yours, humans!” Aierjisi continued her usual defiance, growing impatient with Yake’s lecture.

“I just want you to stay healthy. Don’t think just because you’re from the Blood Clan and have strong resilience, you can do whatever you want.”

“I got it. So stop talking! This fine evening party is about to be ruined by you. Honestly, I should’ve never saved you back then!”

With an impatient huff, Aierjisi popped the milk candy into her mouth, and together with Yake, they stepped into the City Lord’s Mansion.
