Chapter 235: Unexpected Butterfly Effect (Please Subscribe!)
“So, who is this friend Lanti mentioned?”
Izay and Artemis strolled through the bustling northwest district of the city. Lanti walked ahead, pouting and keeping a distance from them.
Suddenly remembering this, Izay tilted his head in curiosity.
What he didn’t expect was that the goddess herself also shook her head lightly: “I don’t know, but Lanti said she met a new friend by chance in the dungeon, seems to be an elf?”
“Met in the dungeon?”
“It appears that girl went into the middle layer alone and encountered danger; the other party saved her. She wanted to repay the favor, and gradually their relationship developed.”
Lanti even complained that the other person was very aloof, it took her great effort to befriend them. Artemis added at last.
“Eh, that’s quite fitting for a dungeon-style ‘encounter.’ I’m curious about this elf.” Izay sighed slightly.
It’s like a hero saving the damsel story arc, meeting someone in the dungeon.
But the one who saved Lanti was also a girl~ Artemis emphasized this point.
Although the process was quite dramatic, since Lanti took the initiative to approach and make friends with the other person, then surely the other person must have good character.
Don’t look down on Lanti’s usually lively personality, often the more innocent and cheerful the nature, the more accurate their intuition is when it comes to identifying people and things.
Lanti is a typical example of this kind.
If the other person instinctively made her feel uncomfortable, like being sly or evil, no matter what, she wouldn’t go near them.
Not long after, approaching the first district range of North Street, amidst the busy streets, Izay and Artemis saw Lanti’s elven friend.
A beautiful elf adventurer. Her pitch-black hair flowed all the way down to her waist, her skin astonishingly white.
The combat attire she wore resembled a priestess’ robe, primarily white in color. The long hem covered up to her neck, minimizing exposed skin, seemingly showing the elves’ cleanliness obsession.
And those crimson eyes emitted a chilling aura that could stop anyone in their tracks. Despite her striking appearance, under the gaze of those red pupils, no stranger would dare approach her.
Yet Lanti seemed oblivious to all this, happily skipping over to the elf, raising her smile and greeting her familiarly.
From a distance, Izay and Artemis did not interrupt them, only feeling surprised.
“…Is it her?” Izay muttered.
Lanti actually got acquainted with that [White Witch] Philais, which somewhat surprised him.
It must be the butterfly effect I brought about, now this will be interesting.
I wonder if Rezia will still have a chance with this interference from Lanti.
“That child, is there something wrong? Izay.” Artemis, hearing Izay’s mutter, also glanced at the elf.
There doesn’t seem to be anything unusual.
“Hmm…nothing~ But just in case, I’ll ask, Lanti hasn’t teamed up with her to explore the dungeon, right?” Izay looked somewhat hesitant.
That person has a terrifying “auspicious” attribute… Izay wasn’t sure if Lanti could handle this buff.
Artemis tilted her head slightly as she recalled: “No, except for the first time, every time that child met Lanti, it was during rest periods.”
“It seems because there’s a gap in strength between the two, so that child politely declined Lanti’s request to explore the dungeon together.”
It was clear from Artemis’s tone that the goddess didn’t recognize Philais.
It makes sense.
Having just settled in Orario, she naturally wouldn’t know Philais, an adventurer deliberately concealed by the main deity, thus could only judge based on outward appearances.
And the result was—nothing special.
“Is that so? That’s good~”
“Izay, your attitude is suspicious. Are you hiding something from me?”
“Nope, some trivial little things~”
“I don’t believe you—!”
“It’s really nothing, Lady Artemis. Let’s check out that shop over there? We might unexpectedly find something nice?”
Since explaining the whole situation would be troublesome, Izay chose not to explain, forcibly changing the subject.
As long as Lanti doesn’t go exploring the dungeon with her, there shouldn’t be any major problems. Just need to keep an eye on this aspect later.
With that thought, Izay vaguely dealt with Artemis’s inquiries and directly pulled the goddess along.
Artemis pouted as she was forcefully dragged away.
On the other side, Lanti was sharing recent amusing stories of her life with her newly-made good friend Philais.
And the latter watched her with a mix of helplessness and indulgence in her eyes, feeling like she had gained an energetic younger sister.
Such a carefree personality, impossible to dislike. And she had quite a clingy streak…
Initially, Philais was stuck with her due to that persistent clinginess despite being cold-shouldered, leading to gradual acceptance, or perhaps resignation.
It was quite touching.
But regarding saving Lanti, Philais didn’t regret it at all.
She also noticed Izay and Artemis’ gaze earlier, keeping it in mind.
Looking at their retreating backs, Philais asked Lanti:
“Lanti, do you know that goddess and adventurer?”
The little one followed her gaze and immediately pouted.
“That adventurer is such a jerk! Miss Philais can completely ignore him! Someone who bullies kids isn’t worth paying attention to!”
“As for the goddess…that’s my superior deity, Lady Artemis! She’s a really good goddess!”
You know her?
Then there’s nothing to worry about.
Philais thought it might be someone with ill intentions.
Taking this as a minor episode, the two girls quickly immersed themselves in enjoying the festival.
……
Near Central Square.
“Ah, takoyaki—☆ Tione, let’s eat together~”
“You haven’t forgotten why we came here, have you?”
“Four dimensions…?”
Facing her sister’s exasperated question, Tione stuffed her mouth full of food and mumbled unclearly, tilting her head.
“Don’t talk with your mouth full, how much have you stuffed in there!” Tione sighed helplessly, placing a hand on her forehead.
Since Finn said there was still some time before the event started, they were currently browsing street stalls.
It’s just that the process was rather frustrating. (Tione’s one-sided thought)
“Not acceptable! This price is too high! No one would buy it!”
“Um…”
The complaint came from Loki. She was currently arguing about prices with a stall owner, while Refia beside her seemed to want to say something.
“Don’t try to fool me with holiday pricing! I won’t buy unless it’s the regular price—!”
“But this is the regular price!?” The bearded vendor replied nonchalantly.
Normal price during the festival…
Then the vendor added another sentence: “If you’re not buying, please visit another store.”
“Not possible! My Refia said, ‘This grilled squid looks delicious,’ so I want to buy here! But this price! I·Will·Not·Buy!”
Vendor: “…”
You’re just trying to haggle, aren’t you Loki…
Refia easily saw through Loki’s true intentions.
