Chapter 376: Bert: Izay, Save Me!! (Please subscribe!)
Pummeled by the descending hurricane winds, the adventurers stared intently at the gaping abyss where a colossal red dragon loomed ready for battle.
Izay transformed his weapon, switching up his attack methods accordingly.
In mid-air, where footholds and leverage were scarce, engaging in melee combat with wyverns by wall-running proved inefficient; ranged attacks were far more practical.
The silver bow aimed true at the incoming swarm of flying dragons. Magic-infused arrows coalesced in an instant, Izay drew the string taut, locking onto his target with precision.
A leading flying dragon roared in what seemed like intimidation as it closed in at breakneck speed, prompting Izay to release the arrow upon hearing its cry.
The moment the arrow was unleashed, a surge of magic coursed through it, accompanied by a recoil that swept over his entire body.
“———!!”
If one were to describe it, it would be akin to a “meteor.”
The tip of the arrow gleamed brightly, slicing cleanly through the wyvern’s head in a flash.
Its entire head disintegrated as the silvery light continued unrelenting, piercing into the midst of the flying dragon cluster before exploding, sweeping across dozens of meters around the arrow’s point of impact.
It wasn’t so much an “arrow” as it was more aptly described as a missile.
A single arrow contained enough energy to pierce even the sturdiest rock formations or hardened steel, rendering the formidable dragon scales utterly useless, leaving them as mere fish on a chopping block.
Moreover, there was no limit to the number of arrows. Izay’s greatest advantage in using a bow was being unconstrained by ammunition.
As long as his magic power held out, his supply of projectiles was infinite!
Missile-like attacks fired in rapid succession.
Even before making contact, the flying dragon group began losing members in droves.
At this moment, Refia slowly loosened her grip around Izay’s arm, carefully positioning herself near him while initiating her incantation.
If left alone, she’d likely enter free fall without a foothold, compounded by the harassment from the flying dragons, making it uncertain whether the fairy could successfully chant her spell.
“Hoaaaaaaaah!”
Perhaps inspired (or provoked) by Izay’s attacks, Bert leaped astonishingly high toward the approaching group of winged dragons, plunging his twin swords deep into the neck of one wyvern.
The wounded monster thrashed in its death throes, but the werewolf showed no hesitation, removing his weapons and jumping off its body, adjusting angles to slash another, utilizing the wyverns’ bodies as platforms for combat amidst the aerial army.
His agility made his movements blur into afterimages, each flicker claiming the lives of several flying dragons!
Following closely behind, Tiona didn’t lag either, dodging the breath attacks of the flying dragons and charging forward with her great sword.
Her expansive and all-out offensive style couldn’t match Bert’s mid-air combos, yet every strike she delivered was powerful and precise, mowing down enemies like cutting rape blossoms with wooden sticks!
Not far from her, Tione’s fighting style was similar. Truly, they lived up to their sisterhood!
While wielding an axe spear, Tione lost some flexibility compared to usual, but her high level of proficiency allowed her to unleash a berserk rampage among the flying dragons, embodying pure chaos!
The only one not actively engaged was Gress.
The old man’s beard flailed about during the descent, covering his face as he watched the spectacle unfold, having been overshadowed by the younger generation.
Maintaining a composed expression, he occasionally took care of a few reckless flying dragons that came too close for his “snack time.”
Meanwhile, the cannon dragons stationed at the bottom of the pit launched massive fireballs attempting to eliminate the advancing adventurers.
However, these attacks were invariably blocked by Izay’s arrows charged with concentrated magic.
The clash between cannon fire and sniper missiles caused bursts of sparks to scatter repeatedly within everyone’s line of sight.
The floor continuously melted away under the flames, crimson and deep blue firelight illuminating the aerial battlefield.
The ear-splitting roars of the dragons, the flashes of crisscrossing blades, the devastating arrows, and the occasional bursts of magical energy painted a grim picture of the ongoing sky battle.
“Wa——!? There’s a dragon moving incredibly fast! It’s an ‘Enhanced Species’?!”
“Tch, just had to show up now?! ”
Continuously descending, Tiona and Tione kicked off walls to leap towards the monsters, employing absurd tactics to keep downing flying dragons. But without wings themselves, their efforts fell short.
Having consumed numerous magic stones, it had attained the bearing of a king of flying dragons, even gaining the ability to command its kin. Summoning the surrounding flying dragons, it attempted to counterattack and annihilate the two.
“Refia, take it out!”
After intercepting a large fireball, Izay received feedback from Tiona and responded without turning back.
A deep-enhanced species of flying dragon; Tiona and the others wouldn’t achieve a one-hit kill mid-air. However, Refia possessed the firepower necessary to fulfill the task.
“【Snipe, Fairy Archer. Pierce, Arrow of Certainty】!!”
“—【Spirit Bow Light Arrow】!!”
Upon Izay’s words, Refia immediately completed her incantation, unleashing a radiant beam of light in a single shot, reaching maximum output.
Though the flying dragons noticed the rising magical energy and retaliated with fireballs, it proved futile.
Some fireballs were deflected by the passing great light, while those that hit were effortlessly blocked by the Jade Shield, dealing zero damage.
The colossal single-shot magic homed in on the flying dragon king below, who immediately flapped its wings to escape upon sensing imminent danger.
But just as it barely slipped out of the light’s trajectory, the tracking-capable single-shot magic altered course and pursued the startled dragon relentlessly.
The chase lasted briefly until a dazzling flash engulfed the dragon king, obliterating both it and its magic stone into a pile of dust.
“Izay! Give me some fire!!”
At this point, the wolf-man shouting loudly from the front of the group.
He was less than a hundred meters from the “ground,” the others not exceeding a hundred fifty meters.
Leading significantly ahead, Bert glared daggers at the bottom of the shaft. He could already identify seven “cannon dragons” within view, with potentially more hidden beyond the shaft’s obstruction.
Dashing forward might look cool, but the cost would be an extra dish called roasted wolf meat placed before the cannons’ graves.
Despite his brashness, it didn’t mean Bert lacked intelligence.
Realizing he couldn’t decelerate, he opted for the best choice: seeking help from Izay.
Upon hearing the plea, Izay rolled his eyes.
What a fool to rush so recklessly! Now you’re panicking and coming to me?
How embarrassing for a wolf!
Bert, you’re kicked out of the group!
“Hey!? What’s wrong with you, Izay!? Don’t tell me you didn’t hear that!!”
Seeing Izay’s lack of immediate response, Bert called out again.
In reality…
Several cannon dragons noticed him at the same time, preparing to eliminate the lone wolf together.
Witnessing the fire glowing simultaneously in the mouths of seven cannon dragons, Bert’s face twisted in panic.
The duration of Riviria’s magic on him had already started to weaken.
Izay’s Jade Shield, due to his excessive charge, appeared low in durability and faded significantly.
Uncertain if Izay could provide support across fifty meters, Bert began to feel uneasy.
“Hoooooooooo——”
“Not good! Izay, save me!!”

The cannon dragons’ attacks sizzled through the air.
Seven large fireballs erupted almost simultaneously, their scorching flames carrying an ominous sense of impending doom rushing closer.
Seeing the dire situation below, Izay couldn’t afford to dwell on the strong sense of déjà vu that made him want to laugh.
If he didn’t act quickly, Bert might end up as barbecued wolf meat. Even using a magic sword wouldn’t help Bert.
Casting magic might have broken through, but wolves who repelled magic hadn’t practiced incantations. By the time he finished chanting, flowers would have wilted.
“Old man, keep an eye on Refia, I’m going to help that idiot!”
“Alright, go ahead.”
Before the conversation with the dwarven warrior ended, Izay’s figure had already accelerated downwards in mid-air.
That movement… no, rather, that state completely baffled Gress and Refia.
Without any points of leverage in the air, how did Izay accelerate directly!?
Soon after, the two watching Izay understood.
—Wings!
In the blink of an eye, they saw flames envelop Izay’s whole body, his unique deep blue starflame.
Then, on his shoulder blades, clusters of starflames converged, forming blazing wings flowing with celestial radiance.
Though their form wasn’t visible yet, their presence was undeniable. The vivid wings supported Izay’s body, causing him to plummet at an incredible speed!
“Wow——! Izay is flying!?”
“—Isn’t this ridiculous!? ”
Watching their companion swiftly surpass them, Tiona and Tione were astonished to the point of forgetting to attack, their raised weapons frozen mid-air in disbelief.
This was simply too shocking.
Throughout history, which adventurer has ever been able to fly?
That was the exclusive domain of winged beings or powerful fairies.
Ignoring the fairy race, aside from animals, only ferocious monsters had wings, making such abilities far removed from ordinary people.
This was a law written over thousands of years, and it was easy to imagine the shock felt by the sisters!
Gress and Refia weren’t faring much better; the four of them shared similar reactions.
As for Bert, who was in mortal peril, he was momentarily ignored altogether.
“How come I keep finding myself in danger!?”
Noticing Izay coming to his aid, Bert first felt moved, but quickly turned to surprise.
Because he noticed the overwhelming intensity of the starflame surrounding Izay, surpassing the seven large fireballs below!!
If that brushed against him even slightly, wouldn’t he be obliterated!?
The wolf’s fleeting inner monologue dissipated as Izay dove downward like a hawk plummeting from the sky, crossing dozens of meters in the blink of an eye.
One second he was behind Bert, the next he appeared at the forefront of the group.
“BOOM————!”
The seven incoming fireballs approached menacingly, but in the face of flame wings spanning several meters wide, they were nothing more than equal volume.
Under equal volume conditions, quality determined superiority.
The dragon flames of the cannon dragons were no match for Izay’s starflame. A fierce swing of the enormous fiery wings dispersed the fireballs en masse. The sheer brute force collision triggered an explosive reaction, yet Izay remained completely unscathed!
Looking up at the human with wings larger than theirs, the kings of the monsters at the bottom of the shaft were stunned speechless.
What the hell…
Are we the dragon lineage or are you?!
This isn’t scientific! Nor magical!!
But Izay paid no heed to their thoughts, having been forced into “defense” for so long, his mind was filled with thoughts of delivering a massive blow to these monsters.
The starflame around him surged like a volcanic eruption, cutting through the aftermath and smoke of the explosion. The heat waves from the azure wings scorched the eyes of the great red dragons.
With just one glance! Izay targeted the center of the monster army within his field of vision—the dragon nest near the edge of the fifty-eighth floor!
“【Descend, End (Orionids)】!!”
Chanting softly, the atmosphere trembled.
In an instant, transforming the Yeti into a spear, an overwhelming amount of magic reminiscent of the sun erupted from Izay’s body.
“—【Leonid】!!”
The next moment, with a roar, Izay unleashed the ultimate meteor spear!
Rather than throwing it, he utilized the explosive energy of the fire wings, combining it with a thrust!
Words like wind-racing or lightning-fast weren’t enough to describe this fleeting flash of light; all one could see was a blurred streak of luminous energy.
Drawing his armed hand inward, then arcing it!
Like a falling meteor, Izay descended upon the dragon swarm!
“BOOOOOM BOOOOOM BOOOOOM BOOOOOM BOOOOOM!!!”
With the rise of violent shockwaves and mushroom clouds, the fifty-eighth floor experienced a major earthquake at that very moment!
The wilderness floor cracked extensively with a creaking sound, the modules centered around Izay’s landing point began to sink.
Tremendous undulations swept across the rocky ground, walls, and the ceiling above.
What was essentially land made of rock surged violently like the sea during a storm under this single strike.
Izay consciously directed the force of his attack outward, amplifying its range to maximize the killing radius.
Otherwise, with just this one strike, he could have pierced through several floor levels!
Then he’d find himself alone on the sixties floor, which would certainly be amusing.
Though it seemed he could also fly back up, so it probably wasn’t much of an issue~
“The Great Lord has returned! You trash!!”
With a thunderous thud, Bert stepped heroically into the lowermost layer.
Absorbing the scattered energy from Izay’s earlier clash with the cannon shots and enhancing it with a lightning-attribute magic sword, he became a bolt of lightning striking the ground.
Unlike Izay, Bert couldn’t fly, so their landing points differed significantly, separated by at least several hundred meters.
And Izay had outright destroyed the entire dragon nest on the fifty-eighth floor, along with most of the active dragonkind present.
Now only the lucky ones who survived the attack’s residual effects or managed to evade in flight remained.
Although Bert’s single drop attack also stomped to death the cannon dragon that previously sniped him, avenging himself.
Compared to Izay, the disparity became immediately apparent.
“Tch, comparing oneself to others will drive one mad…” The young werewolf looked at the distant mushroom cloud that hadn’t dissipated and clicked his tongue.
Izay was one of the only two adventurers of his generation that Bert truly admired, the other being Ais.
Excluding Tione and Tiona.
For them, Bert felt more recognition than admiration.
Both Izay and Ais possessed extraordinary strength levels among their peers.
All were adventurers of the same Lv., yet these two clearly surpassed the rest right from the start.
Whether through magic or skills, the innate advantages crystallized from their intentions granted them repeated capital to challenge higher levels.
There was no way to argue otherwise.
