Chapter 28: This Plan Sounds Unreliable
This plan is really quite simple.
Since that Diablo’s target is Aierjisi, we’ll set a trap using Aierjisi as bait. The enemy will definitely come for her! The moment they do, we’ll seize them, while Gaia and his elite team rush into the enemy’s Base Camp to rescue Ailin from their grasp.
“Hmm. The plan sounds good, but the problem lies in… strength. That Diablo has some serious battle power, and even to restrain him, we need some hefty firepower. Do we have anyone like that on our side?”
After hearing the entire plan, Aierjisi thought it was sound. If anything, it was about whether we had the power to put it into action.
“That’s something we’ve considered too. Ouxs is currently developing a device to weaken Diablo’s powers. Once that device is ready, we’ll have already succeeded by half!”
Of course, Gaia and the others had contemplated this issue. Diablo’s strength is formidable. If we tried to confront him head-on, it would be a death sentence. Thus, some crafty tactics are necessary to restrain him. Not the most honorable approach, but who cares about honor in battle?
“Alright then. We’ve solved the Diablo issue, but what about the enemy’s Base Camp’s combat power?”
Aierjisi continued to press Gaia on how much he knew about the enemy’s Base Camp. She had heard from Weirafiya that it was a treacherous place. If even the Purebred Phoenix felt threatened by it, Gaia—a regular human—leading so-called elites into that Base Camp could easily lead to disaster.
“You needn’t worry about that. I’ve thought about this too. The enemy’s Base Camp will indeed have formidable combat power, but our elite team is no pushover. If we strike like lightning, we should have a solid chance.”
Gaia has a lot of confidence in his elite team; each member is worth ten regular fighters, especially with him leading the charge. If they catch the enemy off-guard, it should go well.
“I think you should be more cautious. What if we run into other Ultimate Life Forms inside?”
Even if they keep Diablo busy outside, they can’t rule out the presence of Gilbaris guarding the place. Moreover, they’ve yet to figure out how many Ultimate Life Forms are lurking around. Charging in without this knowledge is just plain reckless.
“This… we’ll have to take a risk. We can’t just keep waiting. We can’t let Ailin remain in their clutches any longer.”
Gaia understands Aierjisi’s concerns. Rushing into the enemy base without any intel is indeed dangerous.
But! Sometimes, you just can’t let danger deter you! There will always be times in this world when one wants to take that leap of faith!
Plus, if they keep dragging their feet, the Ice Dragon Clan will find out eventually. The Ice Dragon King will surely be furious, and even if they manage to rescue Ailin, he’ll take her back. That’s not allowed!
“So that’s how it is. Seriously, you guys really love to take risks, huh?”
Aierjisi rubbed her temples, feeling a headache coming on from these reckless folks. But that’s just life in another world—how can you not take risks?
“However, I have one suggestion. Can I speak?”
“What suggestion? Go ahead.”
“Can I join the team going into their Base Camp?”
“Eh?”
“Ah?”
Upon hearing Aierjisi voluntarily wanting to enter the enemy’s Base Camp, Yake and Gaia were dumbfounded.
What does this mean? They surely know that the enemy’s target is her! Initially, Gaia planned to use Aierjisi as bait to lure Diablo out and have her retreat safely. Yet, she wants to actively enter the enemy’s lair?
“I know this operation is incredibly risky. But I have to go. I made a promise to Weirafiya that if I manage to rescue Ailin from the enemy’s Base Camp, she will join us as our ally. On the other hand, if we accidentally run into Gilbaris, I’ll handle him. You guys won’t be able to take him on.”
Aierjisi explained her reasons for wanting to take a front-line role.
“Weirafiya, the Purebred Phoenix, huh? If we could get her as an ally, it would significantly strengthen our future battles. But are you sure she’ll keep her promise? It’s not worth risking your life for such a commitment.”
Gaia knows how powerful a Purebred Phoenix is. Letting Aierjisi enter the Base Camp for this promise seems foolish. Surely, they could think of another way to make her an ally.
“Even if she might back out of the promise, it doesn’t matter. I must enter their Base Camp. I’ve already made up my mind, so Gaia, please stop trying to dissuade me.”
“Alright. Looks like you’ve made your decision. Then I’ll arrange for you to join.”
Seeing Aierjisi so determined, Gaia had no choice but to include her in the strike team.
“Wait! What about me? I want to go too.”
Yake also chimed in, expressing his desire to join. He can’t let Aierjisi go alone—they are one and the same; it makes sense to go together!
“No way. Yake, you can’t go.”
Before Gaia could respond, Aierjisi preemptively refused Yake’s request. He cannot follow her in.
“Why? Aren’t we one team? Why push me away like this?”
Yake was confused; why the change in their usual action dynamic? Aierjisi usually brings him along.
“This operation is very dangerous. You’ve seen Gilbaris’s terrifying power firsthand. If I fight him, I won’t be able to protect you, so you should stay outside and help restrain Diablo with the others while we storm their headquarters.”
“Do you have a chance against him? Stop joking around!”
“I definitely have a chance! As long as this pendant is still with me, I have a fighting chance.”
Aierjisi lifted the pendant to show Yake.
This pendant conceals divine power, and with it, she can greatly boost her strength to rival that of a god for a moment. With such overwhelming power, even Gilbaris won’t stand a chance against her.
