Chapter 579: All These Years, and the World Still Gets it Wrong (Please Subscribe!)
“Are they from the Dark Faction? Why would they show up in the Dungeon at a time like this? Could it be that they’re behind this special situation?”
Ryu took a step closer to Izay and made a reasonable inference about the current situation.
“It’s too early to jump to conclusions, Ryu. Let’s gather more intel in the lower levels before we decide. We still know too little about this fog…”
Izay shook his head and scanned the maze-like environment centered around the Great Azure Waterfall.
Indeed… At such a sensitive moment, traces of the Dark Faction have been found within the Dungeon.
If we assume too quickly, it’s easy to pin them as the culprits.
But Izay knew clearly that the current Dark Faction can’t even summon a few evil gods; they’re far from capable of this.
The cause might lie on our side…
“The Beginning of Historical Transition,” “In the Name of Hope,” “The Sigh of the Star Child,” “The Wound of Time”…
Connecting all the clues seemed to reveal some hidden truth.
And with the familiar scene before us now…
Is this what the system refers to as the Might of the Stars?
Izay took a deep breath and quietly calmed his indescribable emotions.
This Firebird stone may indeed be something left by the Dark Faction… but not the one I’m familiar with.
Its origins should go much further back.
“Shall we continue exploring deeper? I have no objections! In fact, I fully agree!” Victoria grinned mischievously nearby.
Though she didn’t quite understand what the Dark Faction was,
She had no objections to Izay’s decisions.
As a traveler, Victoria was happy to see more breathtaking sights.
As a witch who wanted to return to her own world, she wouldn’t choose to retreat here either.
Sometimes if you don’t take the initiative to move forward, it’s easy to miss opportunities.
“I have no objections either, let’s gather intelligence first.”
Seeing both members of the team speak up, Ryu reined in her inner doubts, adjusting her state.
“If so, can I check from above? With flight, I could quickly survey the situation below!”
Victoria volunteered enthusiastically, producing a broom out of thin air.
However, Izay wore an expression of well-meaning advice: “Personally, I don’t mind you doing this, but there is a bird in Water Riddle City that flies extremely fast and uses suicide attacks. If you fly up, you’ll become a sitting duck.”
“Ahh…?”
Victoria’s enthusiastic momentum froze on the spot.
Her plan to soar high and observe the scenery came to naught!
After all, in the cave labyrinth earlier, there was simply no space to fly, and along the way, they hadn’t encountered any flying monsters.
So she naturally assumed that “flying” in the Dungeon would be a game-changer.
It was merely due to luck.
There are flying monsters in the Great Tree Maze called “Firebirds,” but birds generally don’t move during foggy weather, so Victoria never saw them.
However, things were a bit different in Water Riddle City.
Even with the fog, the mist near the Great Azure Waterfall gets dispersed by the rapid water flow, keeping visibility clear.
Here, creatures like “Songbirds” and “Flash Swallows” can still fly normally.
Realizing this, Victoria felt rather disheartened.
But she still didn’t abandon the idea of riding her broom.
“If that’s the case… then I’ll just fly slowly~ Honestly, after walking for so long, my legs are sore… your adventurers have really good stamina~.”
Pouting slightly, Victoria leaned back and sat directly on the floating broom, swaying it up and down.
Looking at the floating broom beneath her, Ryu gave her a curious glance: “Miss Victoria… Is this a magical artifact?”
“Magical artifact? No, it’s a witch’s flying broom, specially custom-made. The principle of flight relies on me using magic to sustain and control it.”
“Hmm… I’ve been wondering about this for a while now, is magic really that convenient?”
Ryu turned to look at Izay, seeking answers from him.
She also has magic slots, yet she didn’t know magic could be used this way.
Seeing her look, Izay helplessly spread his hands and said: “Don’t look at me, I can’t do this either. Miss Victoria’s understanding of magic is different from ours, it can only be attributed to… the world’s fault.”
“The world’s fault?” x2
The elf and the witch exclaimed simultaneously, speaking in unison.
Izay couldn’t help but twitch the corner of his eye irritably: “Ryu is understandable, she doesn’t know the situation. But what are you pretending, Miss Victoria? Don’t tell me you haven’t noticed the huge cognitive differences yet. You’re not from this world, are you?”
“Ehehe~” The witch responded to his question with a tilt of her head and a cute expression.
“Ehehe, don’t joke around.”
“I thought Mr. Izay wouldn’t find out so soon… After all, even I think it sounds like a tall tale.”
The wondrous diary of crossing worlds.
Who would believe it if you told them?
You’d have to be considered less than foolish to accept it.
“Eh? Wait, Izay, what do you mean? Miss Victoria isn’t from this world? Where is she from? And how did she get here!?”
Ryu’s surprise increased, the elf’s speech becoming somewhat incoherent.
“Of course, another world. Think about it, Ryu. Strong abilities, completely different methods of casting magic, claims to be a world-traveling traveler but knows nothing about Orario’s ‘Age of Gods’. What else could it be?”
Only being a guest from another world could explain all of Victoria’s differences.
Izay patiently explained to Ryu.
Listening beside them, Victoria felt somewhat embarrassed.
Reflecting inwardly—had her actions over these two days been so full of flaws in front of someone like Izay, who truly has insight?
(Seems like they were…)
Despite maintaining composure well, she couldn’t hide the essence of being a naive country girl.
Most of her knowledge about Orario came from Izay.
“Miss Victoria…?”
After hearing Izay’s explanation, Ryu randomly looked at the beautiful gray-haired witch, clearly wanting final confirmation from her.
“Ah, um… Though I myself am not entirely sure, this place is probably ‘another world’ for me~ That white fog brought me here and then abandoned me… Poor me, waaah…”
Under the elf’s hopeful gaze, Victoria sealed the matter with a fake hand wipe of tears.
“…”
Receiving her reply, Ryu was momentarily stunned, then asked somewhat dazedly: “Then, shall we redo introductions? Hello, Miss Witch from another world, I’m Ryu Lione?”
“This is unnecessary, I’m already feeling awkward…”
“Hmm, skipping it is fine too, I’m actually quite awkward as well…”
Watching their strangely stiff conversation, Izay almost burst out laughing.
Fortunately, their brief exchange passed quickly, and such situations didn’t occur again.
At the end of the day, Ryu’s ability to accept was quite strong.
Because from another perspective,
Deities are also “people from another world” to the people of the earthly realm.
Their heavenly realms and earthly realms are inherently two separate worlds.
Thinking about it this way, Victoria’s origin becomes much easier to accept.
