Chapter 39: Gaia and Ailin’s Encounter
And so, Gaia and the Ice Dragon Clan’s Princess, Ailin, descended the mountain together, returning to his homeland.
“Oh wow! Is this the human realm beneath the snowy mountains? Although I heard about it from Father King before, seeing it with my own eyes is really interesting!”
Ailin gazed at the shops lining the streets, her curiosity about everything in the human kingdom bubbling over.
“Um… I have to ask. Why did you sign the contract so quickly?”
Gaia couldn’t help but voice his confusion. He needed to understand why she had signed the contract in such a hurry, without even glancing at its specifics. It baffled him.
“Ah? Oh, I figured you’d ask me that! The answer is simple: by signing that contract, I get to come down the mountain and play with you guys!”
“Ah?”
Ailin’s reason left Gaia utterly astonished. What the heck? She signed the contract just to have fun down here?
“You look like you can’t comprehend at all, but it’s understandable. How could you, living freely in the human realm, ever grasp my feelings?”
Seeing Gaia’s expression, Ailin understood what he was thinking. After all, someone like Gaia, who could live in the human world, would never comprehend the feelings of someone confined to the mountain.
She had finally beaten the game. Then she received a USB drive sent by the game company, which turned out to be a sequel. At that moment, she couldn’t wait to put on her headphones to check out the sequel’s quality.
Then, then, then…
When she finally woke up, she found herself in this situation. She had become the character in the game, forced to live with the other Ice Dragons. Especially stuck on this boring snowy mountain.
These 20 years, do you know how I spent them? It was pure agony—eating, sleeping, training day after day. I wanted to go down to the human world and have some fun, but my Father King never allowed me to leave the mountain. So, I had no choice but to endure.
When an opportunity finally arose to leave the mountain, how could I pass it up? Ailin quickly grabbed a quill and signed her name, becoming Gaia’s wife and nominal servant, happily heading down the mountain with him.
“That’s how it is. Even though you probably won’t believe me, I wasn’t originally from this world. I was forced to cross over from another world. Oh, by the way, just to let you know, I was a man before crossing over, so don’t think of doing anything like that with me. I won’t agree.”
Given that their marriage was a political one, Ailin had every right to refuse any intimate relations with Gaia. Although Gaia had no plans to pursue that either.
“Uh… indeed, I can’t wrap my head around what you’re saying. Hold on a second, let me sort through this story in order.”
After hearing Ailin’s tale, Gaia felt his brain spinning. Was this really happening? Was she telling him some kind of fairy tale?
“Anyway, thanks to you, I’ve finally come down from the mountain, into your human realm. I can finally have some fun! By the way, you’re the king, right? So, do you have a lot of money on you?”
Ailin looked at Gaia, making him feel incredibly uncomfortable.
“Well, it’s not that I have a lot of money. I just never carry any when I go out; there are people designated to handle payments.”
As a king, how could Gaia be expected to carry money himself? He would have servants responsible for handling payments if he went out shopping.
“Tch. Fine, I thought I could snag a bit of money from you to buy something. Looks like I’ll have to go back with you and figure it out.”
Ailin realized that Gaia was just a broke king. If she wanted his money, she’d have to go back to the palace first.
So Ailin followed Gaia all the way back to the Royal Palace.
“Lord Gaia… is this woman possibly…”
Ouxs looked at the white-haired lady beside Gaia. He could sense the unique authority emanating from her, making his legs almost buckle as he struggled not to kneel before her.
“Indeed, you guessed it right. This is Ailin, the daughter of the Ice Dragon King, and now she is my wife.”
“Ailin, this is Ouxs, the Sage of the Royal Palace, and also the person I trust most here.”
Gaia forced a smile as he introduced Ouxs and Ailin to each other.
“Hello! Ouxs, it’s my first time meeting you. Why are you so scared? Look at your pants; you’ve already leaked a little!”
Ailin pointed at Ouxs’s trousers. Seriously, he got so scared just meeting her? She wasn’t even that intimidating!
“Uh… I’m sorry, that was rude. It’s just my first time meeting a Dragon. I’m really sorry for the accident!”
Ouxs adjusted his glasses with trembling hands.
Can you blame him? Anyone would be scared silly meeting a Dragon for the first time!
“Wow, you’re really pathetic. Getting scared and leaking on our first meeting! If you meet other dragons later, I suspect you might end up permanently incontinent!”
Ailin shook her head helplessly. She considered herself pretty gentle in the Ice Dragon Clan. If this guy met the more aggressive dragons, they might just give him a look and he’d be a puddle on the floor.
“Alright, enough scaring Ouxs for now. Let’s go, Ouxs, find some time to change your pants. Also, let the others in the palace know to gather here in the hall.”
Gaia led Ailin deeper into the palace, arriving at the grand hall where he took his throne.
“Just wait here for a moment. After I announce that you’re my wife, I’ll take you around the city for a proper visit.”
“Oh, is this what you call showing off? Showing off that you’ve wed such a beautiful wife like me?”
“Stop it.”
Though their time together had been short, through prior events and her comment just now, Gaia began to understand something.
This Ice Dragon, Ailin, had the personality of a little demon!
