“Huh? Yake, you’re back? What on earth did you do? You’re back quite fast! Wait, huh? Yake?! What happened to you?!”

Inside the room, Aierjisi was anxiously waiting for Yake’s return when she heard the door creak open. In she saw Yake being supported by two royal palace guards, looking utterly drained as if he’d done something incredible. Aierjisi rushed over, taking him from the guards and laying him on the bed.

“Sorry, Aier. Just did a bit of reckless stuff. Now my body’s completely spent.”

Right now, Yake was basically immobilized; even apologizing to the Little Princess took all his remaining strength.

“What on earth did you do? How did your body end up like this?!”

Aierjisi inspected Yake’s condition. It was not good at all. He looked as if he had been fighting for days on end. His body was exhausted, and he was on the verge of collapsing at any moment.

“Let’s talk once I wake up. Right now, I feel like I’m about to die.”

After forcing out those words, Yake passed out. Aierjisi was worried about what he might have done, but his condition was serious, so he needed to rest.

“Seriously. You’re such a reckless idiot. If you die, I’ll die too! Can’t you be a bit more careful?”

Looking at sleeping Yake, Aierjisi couldn’t help but grumble about how he wasn’t taking care of the second chance at life he had been given. If he were to die from overdoing it, she’d be in big trouble too!

What Aierjisi didn’t know was that Yake had pushed himself to the limit just for her. He wanted to become stronger to protect her in future battles, even at the cost of his own health.

If only she knew the reason behind Yake’s exhaustion, what kind of reaction would she have?

Aierjisi stripped Yake of his clothes and tucked him in with a blanket. She then headed out of the room to see if she could find something to eat for him. With his current state, he would definitely need some good food to recover should he manage to wake up.

“Eh? Lord Gaia? Why did he end up like this too?”

While searching for food, she came across Gaia being carried away on a stretcher, looking just like Yake, exhausted from what seemed to be days of fighting.

“Ouxs, what happened to Lord Gaia? Why’s he in this state too?”

Ouxs happened to be nearby, so Aierjisi quickly asked him, hoping for some clues. As the palace Sage, Gaia was now in a tough spot, with the burden of all palace matters weighing heavily on him.

“I’m not sure. I was just minding my own business in the laboratory when Mios suddenly rushed in crying, saying something like Gaia was going to die. So I came over. We’ll have to wait until he recovers to find out what he did. For now, he needs to rest.”

Ouxs sighed as he spoke. Why did their king have to cause so much chaos? Now, on top of dealing with inventions, he had to handle all the palace matters too. He was really feeling the pinch!

“Sounds like you have a tough job. By the way, where’s the kitchen? I need to find some food.”

“What’s up? Are you hungry already? Didn’t you have afternoon tea with Lord Gaia just this afternoon?”

“It’s not for me! I’m getting it for Yake! My poor Yake has passed out on the bed just like Lord Gaia. I estimate he’ll be out for two days, so as his master, I need to prepare some food for him!”

“Oh, I see. You’re quite the caring master for your subordinate! But you shouldn’t go to the kitchen yourself. I’ll have one of the guards bring some food for you.”

“Oh, thank you so much! I feel bad bothering you. If there’s anything I can help with, just let me know!”

“No, just focus on resting. You’re a vital part of the battle plan, and you need your energy.”

“Don’t treat me like a kid! I’m perfectly reliable, okay?”

Seeing Ouxs treat her like a child made Aierjisi a bit annoyed. Why did everyone think she was just a little girl? If anything, she was older than them combined!

“I’m not treating you like a kid! I just know you’re reliable. But don’t underestimate yourself; I know you’re the palace Sage, and you’ve faced challenges before. If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back now.”

“Alright then, I’ll head back too. Although… I feel like I won’t have much to do right now.”

If she went back and had dinner, then straight to bed, that would be so boring! Perhaps she could check out the town and see if she could find any Phoenixes. If she could get their help, the battle plan might go smoother.

“Forget it, I’ll take a trip to the town first. I need to check on something.”

“Do you need someone to go with you?”

“No, it’s fine! I want to go alone.”

“Alright then, make sure you come back early. If anything happens, just contact me, and I’ll send someone to help you.”
