Chapter 48: The Key Section Was Burned
“That’s a great question you asked! How is the Second Stage Contract supposed to be signed? Honestly, I have no idea.”
Weirafiya casually admitted she didn’t know how to sign the Second Stage Contract.
“Really? Didn’t the book say anything?”
Holding back the urge to give this Purebred Phoenix a good thumping, Aierjisi continued to press her. If the book mentioned the Second Stage Contract, there had to be instructions on how to go about signing it, right?
“Well, it should have been in the book, but someone burned that part.”
“Burned it?”
“Yep! The section detailing how to sign the Second Stage Contract has a hole burned right through it. So I’m clueless about how to sign this Second Stage Contract.”
Weirafiya shrugged helplessly. When she first saw the hole burned in that spot, she was furious. It felt like when you’re hooked on a novel and then find out the author hasn’t updated in over a year—so frustrating!
“Well, that’s just…”
Aierjisi couldn’t help but feel helpless too. After finally learning two methods to enhance her abilities, one called Luluye’s Sacred Domain had mysteriously disappeared, and the other, the way to sign the Second Stage Contract, was missing the most crucial part. It really made her feel quite angry.
“Forget it. At least I have made some progress. I’m heading back now, but don’t drink too much! Don’t forget, you’re one of their targets now.”
Before leaving, Aierjisi made sure to remind Weirafiya not to overindulge in alcohol; otherwise, if enemies attacked while she was tipsy, she wouldn’t stand a chance to flee.
“Okay, okay, I got it! I won’t drink too much. Besides, with this little bit of alcohol, there’s no way I’ll get drunk.”
Weirafiya didn’t take her words to heart, and after seeing her off, she continued to down several more cups before finally heading back to the Inn with Yake.
“Ah… This is such a hassle. What on earth should I do now…”
Aierjisi lay on Yake’s belly, staring at the ceiling while sighing repeatedly.
The current situation seemed as if someone was deliberately messing with them. Luluye’s Sacred Domain? Gone! The method for the Second Stage Contract? Also gone! Now the only thing she could rely on was this Relic of the Gods, but using it would only allow her to unleash one move, after which she would collapse in a faint. In other words, if she failed to deal with the enemy while using the Relic, she would be in serious danger.
【What if I try searching the Library here?】
Considering they were in the Royal Palace, the library here should have more complete materials than those outside. There might be a breakthrough waiting for her.
“Alright, let’s do this! Off to check it out!”
The next moment, Aierjisi jumped off Yake, learned the library’s location from the palace guards, and went in.
“Actually, on second thought…”
As soon as she entered the Library, neatly arranged books on the shelves greeted her, making Aierjisi rethink her strategy. It wasn’t that she was afraid; it was just that there were simply too many books! She didn’t have the patience to flip through them one by one. If there were a librarian around, she could ask for help.
“Hello! How can I assist you? Hmm? You seem like a first-timer here; please state your identity.”
Just as the Little Princess was hoping for a librarian’s presence, poof! One appeared right before her eyes.
“Uh? Oh, my identity? I’m Aierjisi, a guest being entertained by Lord Gaia.”
Aierjisi introduced herself.
“Aierjisi, huh? Please wait a moment while I check if there’s any info on you.”
The librarian opened the book they were holding, trying to find her name.
“Right! Your name is indeed here. Sorry, I doubted you earlier; that was my mistake. How can I assist you?”
After confirming the little girl was indeed Aierjisi, the librarian put down the book and asked if she needed anything.
“No worries, I just wanted to see if there are any books regarding the Second Stage Contract in this library.”
Aierjisi shared her purpose of visiting, hoping for a bit of assistance.
“One moment… Let me check if we have any books on that.”
The librarian opened their book again, searching for anything related to the Second Stage Contract.
“I’m sorry, but this library doesn’t have the book you need. My sincere apologies.”
Not long after, the librarian concluded their search, regret written all over their face.
“No problem, I just came for a bit of luck anyway. If there’s nothing, it’s no big deal. I won’t disturb you, I’ll just head back. Wait, one moment! Do you have any novels or collections of stories here? Like Sherlock Holmes, perhaps?”
Just as she decided to head back, Aierjisi thought it’d be better to grab a novel to read since going back meant having nothing to do.
“Sherlock Holmes? What’s that? If you mean novels, we do have some storybooks here. Would you like those?”
“Absolutely! I need them right now!”
“Alright, please wait a moment. I’ll go get those books for you.”
The librarian opened their book again, resting their palm on it, muttering incantations in an unintelligible language.
Under the librarian’s spell, several books that had been neatly arranged on the shelves suddenly floated through the air and landed in their hands.
“Here you go. Hope this book brings you some help.”
“Thank you so much for your assistance!”
After receiving the book, Aierjisi made sure to thank the librarian before heading back to her room to read and snack, passing the time—even if it might not be the best use of her time right now.
