Chapter 50: You’re Just Too Reckless
“By the way, there’s something I care about. I want to ask you.”
While Aierjisi was taking a stroll inside the Royal Palace with Yake, she suddenly said this.
“Huh? What is it? If you want to ask something, just go ahead, I’ll tell you.”
Yake was puzzled about what the Little Princess was getting at—what could she possibly want to ask him? But judging by her next question, it should be about how he transformed his body into its current state.
“You’re quite clever; you already know what I want to ask. Since that’s the case, just answer me honestly. Don’t think about hiding it; I can read your thoughts.”
Aierjisi used the Contract to read what Yake had just thought. Since he already knew what she wanted to ask, she decided not to waste her breath.
“That’s true, so I’ll tell you. Actually, it’s about the upcoming Diablo raid. If I intend to keep him here, I need to have strength that matches his. But my current power is still far from enough, so I sought Mr. Gaia’s help for some special training.”
“Then how did you manage to transform your body into this state in just ten minutes? I recall that when we left earlier, your body didn’t seem this exhausted.”
Aierjisi couldn’t understand how Yake could look so worn out in such a short time. Could it be that there was some magic in this world that could control time?
“That’s because Mr. Gaia and I were doing special training at the Training Ground, which is why my body ended up like this. As for why it changed in such a short time, it’s because time works a bit differently there.”
“What do you mean by differently? Tell me more.”
“At that Training Ground, the concept of time is blurred; five minutes there is equal to a month outside. So, Gaia and I trained for about ten days straight without food or sleep.”
“My goodness! Are you out of your mind? Ten days without food or sleep, just training?”
Hearing that Yake had treated his body so recklessly, Aierjisi couldn’t remain calm. What kind of crazy person is he? How could he undertake such a harsh regimen?
“Actually, it’s not that bad. It’s just ten days; it’s no big deal.”
“No big deal? Do you know how dangerous it was when those guards carried you back? I was terrified you’d fall asleep and never wake up! Listen up, you’re just a human; you need to eat, drink, and train wisely. Don’t be so stubborn. Overtraining can put a heavy burden on your body. If you die, it’ll be a huge headache for me.”
“Ugh… okay, I’ll be careful. I’ll pay attention to the intensity of my training from now on and won’t make that mistake again.”
After being scolded by Aierjisi, Yake realized his mistake.
<「This little princess actually cares about me.」>
As she scolded him, Yake formed a new impression of Aierjisi. Although she often acted bossy and unreasonable when everything was normal, when he was truly in danger, she immediately turned into someone who knew how to take care of him.
He couldn’t figure out which side of her was the real one.
“Just know that. Pay more attention to your health; after all, I don’t want to suffer losses regarding my assets, especially a valuable ‘living asset’ like you. If I lose you, I honestly don’t know if I will find another servant as obedient as you.”
Aierjisi continued lecturing Yake, forgetting to use her mind-reading ability on him.
“Alright, alright, I think you’ve said quite enough. I can see your mouth is getting dry. Why don’t we head back and get some water?”
Time passed without knowing how long it had been. Seeing Aierjisi getting dry-mouthed from her lecturing, he suggested they return to their room for a drink before continuing their conversation.
“Then let’s go back. You have no idea how worried you make me. Huh? Look at me lecturing you until my mouth’s so dry.”
Aierjisi was indeed feeling the dryness in her mouth. But for some reason, she couldn’t stop herself once she started talking about Yake. If he hadn’t interrupted her in time, she probably would still be going on.
“Okay, okay. Let’s go. By the way, I wonder if Gaia has woken up yet.”
On their way back to the Room, Yake felt concerned about Gaia’s state. Gaia had been dealing with paperwork before training with him for ten days straight; his condition couldn’t be much better than Yake’s. Perhaps it would be wise to check on him.
“What’s the matter? Are you worried about him?”
Aierjisi looked back at Yake.
“Not exactly worried; just a bit concerned. After all, he trained alongside me for ten days straight. Now that he’s in this state, I feel quite responsible. As his friend, I truly care about how he is doing and whether he managed to wake up smoothly like I did.”
“Since you care so much, why don’t you go see him personally? It would be a good recovery exercise for you. You go ahead; I need to get back to my room and drink some water, bye!”
Aierjisi left Yake alone and started walking back toward her room.
<「Did I just say something I shouldn’t have?」>
Watching Aierjisi’s figure gradually grow distant, Yake pondered whether he had inadvertently upset her with something he said. It should be nothing; it was merely concern as a friend. Could it be that Aierjisi was feeling jealous?
That can’t be! She had only told him not to interact with other women without her consent, and Gaia is a guy, so he shouldn’t be in her range. Yeah, maybe she really just wanted to go back and drink some water.
“Forget it; no need to overthink. I should check on Gaia first.”
Yake shook his head, realizing that thinking too much was pointless. Instead of wasting time here, it was better to head over to check on Gaia and see how he was doing. Maybe he would recover even faster than Yake!
