Chapter 61: Missed the Mark
“Well, this is… ”
Gaia naturally understood Ouxs’s predicament. Expecting him to come up with a solution without the relevant information was indeed placing him in a difficult position. However, if they wanted to successfully rescue Ailin, they had to find a way to maintain their Teleportation Gate.
What to do… Should we really take a gamble on this? Considering the time it takes for them to open the Teleportation Gate, at most only two people can go through.
If only we could get some intel on the Adrian People… But besides myself, there’s only Aierjisi and that Phoenix who have dealt with them. I wonder if they have any information about the Teleportation Gate.
But I guess I might as well try asking them!
Two minutes later, Gaia found Yake and Aierjisi, who were still undergoing rehabilitation training, and explained his intentions.
“Huh? Information about their Teleportation Gate? I don’t have that either. Didn’t you prepare anything on your side?”
“No…”
“Seriously? You ordered a battle plan without even having that intel? You’re practically jumping into a fire pit!”
Hearing that Gaia was daring enough to formulate a battle plan without grasping even the enemy’s information, Aierjisi was agitated. This guy was going way too far.
“I’m sorry. So could you help think of a way to maintain their Teleportation Gate?”
Gaia, realizing his fault, bowed his head and asked Aierjisi, hoping for another plan.
“Even if you say that… I really don’t know anything about their Teleportation Gates either. Asking me for help isn’t going to work.”
Aierjisi also looked troubled—she didn’t know their intel either. No matter how Gaia requested it, she still couldn’t help. Not knowing something is just that.
“How about I ask Weirafiya? She might know something.”
Since she didn’t have the information, she had to check with the Phoenix; she had charged into the enemy’s Base Camp before, so she might know something.
“Thank you.”
Gaia could only entrust this heavy responsibility to Aierjisi. If possible, he would have wanted to meet that Phoenix in person, but he really couldn’t leave the Royal Palace.
“I’ll warn you, don’t get your hopes up.”
Given that the Phoenix might not even know, Aierjisi wanted Gaia to prepare himself for the worst.
“Yeah, I’ll prepare myself.”
Gaia understood that the progression of events would definitely not be as smooth as he imagined. This intel was intrinsically hard to acquire, so it was normal if the Phoenix didn’t know.
However, all he could do was take a gamble. If he lost this bet, he would have to burst into the enemy’s Base Camp alone to rescue Ailin.
After Gaia left, Aierjisi brought Yake back to their Room.
“Aier, what do you plan to do next? What if the Phoenix doesn’t know the intel either?”
Yake sat by the edge of the bed, looking at Aierjisi.
“Well, you don’t need to worry about that. I have my ways. There’s a saying, ‘Where there’s a will, there’s a way,’ right?”
“Oh? So you have some hidden trump card?”
“I do, but I’m not sure if I can actually use it.”
Aierjisi held up the God’s pendant. The so-called method was to gamble on her power in the God mode. In the game, Aierjisi’s character had the ability to manipulate time, one of which was to slow down the passage of time for a specific object. She had frequently used this ability to tackle very tough foes in the game.
If the powers Aierjisi had in this world were the same as in the game, she could prolong the Teleportation Gate’s maintain time by slowing down the flow of time through it.
However, this plan came with a major issue: just how long could she maintain it? The last time she used this mode, she was in an unconscious state, and after using it for less than a minute, she reverted back and ended up sleeping for an entire night.
“What kind of trump card is it? Tell me!”
Yake, curious, lay down. He wanted to hear what hidden skills this Little Princess had.
“No way. The real trump card must be kept under wraps; the fewer people who know about it, the better. It’s better if you don’t know, or you’ll find out when the time comes.”
“Alright, I’ll back off for now. But are you really going to see that Phoenix tomorrow?”
“Yes. If that Phoenix has a way to maintain the Teleportation Gate, I won’t have to dig out my trump card so soon.”
“Then take me with you tomorrow!”
“You want to come too? It’s not like we’re going out for drinks. What do you want to go there for?”
“Because I’m your servant! If you’re going there, I have to go with you as your master.”
“Fine, since you put it that way, I’ll take you with me tomorrow. But be careful and don’t say anything disrespectful. If you get burned by that Phoenix, I won’t save you.”
“Okay, okay! I’ve got it! I won’t say anything disrespectful!”
Clearly, Aierjisi was the one who often said unreasonable things, so how could she have the nerve to teach him a lesson?
Of course, Yake thought this in his heart but didn’t dare voice it.
Fortunately, Aierjisi hadn’t employed mind-reading just now. So this thought went unnoticed by her.
The next morning, Aierjisi and Yake set off early from the Royal Palace and arrived at the bar where the Phoenix frequently visited.
“Hey, she’s not here? Did I come too early?”
Aierjisi looked at the clock on the bar wall; it was only 7:30 AM. It seemed she had indeed come a bit too early.
“Are you looking for Weirafiya? If you want to find her, it’s better to come at night. If you can make it here two hours earlier, you might catch her. She was drinking here almost all night yesterday until she was taken home by her companions at around 6 AM. After drinking so much, she’ll probably sleep for a long time today, haha.”
The bar owner, seeing the two of them, kindly informed them of when Weirafiya would be at the bar and about how she had been there drinking the night before.
