Chapter 66: Are You Here for the Circus Too?

Chapter 66: Are You Here for the Circus Too?

“Miss, I just heard about a really interesting place in this city. Would you like to join me?”

It was noon. Arthur patted Weirafiya, still snoozing in bed, asking if she was interested in going out with him.

“Ah? Arthur, stop it! I want to keep sleeping! I drank so much last night that my head is still buzzing. Let me just sleep!”

Weirafiya chose to snuggle deeper under the covers. Why go out in this cold weather? It’s way better to sleep and live up to her identity as a Phoenix!

“Alright then. You keep sleeping, Miss. I’ll take a look first, and if it’s good, I’ll bring you tomorrow.”

Seeing his lady still wanting to sleep, Arthur didn’t have the heart to disturb her sweet dreams. He decided to scout out the circus today, and if the show was decent, he’d take her to see it.

“Hmm… let me see how to get there according to the map the clerk gave me.”

Arthur unfolded the map he got from the innkeeper and followed the marked route toward the circus.

Meanwhile, Aelgiss and Yake had also arrived at the circus entrance.

“So, this is the circus you spoke of? Why does it look so desolate?”

Aelgiss looked at the empty circus and doubted if Yake had brought her to the right place.

“It shouldn’t be wrong. The servant told me it was here. Besides, there’s no other circus in Panimir.”

Yake was also questioning if he was duped by that servant. This circus looked completely deserted!

“Whatever. We’re already here; might as well go inside and take a look.”

With the principle of not having come for nothing, Aelgiss stepped into the circus tent, with Yake following silently behind her.

“It’s so dark! Don’t they turn on the lights inside the tent? Or are they just not open for business right now?”

Inside the pitch-black tent, Aelgiss used her fingers to create a flame lamp, allowing herself and Yake to see their surroundings.

“This circus must really be abandoned… look, there are spider webs here…”

Yake wiped a dusty railing nearby and examined the dust on his fingers. It was clear this tent hadn’t been cleaned in ages. It must be abandoned; otherwise, it wouldn’t be this dirty.

“Looks like it. Since there’s no one here, we should just head out. Looks like this was a wasted trip.”

“Yeah, my bad. I didn’t verify the information correctly before bringing you here.”

“Don’t worry about it, no need to apologize. Your intentions were good; you wanted to help me pass the time. That’s enough for me. Let’s see if there’s anything else interesting around.”

“Right. Let’s go.”

Just as Aelgiss and Yake were leaving the tent, they bumped into Arthur, who had also come to see the circus performance.

“Ah, you’re the guy next to Weirafiya.”

Aelgiss recognized him; he was indeed the man next to Weirafiya, but she didn’t know his name and didn’t know how to address him.

“Hello, I’m Arthur, Arthur Pendragon. I apologize on behalf of my lady for her earlier rudeness.”

Unlike the impolite Weirafiya, Arthur seemed to have been raised with excellent manners, always polite to everyone.

“Ah, hello. I’m Yake, Yake Borland. This is Aelgiss Platin.”

Yake quickly introduced themselves.

“What a coincidence to run into you two here.”

“Indeed quite a coincidence! Didn’t expect to meet you, Mr. Arthur.”

“Arthur, why are you alone? Where’s Weirafiya? She hasn’t been captured, has she?”

Not seeing Weirafiya, Aelgiss curiously looked around. Normally, after forming a contract, a master and servant wouldn’t separate.

“My lady drank a lot last night and is still passed out at the inn. I came out by myself.”

“Oh, right! I heard something about that from the inn’s boss before.”

It dawned on Aelgiss that she had indeed heard something about it.

“Mr. Arthur, are you also here to see the circus performance?”

Yake looked at him. If others were also here, it was probably to see the circus show.

“Yeah. Are you both here for that too?”

Arthur nodded and then asked if they were also here for the circus.

“We came to see the circus, but it looks like it might have been abandoned long ago.”

“Abandoned?”

“Yeah, we went inside earlier, and it looked really dirty and empty, like no one had been there in a long time. I’m not sure what happened.”

Yake shrugged his shoulders.

“Hmm… that shouldn’t be! I heard from the inn clerk that there was a fantastic circus here. How did it get abandoned?”

Arthur frowned as well. He and Yake walked to the side of the tent to examine it closely.

“I told you! How could such a good circus suddenly be abandoned? Look, it’s got a notice up!”

Arthur pointed to a notice posted on the tent. It stated that the circus had moved to another location and was no longer here.

“What? They can do that? If they changed locations, they should’ve properly taken down the tent so we wouldn’t think there was still a performance going on!”

Aelgiss glared at the notice, genuinely annoyed by the circus.

“Let me see where this new location is… VIllage Marsh? Where is that? Mr. Arthur, do you know it?”

Yake scanned the notice; that place name was completely unfamiliar. Arthur had a similar reaction.

“Hold on, let me check the map.”

Aelgiss laid out the map, searching for the name Village Marsh.

“This must be the place. But it looks really far away.”

Arthur quickly found Village Marsh on the map, but it was quite far from where they currently were. There was no way they could get there before sunset.
