Chapter 14: Can’t You Have Some Sympathy for Your Servant?

Chapter 14: Can’t You Have Some Sympathy for Your Servant?

“Just ahead, Mia’s tribe is right there.”

Following Mia’s directions, Yake carried both of them and finally spotted the distant flickering firelight. That must be the tribe Mia mentioned.

However, unfortunately, Yake’s body seemed to be nearing its limit. After lugging around two little girls, his stamina was utterly depleted.

“I can’t go on. Ah…”

Yake collapsed onto the ground, resembling a salted fish.

“Hey? Big brother, are you okay? Wait a moment, I’ll go call the adults from the tribe to help!”

Mia panicked upon seeing Yake like that, thinking he was about to die. She cried and dashed off towards the tribe.

“Yake, how long do you plan to rest?”

“Can’t you at least show me a little sympathy? I’ve carried you both this far, and now I’m just lying here for a moment. Besides, didn’t Mia go to get help? Let her bring someone over to carry me, and we can be done with it!”

“So, you mean you can’t move anymore, huh?”

“Yes, I can’t move. I’m completely worn out.”

“Then let me carry you there. Dark Magic Whirlwind~.”

Creating two small whirlwinds beneath herself and Yake, she made them carry both of them toward the tribe.

“With such a convenient skill, why didn’t you use it earlier? If you had, I wouldn’t be this worn out now.”

“You didn’t tell me to use it! If at that moment you had told me to just use Dark Magic Whirlwind instead of carrying Mia on your shoulders, I would have used it right away.”

Yake had no words left, just silently allowing the whirlwind to carry him forward. Soon, they spotted Mia running ahead.

“Mia, hop on! Your speed is just too slow.”

Aierjisi reached out her hand to Mia, pulling her into her embrace so they could ride together on the whirlwind.

“Wow! Sister, is this magic? Can magic be used like this?”

Mia stared at the swirling black wind below her feet, as it was her first time witnessing such magic.

“Yeah. Wind magic is mostly used for traveling faster. Isn’t that how you use magic where you come from?”

“No, we don’t have anything like magic in our homeland.”

Mia shook her head; for the Beastman Tribe, magic was simply impossible. They had no talent for it whatsoever.

“I see. It sounds like life is pretty tough for you.”

In a world of swords and magic, if the Beastman Tribe couldn’t use magic, their status in this world was clear to see. No wonder those humans acted so harshly towards such a young Beastman girl earlier.

Before long, Aierjisi and the others arrived at Mia’s tribe.

“Dad! I’m back!”

Mia shouted toward the tribe, and a Beastman man emerged from a tent, rushing towards Mia.

“Mia! Where on earth have you been these past few days? Everyone was worried sick about you! Don’t run off by yourself!”

The man tightly embraced his daughter, having been anxious the whole time she was missing, wondering if something happened to her. Seeing her safe before him finally relieved the weight in his heart.

“Um. I know. Dad, I had a little accident and got caught by some bad guys. Luckily, this big brother and big sister helped me get away from them and brought me back here.”

Mia pointed toward Yake and Aierjisi. The man looked at them as they gradually approached.

“Thank you very much for saving my daughter. Please, tell me how I can repay you.”

Beastmen are rather straightforward; if someone does them a favor, they will find a way to reciprocate.

“We can skip the repayment. We just happened to be here dealing with some stuff. But if possible, could we rest for a bit? This servant of mine seems like he’s really on the verge of collapse.”

She gestured at the still-collapsed Yake. The man gasped, hurriedly lifting him and placing him inside the tent.

Aierjisi and Mia followed inside the tent.

“Oh, is this your living environment?”

It’s hard to say whether to call it a steal or to say that Beastmen are naturally close to nature. Their tent was merely a tool for shelter from wind and rain, with only some cooking and washing tools inside. It looked just like a primitive tribe’s dwelling.

“Yep! How about it? Does sister like it here?”

“Well… I really like it. In today’s world, it’s rare to see a place as close to nature as yours.”

Aierjisi hesitated but decided to tell a little white lie. In reality, she couldn’t say she liked this place; it was simply too rudimentary.

“Yay! As long as sister likes it, I was worried she wouldn’t.”

“How could that be? As long as the environment isn’t too harsh, I’ll like it.”

Aierjisi smiled and ruffled Mia’s hair before moving next to Yake, who was lying on a hammock.

“How do you feel? A bit better? Want me to fetch you some water or something?”

“I don’t need anything, just let me lie down here for a while. But this hammock is a bit uncomfortable. I really miss my soft bed back home.”

Lying on this hammock, Yake felt his back was still quite sore. As expected, he wasn’t used to the Beastman way of life.

“Alright then, you just sleep and rest a bit. I’ll go explore the tribe. By the way, I wonder where my Father King has gone. He said he was going to the Moon God Palace, but I have no idea where he actually went, and there hasn’t been any news.”

Aierjisi scratched her head. In such a foreign environment with so many things to resolve, just thinking about it made her head spin.

“The Moon God Palace? Sister came here, indeed, for the palace, right?”

“Huh? I guess not, maybe. I came here looking for a place called the Moon God Palace, but what’s that place like?”

“Well, I’ve never been there. Only the adults in the tribe have been to the palace. I heard it’s a very sacred place that doesn’t allow outsiders in.”

“Seeing it from afar should be fine, right?”

“Um… it should be okay to look from a distance. You could ask my dad. See if he can take you to the palace to check if it’s the Moon God Palace you’re looking for.”
