Chapter 28: You Must Attack That Provocative Servant First

“Well, aren’t we two of a kind right now? How can I let my other half go out there alone? If we’re going to fight, we might as well both go!”

Right now, Yake and Aierjisi shared a single life. Due to their Contract, they were gradually becoming one person. So if they were going to battle, it made sense for both of them to go together.

“Are you serious? The opponent is a madwoman! This isn’t a joke!”

“Of course I’m serious! Precisely because she’s a madwoman, I can’t let my master face that lunatic alone. If I let you go by yourself, wouldn’t I be slacking off as your servant?”

Yake declared with determination. No matter what Aierjisi said, he was not going to back down—this fight had to be alongside her.

“Alright then. Get yourself ready to head out with me. Father King, you stay here and rest well. This is some Potion I brewed to help with your recovery.”

Handing over some Potions to her Father King, Aierjisi and Yake left the Sacred Domain together.

Meanwhile, Freya was desperately trying to break the traps left by Carl, following the lingering scents to track them down. But soon, she was disturbed by the overwhelming scent of Aierjisi’s perfume.

“Damn it, is that perfume? Always with those silly tricks.”

The perfume’s aroma was so strong that Freya could no longer pick up their scent, forcing her to stop and wait for the fragrance to dissipate.

“Looks like you’re in a bit of a bind, Freya.”

At that moment, Titan appeared before her, greeting her.

“Huh? Titan, what business do you have here? Let me warn you, I’m not in a good mood right now; you’d better not make me angry.”

Freya shot a fierce glare at Titan, hoping he would get the hint and not provoke her. Otherwise, even if they were of the same kin, she wouldn’t hesitate to attack.

“Don’t be so grumpy. Freya, you think I wanted to come here? It’s Gilbaris’ orders; if you have complaints, take them up with him.”

“Gilbaris, so it was his plan after all. That certainly fits his style. So, what are you here to say?”

Even if Gilbaris had sent Titan, it was probably just to keep an eye on her. But Titan showing up now must have his own motives.

“It’s nothing special. I noticed you seemed to be distracted by those perfumes while tracking them down. So as your fellow kin, I’m here to help guide you along the way. Of course, I won’t partake in the battle; is that alright?”

“You’re smart to keep your distance. Just tell me, where did those damned folks run off to?!”

Not participating in the battle? Perfect! Freya wanted to vent her anger in battle alone—if Titan joined, she would be the first to turn him into dust.

“Don’t fret, just follow me. I know where they went.”

Titan led the way, occasionally glancing back to ensure Freya was keeping up. In no time, they reached the Moon God Palace.

“They’re right here.”

“Here? But there’s no sign of them at all.”

Freya looked around. She could sense their scent, but she couldn’t feel any signs of life. Was Titan trying to trick her?

“That’s because they’re hiding, as they’re no match for you and can only cower in some corner here. If you want to flush them out, why not cause a ruckus right here? I’ll excuse myself now. Farewell.”

Titan opened a Teleportation Gate and returned to Headquarters, leaving Freya behind.

“Fine, I’ll cause a ruckus right here. Just how long do you think you can hide?”

Freya extended her Thread, wreaking havoc in the Moon God Palace, attempting to force Aierjisi and the others out.

“Stop right there! This is the Moon God Palace, a sacred place, not a playground for you!”

Aierjisi and Yake jumped out to block Freya. They had been hiding in another spot and had done a good job concealing themselves, which was why Freya hadn’t sensed them before.

“Oh? Finally decided to show yourselves? I’ll commend your courage a little. But ultimately, it’s all meaningless! In the face of my power, you’ll only meet a tragic end! Die!”

Freya launched her attack at them.

“Here it comes, Yake.”

“I know without you saying. Let’s stick to the plan we discussed.”

“Okay, sorry for the trouble it’s causing you.”

Aierjisi stuck a piece of paper to Yake’s back and hid to the side.

“Do you think you can escape?”

Freya controlled her Threads, directing them towards Aierjisi’s direction for the attack.

But…

“Nani?! What’s going on?!”

The Threads didn’t follow Freya’s control and instead changed direction to attack Yake, leaving Freya shocked. Why weren’t the Threads obeying her commands?

“Mmm.”

Yake didn’t dodge the attack and took Freya’s Threads head-on with his body.

This was the tactic they had previously discussed. Freya’s method of attack was incredibly straightforward, relying solely on her control over the Threads. Moreover, she couldn’t use other skills until the Threads were cut.

That meant as long as either of them could withstand Freya’s onslaught, the other could flank her from behind and deal a massive blow to finish her off.

As for why the Threads that were initially aimed at Aierjisi turned to attack Yake instead, the answer lay in that piece of paper Aierjisi had stuck to Yake’s back. It wasn’t an ordinary piece of paper; Aierjisi had cast a tiny spell on it. As long as it was stuck on someone, all their attacks would redirect to the one holding the paper.

【You must attack that provocative servant first.】

That was almost the meaning behind it. Hence, those Threads ignored Freya’s commands and targeted Yake, who bore the paper.

Yake lived up to expectations and absorbed all of Freya’s attacks, firmly gripping the Threads she extended.

“Quickly, we need to deal with that madwoman now! Aier!”

Yake couldn’t hold on much longer; even if his injuries could be healed by Aier’s power, the prolonged torment was still very uncomfortable.

“Leave it to me! One shot, and I’ll take that madwoman down!”

Aierjisi successfully slipped behind Freya, preparing to unleash a powerful strike to finish her off.

“Just two filthy rats, how dare you set a trap like this to ambush me!”

Freya was incensed by their actions and attempted to retract her Threads. But the end of the Threads was still tightly grasped by Yake, and she couldn’t pull them back at all.
