Chapter 285: Can He Discover Me?
As Ming left the Heavenly Profound Gate Sect, his heart wasn’t filled with much relief. This was a habit Ming had cultivated—always staying vigilant. Even when sleeping with over a thousand Dragon Leopard Cavalry surrounding him, Ming kept his guard up, for one never knows what might happen next.
Especially with Zhou around him all the time.
Zhou was like a wild animal in spring, releasing hormones day and night.
Honestly, if Zhou couldn’t bear it any longer, Ming thought she could find a right-angled plank or a tree to relieve herself.
Zhou kept getting closer to Ming, deliberately enticing him with sensitive areas.
During meals, Zhou would always feed Ming while whispering sweet nothings like, “Look at me, I only care about my dear brother~”
After saying that, Zhou would glance at Wu, whose daily anger meter kept rising.
But Wu had no relation to Ming, so there was nothing she could do about it.
One day, Zhou intentionally spilled rice on her chest, then opened her arms wide, holding her collar coyly as she asked Ming, “Young Master Ming, can you help me clean this up?”
Wu’s fury caused her to punch through a nearby tree.
Of course, Ming wouldn’t possibly help Zhou clean up.
Otherwise, Ming felt Wu’s fists wouldn’t hit the tree but would land squarely on his body. Besides daytime antics, every night Zhou would wear a thin nightgown and sneak into Ming’s carriage.
The nightgown was see-through, showing everything it shouldn’t, yet creating an illusion like mist, adding an unusual allure.
Though Ming resisted every time, kicking Zhou out of his carriage, he was still a young martial artist brimming with vitality, making sleep difficult after such teasing.
Ming thought if he traveled in the same carriage as Wu, Zhou wouldn’t dare act so freely.
But obviously, that wasn’t possible.
Even though many saw him as the future prince consort of the Wu Kingdom, he wasn’t. Sharing a carriage with Wu would ruin her reputation, leaving him no chance to escape later.
However, Zhou wasn’t entirely useless.
On their journey, Ming and his group encountered several assassination attempts. Every time, before the Dragon Leopard Cavalry acted, Zhou swiftly decapitated the assassins.
“Blood Robe Tower~” Zhou tossed the Blood Robe Tower insignia in front of Ming and Wu, “They’ve hired the Blood Robe Tower assassin organization. Seems like someone has their eyes on us. But is it you, Young Master Ming, or the Princess? Or perhaps both?”
Looking at the insignia, Wu coldly remarked, “Whoever they target, Blood Robe Tower will meet their doom!”
“The Princess is so fierce~ But I’m only here to protect Young Master Ming, not obligated to protect you, Your Highness,” Zhou smiled.
“I don’t need your protection.” Wu coldly glanced at Zhou, then glared at Ming, “You just hide under her skirts obediently!”
Before Ming could explain, Wu huffed and walked away.
“Hohoho,” Zhou laughed like a hen, “Looks like the Princess is jealous~”
Ming’s eyebrows twitched, thinking Zhou must have been bored from being locked up for centuries, now seeking attention outside.
As they approached the Wu Kingdom’s border, the number of assassins increased, but under the protection of the Dragon Leopard Cavalry and Zhou, both Ming and Wu remained unharmed. Once inside Wu territory, Ming felt slightly more at ease, with assassinations almost ceasing.
But Ming remembered the “Blood Robe Tower.”
Previously, they had attempted to assassinate him, and now they were back. They were truly relentless.
A true gentleman doesn’t leave revenge undone. Wait for me!
When Ming arrived at Jiangnan Prefecture, the Prefect personally welcomed Wu and Ming, finally letting Ming relax completely.
In Jiangnan, the economic hub of the Wu Kingdom, surrounded by officials trusted by the Emperor, Ming genuinely believed no one could infiltrate here.
The Prefect hosted a welcome banquet.
After seven days in Jiangnan, Ming’s fatigue vanished, and his previous injuries fully healed.
Yet, Ming sensed his cultivation level nearing its limit.
Once back in Wudu, he needed to break through to the Dragon Gate Realm and face the heavenly tribulation.
Ming and Wu prepared to continue their journey.
Upon hearing that Blood Robe Tower targeted Ming and the Princess, the Prefect dispatched five Nascent Soul Stage experts and an additional twenty-thousand Yanzi Army soldiers to accompany them.
The Yanzi Army, despite its feminine name, consisted of men. It was founded by a deceased princess renowned for her beauty and battlefield achievements. The name “Yanzi” honored her legacy.
Far from derogatory, many sects trembled at the mention of “Yanzi Army.”
For Blood Robe Tower assassins to kill either of them would be incredibly difficult.
The rest of the journey went smoothly.
As Ming and Wu approached the capital, with only two days left, news of the Zhuangyuan Láng and the Princess returning spread throughout the city streets.
The Xu Mansion and Qin Mansion began decorating lanterns and preparing feasts to celebrate Ming’s return.
In the Imperial Palace, the Emperor’s mood was excellent.
This year-long journey had brought immense glory to the Wu Kingdom! “Our son is coming home~”
In a courtyard of the Xu Mansion, Suyan sat before a mirror, frowning deeply, biting her lips.
Suyan didn’t speak, but the reflection in the mirror slowly did.
“He is my son…” Suyan’s face was pale.
“I am you, you are me, so naturally, he is also my son.” The mirror-Suyan said.
“Who are you! Get out of my body!” Suyan’s chest heaved violently.
“That’s impossible.” The mirror-Suyan smirked, “I’ve barely awakened, why would I leave?”
“You say…” The mirror-Suyan grinned wider, “Can he discover me?”
