Chapter 322: Let’s Take a Look Inside
The bright red heart fell from the woman’s hand and dropped to the ground.
In an instant when they saw the woman’s face, all of them were momentarily stunned.
This woman was beautiful—undoubtedly the most beautiful woman they had ever seen in their lives.
But soon, they snapped out of it and began eyeing the woman with extreme caution.
“May I ask who you are?”
They didn’t hurl any insults at the woman; instead, they addressed her with great respect.
In the cultivation world, that’s how things worked. They knew the woman standing before them was powerful, someone not to be trifled with easily.
As for avenging their fallen comrade?
Hehehe.
Sorry, but if he’s dead, then so be it—they cared not one bit. In fact, his death was convenient—it meant less loot to share, and they could even take his stuff for themselves.
But the woman didn’t respond. Instead, she took slow steps toward them.
Her delicate, porcelain-like feet stepped lightly on the ground.
They noticed something crucial! This woman wasn’t walking—she was floating! The leading man hurled a fireball at her.
Under the fiery glow, everyone’s shadows stretched long—but hers was nowhere to be seen. The fireball passed right through her body.
“A ghost cultivator?”
A suspicion arose in their minds.
In this world, there were ordinary cultivators, demon cultivators, and ghost cultivators.
Ghost cultivators were usually human or beast cultivators whose physical bodies had perished but whose souls remained. Unwilling to reincarnate, they chose to linger in the mortal realm to cultivate their Divine Souls.
However, ghost cultivators faced many limitations—they had low ceilings, struggled to reach great heights, and reaching the Jade Pudding Realm was exceedingly rare, let alone the Xiānrén Jìng.
But why would there be a ghost cultivator here?
The Woman in Red gave them little time to ponder.
A flash of red, and another man had his heart ripped out by the Woman in Red.
“It’s just a ghost cultivator! Use Thunder techniques to kill her!” the leader shouted.
The remaining man quickly steadied himself, channeling thunder magic, pulling out every single thunder talisman he had and unleashing them all at once!
But these thunders striking her proved utterly useless! “How is this possible?”
They doubted whether she was truly a ghost soul.
By logic, thunder was a natural bane to ghost cultivators! Even if she were at the Nascent Soul Stage, she shouldn’t have remained unscathed.
Yet the thunder attacks failed to scratch her—not even a bit! It was absurd!
In the next moment, the “ghost cultivator” appeared before yet another man.
“Pfft!”
The man spat out blood and collapsed without any chance to resist. Before he realized what happened, she effortlessly tore out his heart, glanced at it briefly, then tossed it onto the ground.
“Damn it!”
The leader cursed, fleeing in another direction. He knew for sure he couldn’t fight her! This ghost cultivator was too much trouble—he’d better escape while he could.
As for the treasures beside those corpses? He didn’t care about them anymore—his life was more important.
Half an incense stick later, the man looked behind him, seeing no trace of her. He sighed in relief.
“What the hell did I encounter?” The man felt extremely unlucky.
He had only entered the Sama Cave half an hour ago, intending to raid it. The master-disciple pair he met initially were the first people he encountered inside.
Everything was going smoothly until this mysterious woman showed up out of nowhere.
Fortunately, he managed to save his life without losing anything.
As the man thought he’d escaped far enough, he started noticing a strong smell of blood as he moved forward. The place seemed oddly familiar to him.
It felt like he’d been here before.
But how could that be? He had taken a different route.
“Clack!”
Suddenly, the man stopped in his tracks.
His eyes darted around.
In front of him lay four corpses, and among them stood the Woman in Red.
The Woman in Red turned around and looked at him.
“How? How is this possible!”
The man’s heart raced as he ran back desperately, glancing over his shoulder occasionally to check if she was chasing him.
But the woman merely watched him flee, her crimson eyes devoid of any emotion.
When the man thought he had finally shaken her off, he found himself back at the same spot!
Changing his path, he ran again, only to end up back where he started.
“Aaaaah!!!”
The man screamed in despair, raising his sword and slashing wildly at her.
The Woman in Red took a step forward, her red figure passing through him. The man fell to the ground, blood gushing from his chest, and in the woman’s hand was his heart.
She dropped the heart and walked toward Hu Sheng step by step.
“You! Don’t come near me! Stay away!”
Hu Sheng sat paralyzed on the ground.
This wasn’t the first time Hu Sheng had seen this woman.
Hu Sheng had encountered her before.
After killing several people, the woman had left.
And those who survived meeting her either ended up dead or were solely focused on escaping—they wouldn’t dare think about raiding others.
The Woman in Red looked at Hu Sheng and smiled gently.
Her smile was breathtakingly beautiful, leaving Hu Sheng momentarily dazed. He hadn’t expected such a serene smile from her!
“The next time we meet, I’ll kill you,” she said softly.
With that, she vanished into thin air, leaving Hu Sheng leaning against the rock wall amidst piles of corpses.
Meanwhile…
Ming and Shixin arrived at the entrance of a mountain cave.
Ming took out a map and examined it.
“Hmm, this should be the Sama Cave,” Ming said.
Shixin shook her head. “I don’t know where we are.”
Ming chuckled. “It’s a place infested with bandits. Rumor has it that the Sama Cave holds the greatest treasure in the Rootless Mystic Realm, though no one has ever seen it. Shall we take a look?”
Shixin nodded. “Wherever you go, I will follow.”
“Can you stop saying things like that?” Ming complained.
“Why?” Shixin tilted her head.
“Because it feels like you’re eloping with me.”
Ming sighed and headed towards the cave.
“Let’s go inside and take a look.”
