Chapter 337: Does Bihulu Lake Have Dragons?
“Shixin, where are we?” Shixin looked around and asked curiously.
“Bihulu Lake.” Ming yawned; these days in the Rootless Mystic Realm had been nothing but battles. Everyone was exhausted.
“But there’s no lake here,” Shixin said again, seeing only a world of snow and ice.
“This isn’t Bihulu Lake yet,” Ming replied exasperatedly, checking the map. “This place is on the edge of Bihulu Lake. If we keep going north, we’ll reach the real Bihulu Lake.”
“Ohhh,” Shixin nodded, hugging the little Chaos幼崽 tighter to keep it warm.
The little Chaos幼崽 was already bundled up by Shixin.
Actually, Shixin wanted the Chaos幼崽 to rest inside the storage bag.
But Ming kept saying that being in the storage bag wasn’t good for its development and that Chaos creatures couldn’t be frozen.
In the end, Shixin believed Ming’s nonsense but took out clothes from the storage bag and wrapped the Chaos creature up.
“Does Bihulu Lake have dragons?” After walking for about the time it takes to burn an incense stick, Shixin looked up and asked Ming again.
“I don’t know,” Ming shrugged. “But logically speaking, since it’s called Bihulu Lake, there should be dragons. However, after so many openings of the Rootless Mystic Realm, it seems no one has seen them.”
“But this time you might see one. This is the last opening of the Rootless Mystic Realm, after all. If Bihulu Lake really has high-level creatures like dragons, they would probably want to leave this place and go to the outside world instead of perishing with the Rootless Mystic Realm.”
Ming deduced.
“Ohhh,” Shixin nodded again.
Shixin was actually quite looking forward to it since she herself had never seen a dragon.
Even though all of this was just Ming’s deduction.
But Shixin trusted Ming. If Ming said there were dragons, then there was a big possibility that there truly were dragons.
The two continued their journey, chatting casually. Whenever Shixin thought of something, she would talk to Ming about it.
Ming answered what he could and admitted ignorance when he didn’t know.
There was a strange sense of harmony between the two.
Their interactions during this period were always like this, quite comfortable.
Shixin showed her true self to Ming, and Ming didn’t need to hide anything from Shixin. He was who he was.
After walking for about half an hour, the further they went, the heavier the snowfall became.
Ming’s hair was dusted with snow, and Shixin’s bald head looked like it was wearing a white hat.
On their way, Ming and Shixin encountered many cultivators.
But due to the heavy wind and snow, and the fact that after so many days of the Rootless Mystic Realm being open, those still alive had some serious skills.
So generally, no one dared to attack lightly.
They feared that if they moved, they might be the ones to disappear.
As they continued forward,
Ming and Shixin saw numerous ice statues.
These ice statues weren’t artworks; they were humans and demons frozen solid.
Some looked terrified, as if they had encountered something horrifying before death, their expressions frozen at the moment of death.
Others looked calm, as if they were walking along and suddenly froze into ice statues.
Cultivators moved cautiously among these ice statues, wary of meeting the same fate.
“Stay close. This place doesn’t seem simple,” Ming said to Shixin.
Except for the Blood Bodhi Mountain, where the enemies were only cultivators,
this place was likely also guarded by something, like the Sama Cave.
It could be a person or a divine beast, but it wouldn’t be easy.
“Hmm,” Shixin nodded and placed the Chaos幼崽 back into the storage bag, readying herself for any potential battle.
Shixin glanced at Ming’s clothing corner, blinked softly, and reached out to pinch it.
Ming felt his clothing being pulled and turned to see Shixin’s golden eyes.
“I’m scared I’ll get lost,” Shixin explained.
“Then hold on tight,” Ming simply said.
Shixin nodded and gripped Ming’s clothing even tighter.
“Aah!”
Suddenly, not far away, a scream broke the silence.
Ming and Shixin looked in the direction of the scream and saw a cultivator being chopped down by surrounding ice statues. Immediately, nearby ice statues sprang to life, raising their weapons and mercilessly hacking at the cultivator.
Within moments, the cultivator was hacked to pieces, blood splattered everywhere, and body parts scattered grotesquely.
Such pure brutality made even Shixin feel uneasy, and Ming frowned deeply.
Fortunately, these ice statues seemed unable—or perhaps lacked the consciousness—to destroy others’ Divine Souls, so these people should still be able to reincarnate.
Whether they could recover their memories from their past lives depended on their fortune in the next.
Most cultivators only unlock their past-life memories upon reaching the Jade Pudding Realm. Even if they were exceptionally talented, it would at least take reaching the Nascent Soul Stage.
“Xu Ming!”
Just as Ming was pondering the situation of this place, Shixin softly called out.
Ming turned to see an ice statue wielding a massive axe swinging down toward him.
But Shixin’s spell had already enveloped Ming.
“Clang!” The axe was deflected.
“What the hell is this?”
Ming cursed, throwing a punch and shattering the ice statue.
However, more and more ice statues began to “awaken.”
They shook off the snow and attacked the cultivators one by one.
Fortunately, these cultivators were dead beyond doubt. Even in attack, they used only basic spells, moved slowly, and didn’t know how to dodge attacks.
Therefore, these ice statues were relatively easy to kill.
But there were just too many of them.
Moreover, despite their limited abilities, their sheer numbers were troublesome.
“Hold on, I’m charging forward!” Ming said to Shixin.
Ming decided they needed to leave this place quickly.
Shixin nodded.
Ming threw a punch, the force like a cannonball, blasting a path forward.
Ming grabbed Shixin’s wrist and ran ahead.
At the same time, amidst the wind and snow, something opened its eyes.
