Chapter 38: Situation Report

Chapter 38: Situation Report

“Ah!”

Weirafiya let out a painful scream that sent a chill running through Yake and Yaser’s nether regions.

“Aierjisi, what are you doing? Why are you treating me like this?”

Weirafiya glared at Aierjisi, confused about what she had done to deserve such treatment.

“You really don’t get it, do you? Have you lost all sense of urgency?”

Aierjisi replied with a smile. If it weren’t for Weirafiya’s uselessness, why would she have to reprimand her like this?

“I had no idea why you were treating me like this!”

Weirafiya covered her crotch; the hit from Aierjisi earlier was still painfully fresh.

“If you have no idea, then let me enlighten you. Just look at what time it is! You still feel like napping here? We’ve already completed our Job Change Mission, and you haven’t even set out yet? You should be ashamed! With you slacking off, how can you even call yourself a player? Where did all that perseverance you had back when we were gaming go?”

Pulling Weirafiya by her collar, Aierjisi lifted her up and unleashed a tirade. Here she was, back from their mission, while Weirafiya was just lounging about, eating and drinking. If others found out that such a person was once a player who completed the game, it would be downright laughable.

“Perseverance? That’s long gone! I’ve gotten used to this lazy lifestyle. As long as you two can win, that’s fine with me! I can just ride on your coattails!”

Weirafiya had come to terms with it. After all, her teammates were so capable; why should she bother to put in effort? Just lying around to win was so much more pleasant! Whether they won or lost, she could just run away if things went south.

“Hey, stop tugging my ears, it hurts, it really hurts!”

Aierjisi angrily grabbed Weirafiya’s ears and yanked them, causing her to let out a series of whimpers.

“It seems you’ve been living too comfortably on your own. If I don’t push you a bit, you won’t even try!”

“Then how do you plan to push me?”

Weirafiya had become completely fearless at this point. She was curious about how Aierjisi intended to push her.

“How to push you? That’s easy! I don’t mind sacrificing you if it saves the world!”

Aierjisi revealed her weapon, making her intentions clear. If Weirafiya continued to slack off, she planned to take action first. After all, Gilbaris and the others were aiming to capture all three of them as sacrifices. If she took Weirafiya out first, they’d only have five sacrifices, and that last one would be impossible to find. Their god wouldn’t descend, and both this world and Earth would be saved.

“So, what will it be? Do you want to become the great savior? Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to write you into the history books, so our Blood Clan will remember the great sacrifice you made.”

“No, no, no, please, don’t! I’ll work hard, I promise!”

Weirafiya was genuinely frightened now. She had no doubt that if she continued to be lazy, Aierjisi would really take her out.

“Now that you’ve said you’d work hard, what’s your first step?”

“Um… First, I should go back to where I was born to complete my Job Change Mission.”

“That makes sense, but your first step isn’t that.”

“What is my first step, then?”

“Well, your first step is…”

Aierjisi cracked the whip in her hand, flashing a dangerously cheerful smile.

“First, get up and wash your face! It’s already this late, and you’re still lounging in bed? Do you even have any awareness of being a savior?!”

“Ah!”

Weirafiya let out a shriek and rolled off the bed, obediently heading to wash her face and brush her teeth as Aierjisi instructed.

“Yaser, keep an eye on her for a bit. We’re going to greet Gaia now and will be right back.”

“Got it! Don’t worry, I’ll guard the young lady well.”

If one didn’t know Yaser’s attitude towards Aierjisi, they might think Aierjisi was his master, not Weirafiya.

Aierjisi and Yake followed their plan and gently knocked on Gaia’s office door to check if anyone was inside.

“Who is it? Come on in, the door’s unlocked.”

After receiving permission from inside, Aierjisi and Yake opened the door and stepped inside.

“Oh, Miss Aierjisi, Mr. Yake. You two are already back? That was fast! Did you complete the enhancement?”

Seeing them return so quickly surprised Gaia.

“Yes, we’ve completed the enhancement! Thank you for your concern, Gaia.”

“Sorry, we should have returned last night, but it was too late, and I didn’t want to disturb your rest, so we came back this morning.”

Yake added a bit of clarification.

“That’s perfectly fine! Just glad you two made it back. With Ailin’s enhancement done and now you two as well, our combat strength is steadily increasing. Soon enough, we won’t have to fear those Ultimate Life Forms anymore.”

Gaia was quite pleased with the current developments. With two out of three combatants already enhanced, if Weirafiya could return to complete her enhancement, their strength would improve even further.

“Speaking of which, where’s Ailin? Shouldn’t she be here helping you with work?”

Yake noticed Ailin’s absence and found it peculiar. Didn’t she complete her enhancement yesterday morning? Why hadn’t she returned yet?

“Oh, she told me her father wanted her to spend one more night at the Ice Dragon Clan’s palace. Since she rarely gets to come home, I figured it was fine to let her stay over. She’ll be back today.”

“That makes sense.”

“You two came back after your previous return; that’s impressive! I’ll send someone to arrange rooms for you both. Make sure to rest well!”

“No, we have other things to take care of. We can’t stay here for long. We came by to discuss what we need to do next.”
