Chapter 429: Proposing Marriage in the Wu Kingdom
“What message does His Majesty wish to convey to the young lady?”
Ming asked.
Ming’s feelings towards the Dragon Empress were quite complicated at this moment.
It wasn’t like he disliked her—there was no reason for him to. After all, the mighty Empress of Ten Thousand Eons had played a jade flute just for him! When they met again, Ming didn’t even know what expression to wear around her.
But honestly, Ming felt utterly blameless. He’d been entirely passive throughout their interactions, making no moves himself.
Even if he tried resisting, it wouldn’t matter—he was too low in cultivation compared to her. She was an ancient Ascension Realm cultivator. What could he possibly do against her?
“Her Majesty wishes me to tell you to take care on your journey, Master Ming,” Xia Zhu smiled gently. “No matter what happens, you can always come to the Northern Sea. Your affairs are our affairs. We will spare no effort to assist you.”
Ming nodded. “Thank you for His Majesty’s concern. Please convey my gratitude to her through Miss Xia Zhu.”
“It is only natural.” Xia Zhu nodded and handed over a seal.
“What is this?” Ming curiously looked at the seal in his hand.
“This seal represents the State Preceptor of the Northern Sea,” Xia Zhu smiled. “From now on, Master Ming, you are our State Preceptor.”
Ming: “…”
Ming did not refuse the gift—it was clearly a gesture of goodwill from the Dragon Empress. Becoming the State Preceptor of the Northern Sea meant being under its protection. This identity might prove useful in the future.
“Also, Her Majesty wishes me to inform Master Ming that she currently cannot provide the Linglong Pearl. However, she is crafting a treasure similar to it and will send it to you when ready.”
“Her Majesty has truly thought of everything.” Ming finally put his concerns to rest.
Earlier, Ming had inquired about the ‘Linglong Pearl’ and ways to enter the Abyss. Since the Abyss was sealed, the pearl was crucial to him.
The Dragon Empress had said there was no way to retrieve it.
Knowing he couldn’t obtain the pearl, Ming decided to leave without hesitation.
But unexpectedly, the Dragon Empress had already devised a solution.
Since she promised a substitute for the Linglong Pearl and would deliver it personally, Ming fully trusted her.
“Besides these matters, Her Majesty has one final message for you.”
Ming nodded. “What is it?”
Xia Zhu smirked. “When the issues of the Four Seas are mostly resolved, the Northern Sea will propose marriage to the Wu Kingdom.”
Ming: “…”
Ming really wanted to say that this last statement was unnecessary—but if he voiced it, he knew he’d never be able to leave.
“The message has been delivered. Master Ming, please travel safely and may your journey be smooth.” Xia Zhu poured a cup of wine and offered it with both hands.
Looking at the crimson wine in the glass, Ming drank it in one gulp.
After handing back the cup and bowing, Ming quickly took off toward the Wu Kingdom.
Ming felt he couldn’t stay in the Wu Kingdom any longer. As long as he traveled far and wide, the Dragon Empress wouldn’t find him, right? Ming flew further away from the Wu Kingdom.
At the same time, on the star-viewing platform of the Dragon Palace, the Dragon Empress stood gazing in the direction Ming had left.
Just as Ming had said, every move he made was within the Dragon Empress’s sight.
“Why didn’t Your Majesty keep Master Xu here?”
Little Blue, serving beside the Dragon Empress, asked curiously. In Little Blue’s opinion, since His Majesty had found him, there was no reason to let Master Xu leave.
The Dragon Empress shook her head. “With the chaos in the Four Seas ahead, the more I value him, the more dangerous it becomes for him here. Now that he returns to the Wu Kingdom, he’ll be safest. Besides, I’m no longer worried about him running away.”
As she spoke, the Dragon Empress summoned a wine jug with a flick of her sleeve.
She poured herself a cup of wine identical to the one Ming had drunk earlier.
Tilting her head back, she drank it all in one go.
In the instant the red wine entered her stomach, a thin red line appeared on her little finger of her right hand, pointing in the direction where Ming was flying further away.
The Eastern Sea.
After the Eastern Sea Dragon King Long Wang Teng perished, like the other seas, it fell into chaos.
Unlike the others, though, the Eastern Sea lacked a Dragon King.
Not only had the Eastern Sea Dragon King died suddenly, but also none of the princes had inherited the throne or activated the magic array.
Thus, the entire Eastern Sea could only rely on the lives of its warriors to counter the monsters emerging from the Abyss!
Especially the terrifying entity that escaped from the abyss.
Even all the palace elders combined couldn’t match its strength.
Fortunately, its power wasn’t as exaggerated as feared, and due to being trapped in the Eastern Sea Abyss for so long, upon release, it wasn’t familiar with the world’s arrays yet. It couldn’t destroy the entire Eastern Sea.
After slaughtering countless warriors, it seemed to have vented its anger and followed a woman in a red dress out of the Eastern Sea.
“Hmph, the air outside is much better!” The bare-chested man chuckled and glanced at the woman beside him. “I wonder where you’re taking me, miss?”
The woman in red smiled faintly at the man and replied softly with three words: “Mount Zhongyan.”
“Mount Zhongyan? What place is that?” The man asked curiously. “Although you did save me, let’s make one thing clear—I won’t owe you any favors. Your master shouldn’t think they can command me around.”
Mei Hongyu still smiled gently. “Don’t worry, elder. We won’t order you to do anything. My teacher merely wishes to catch up with you.”
Hearing Mei Hongyu’s words, the man felt amused. “Catch up? Who is your teacher?”
In the man’s view, there should be no one left in this world who deserved to reconnect with him after such a long time.
“My teacher is known as the Elder of the End by the world,” Mei Hongyu slowly said, then added the true name…
Upon hearing the name, the man furrowed his brows. “That indeed calls for a reunion.”
