Chapter 52: I Won’t Run Away

Chapter 52: I Won’t Run Away

“This God Palace is designed too poorly, right? Why are there so many traps?”

Yake and the others were still pushing forward toward Weirafiya’s group. However, they had encountered quite a few traps along the way. If it weren’t for Aierjisi using Wind Magic just in time to lift them up, Yake would have been turned into roasted meat by now!

Although, to be honest, he could already smell a bit of burning from his backside.

【Alright, alright, no more complaining. I’m no longer just using Wind Magic to float you along.】

Aierjisi was also voicing her frustration inside Yake’s body. They had to speed up and catch up; if Yake ran on his own, it would take too long. So now, they were using wind magic to propel him forward, which was definitely faster than before.

Still, they encountered many traps along the way. Like that chain trap Weirafiya and the others faced earlier, which tied Yake up tightly. He had to unleash some strength to break free from those chains to continue moving.

【Found it! That guy Gilbaris is right up ahead!】

Through Yake’s eyes, Aierjisi saw Gilbaris hiding outside the door.

“Yeah, I see him too! Gilbaris! You jerk, I’m here to settle the score for our last battle!”

Yake shouted as he charged at Gilbaris, throwing fists.

“You two are really annoying! I already told you, my target this time isn’t you two. You still came chasing after me! This is what they call heaven; a way you won’t take while you throw yourself into hell, right? Fine. Since you both want to fight me that badly, let’s have a good battle then.”

Gilbaris was furious with these two. He had barely escaped them, and they were on his tail again!

“Of course! I won’t let you interfere with Weirafiya and the others!”

Yake grabbed Gilbaris and pulled him away to another spot.

“Miss, it looks like Mr. Yake is fighting someone over there.”

Yaser noticed something unusual by the doorway. He vaguely saw Yake’s figure. Could it be that the guy named Gilbaris had already brought the fight inside?

“Yaser, don’t get distracted during battle. Leave Gilbaris to them; we need to focus on this Ifrit.”

Weirafiya was flying in the air, dodging attacks. Their situation wasn’t optimistic, so there was no time to check on Yake and the others.

“Got it. Sorry about that, Miss. I’ll concentrate on the fight.”

Yaser redirected his focus to the Ifrit, raising his sword and swinging it at the creature as Weirafiya passed by.

“Miss, do you have any powerful finishing moves? At this rate, I don’t know how long it will take to take it down with just these light cuts.”

Yaser realized his attacks were hardly hurting the Ifrit. While a slow and steady approach might eventually win, he’d probably run out of stamina before defeating it.

“A finishing move? Of course, I have one. But even if I use it, I can’t completely defeat it. That’s why I’m engaging in this drawn-out combat for now. When my finishing move can take it down in one hit, I will definitely use it.”

“I see. As expected of you, Miss, to think of such a comprehensive plan.”

Yaser felt the greatness of his lady once more. She wanted to keep the Ifrit’s health low enough to use her finishing move for a clean kill. Truly impressive.

Of course, what she just said was just a cover. She didn’t think that much; the Ifrit’s strength was incredibly powerful, and in the game, it took a team to defeat it. Right now, all they had was Yaser. Well, Yaser’s fighting power was negligible against Ifrit, so it was as if he didn’t exist.

With her current power, the only option was to engage in a war of attrition with the Ifrit.

Weirafiya wanted to play a game of attrition, but the Ifrit had other ideas. It quickly caught on to her plan and jumped up, striking Weirafiya down to the ground, leaving her unable to get up.

“Ah!”

Weirafiya let out a scream as she fell to the ground. Birds like the Phoenix had very fragile bodies. Even a normal attack from Ifrit was enough to keep her pinned down for a while.

“Miss?! Are you okay?!”

Yaser exclaimed, instinctively jumping down before she fell, landing smoothly. But Weirafiya was already out of control, crashing down to the floor tragically.

“Can’t you see I’m in terrible shape?”

“Then what should we do now, Miss? I’ll buy you a week of time!”

“No, you can’t do anything. You should just run away on your own. I really can’t beat this guy; I surrender.”

Weirafiya knew just how weak Yaser was; she couldn’t even handle it herself, let alone expect him to take on an Ifrit that could easily incapacitate her.

“No way, Miss! Didn’t we agree to stick together until the end? I can’t just bail now!”

Yaser wasn’t going to listen to Weirafiya’s words. He drew his sword and stood in front of Ifrit, blocking its path.

“That was just a joke, and you took it seriously? Yaser, don’t mind me and just hurry and run. This is a command from your master, and you must obey.”

Weirafiya didn’t want to see her servant risk his life for her. Coming here was her choice, and if she died here, it was due to her own actions, and she accepted that.

But Yaser was different. He was brought here by her; he didn’t have to die because of her choices.
