Chapter 729

〈 Chapter 729 〉 Part 2, Chapter 5, Episode 22

Before engaging in battle, I had to first gauge the full strength of the magical girls.

“Squad review.”

Just before a boss fight, it was essential to assess my teammates’ power levels and determine how much reinforcement we needed for the next chapter’s battles.

First up: Yuinah.

Through consistent magic supply, she had reached an impressive level 40 in Light Attribute. Considering she started at E-Rank with only 10 Light Attribute, this meant I’d replenished her magic roughly thirty times by now.

‘Speaking in terms of… well, you know… that would be over a hundred sessions at least.’

Given that each session involved about three climaxes, multiplying her level increase by 3.3 gave us a staggering count of around one hundred encounters.

‘Essentially, we’ve been doing it daily.’

Compared to other heroines, Yuinah’s number was overwhelmingly high—she might as well have been addicted to it. But despite all this, she remained faithful exclusively to me.

The epitome of a commander-obsessed character.

Being the main heroine wasn’t just a title; during these three months, her growth wasn’t solely due to absorbing my magic power.

“Doesn’t this mean she could already operate as a solo hunter without issue?”

[She could even take down a Level 45 monster on her own.]

Together, we analyzed her combat stats.

-Even if her level is five below the target, it’s still doable with some practice.

-Five days locked in a hotel room together should get her to the same level; what’s the problem? 😄

-Soft-bodied dark attribute monsters are no match for her light bombs; they’re practically kings against those types!

Our mini phoenixes eagerly chimed in, excited by the rare opportunity for a couple’s team play.

“But what we expect from Yuinah isn’t just her level-matching strength.”

[Field Commander. Her ability to apply academy theories to real-world situations is top-notch.]

“Tanking through barrier deployment using magic output, dealing damage with light bombs from afar, and even healing because of her light attribute—she can tank, deal damage, and heal all by herself while also commanding tactics!”

[She truly deserves the title of Raid Goddess, <Maiden Saint>.]

Excluding melee combat, she possesses everything—an ideal custom hunter for our monster-hunting game. With proper training, her close-range attacks could eventually rival those of Qingyun or Military God.

A complete package worthy of being called a One-Man Army.

In a game centered around monster hunters, Yuinah represents the customizable hunter that the protagonist can nurture. For players who lack personal combat skills, Yuinah serves as compensation, allowing them to tailor her development according to their preferred playstyle.

Extreme Damage Dealer Yuinah.

Supporting Role Yuinah.

Wizard-Type Yuinah.

Battlefield Commander Yuinah.

This versatile heroine brims with infinite potential. Our team’s <Magical Girl Yuinah> excels in every area except close combat.

“Therefore, Yuinah is a guaranteed first pick.”

When forming a team of three for main battles, basing the rest of the lineup around Yuinah is both the most efficient and effective strategy. Now, the task remains to choose two more members to join her on the battlefield and form a reserve force.

“Let’s exclude Raon for now?”

[It wasn’t intentional, but a betrayal gimmick has been attached to her.]

During Penril’s second battle, the villain will possess one of the heroines. I’ve designated Raon as this betrayer, setting up a confrontation between Raon (possessed by Penril/Penris) and Seok Harang.

“This wouldn’t be an issue if it were a first-time run…”

[Handing resources to a character destined to betray the group is foolish.]

If a character turns against the protagonist mid-battle?

Nine out of ten times, their equipment would be stripped. Even if it’s limited to one instance, why give someone tools meant to kill enemies when they’ll use them against allies?

“So, let’s strip Raon of her gear. Should we send her out naked?”

[That’s excessive. Let’s order her a basic magical girl outfit for cosplay sex instead. If we ask Yun Yuhwa to make it while giving him a Wind Attribute Core, he’ll have it done in a day.]

“And the reason?”

[…Cosplay sex?]

Of course. After organizing a text message to Yun Yuhwa, I resolved Raon’s situation promptly.

Raon won’t receive a Battle Suit powered by a B-Rank Core but rather a magical girl outfit designed specifically for cosplay purposes.

That’s the optimal “battle preparation” for a teammate tagged with a betrayal gimmick.

“So, now we need to gather the remaining forces…”

Now comes the selection process. I carefully reviewed each officially registered member of our team.

Kim Nori, Water Attribute C+.

Kim Gaon, Water Attribute A+.

Jeong Su Ri, Fire Attribute A+.

Ha Yu-eun (Yuha), Light Attribute C+.

Cheon Gaeul, Illusion Magic A+.

And Seok Harang, Water Attribute SSS.

“It seems our second and third picks are set.”

[The values shown in data don’t always reflect true combat power.]

No matter the boss battle, leveling up cannot be ignored. Killing monsters doesn’t directly raise magic levels, but experience in battle matters.

“I’ll pick Nori and Yuha.”

[Even if talent reaches S or A rank, actual fighting skill may not match.]

A newly awakened S-Rank user who hasn’t seen combat yet could easily panic and fall to a B-Rank monster. Thus, gaining diverse battle experiences through this Penril boss fight is necessary.

“And considering everyone’s had plenty of giant monster battles but few humanoid ones…”

South Korea has plenty of monsters, but not many monster-men, right?

“Let’s see how much strength they can muster against human-shaped foes while protecting the commander.”

[While safeguarding the commander.]

A self-created mission:

Protect the commander from monster-men seeking to violate her.

Yeongjong Island.

Returning to the game, I gathered all team members for introductions.

“This is Penril. She betrayed the Dark Legion and became our Magical Girl Team ‘Magical QwQ’s mascot.”

“I’ll kill anyone who says weird nonsense, nya.”

Though joking, Penril’s sharp claws caused immediate tension among the others, who prepared their weapons instinctively.

“Could it be… that former bodyguard…”

“Isn’t ‘Gale Penril’ supposed to be dead?”

“That’s right.”

Kyuqkyuq.

“…So after betraying the Dark Legion, she disguised herself as Gale Penril under the guise of a Wind Dragon?”

“Exactly. Identity laundering.”

Thanks to her activities in the UK, Dark Legion officer Gale Penril became the SSS-Rank ‘Hero’ Penris Park. Though problematic in various ways, the team’s biggest concern was undoubtedly the infamous Blood Week incident.

“But Gale Penril…isn’t she a monster?”

“She killed hundreds of millions.”

From December 25th, 1999, at midnight to December 31st at 23:59, the seven monsters, including Gale Penril, claimed lives numbering in the billions.

To some, she might be considered a war criminal or a historical sinner. Could such a figure really be so easily welcomed as an ally? It’s not something easily dismissed, especially since for the characters within the game, this was a very real catastrophe.

But there’s a convenient plot device to quell dissent—the existence of brainwashing.

“Officers were actually brainwashed. They were remodeled into killing machines by the Dark Legion leader.”

“Huh?”

“What did you say?”

“Is that…real?!”

The shocking truth behind the Dark Legion officers left even the traitor herself speechless.

“Y-you, Penril? Why are you surprised?”

“Well, I didn’t know that either.”

An officer realizing they were brainwashed leads to awakening as a spirit. Upon hearing this revelation, Penril’s wolf ears perked up, and her eyes widened in surprise.

“So…I did those things because I was brainwashed…?”

“Yeah. That’s why you became ‘Gale Penril.’ Originally, you might’ve just been a regular Penril.”

Frrr…

Shaken by the revelation, Penril’s ears trembled violently, unable to settle down.

“I…acted this way all along because I was brainwashed? Can’t be…”

“You still like mint chocolate though, so not everything was forced upon you.”

“Then that’s fine, nya!”

Penril quickly accepted it. Clutching her ears joyfully, she grinned.

Smiling softly, Penril offered her thanks to me. Thanks to my revelation, she had become aware of her true self.

“Heheh, I am Kim Penril of Magical Girl Team ‘Magical QwQ!’ Normally, I’m a green cat-eared maid working in the office, but in reality, I’m the SSS-Rank Hero <Banargande>, ever vigilant beside the commander! Please look after me, nya!”

And thanks to the power of the Cube embedded in her left eye, Penril knew the spirit Gale sealed in her ear couldn’t overwhelm her awakened self.

“Even with Spirit Awakening? With the spirit Gale sealed in my ear, how could I awaken anyway?”

Long live the Cube.

As long as Mint beams remain in her eyes, Gale will never stand a chance against Penril’s firmly established sense of self.

“Penril…no, Penris. Can we really trust you?”

“Of course! I’ll prove my resolve, nya! As penance for the harm I caused while under brainwashing…”

Penril issued a single bold challenge to the magical girls.

“For every person harmed by me, I’ll bear the commander’s child, nya!”

And thus begins Chapter 2: The Boss Fight Against Gale Penril.
