EP.852 Part 3 Chapter 2 Scene 26 At the Heart of Tera
“Hold the line! Hold on no matter what!!”
Gray was encouraging the members of the Blue Wind Sect.
He had no choice but to encourage them.
If this line fell now, the enemies would mercilessly trample over them.
“Think of the children! Don’t retreat!”
The situation was unfavorable.
No matter how far they tried to bombard from a distance, once the enemies got closer than the range their attacks could reach, they were forced into close combat.
“Kraaaahh!!”
The Gaiananachis screamed and collapsed.
The blue flames clinging to their bodies clung on until they had consumed all the magic power of one soldier, and sure enough, the enemies began to fall one by one.
However, those who fell started getting up again, because although their magic power had completely faded, their stamina hadn’t diminished.
Non-lethal.
All attacks from the Blue Wind Sect carried the spirit of Chang-yeom, so while they might be effective against those who wield spirits or magic power, they weren’t very effective against those heavily armed with guns.
To truly kill the enemy, they’d have to resort to real lethal force, but the leader of the Blue Wind Sect didn’t want to kill the enemy.
There are really those who need to die, and they must be dealt with.
It’s meaningless for people of Tera to kill each other.
If there are truly repentant individuals among the Gaiananachis, let them live out their lives in atonement; only the officers and the wicked ones should face capital punishment.
So Phoenix erected a barrier to personally punish the priests.
The Blue Wind Sect’s victory plan solely relied on believing that Phoenix would defeat the priest.
“Aaaaah!”
Even as shoulder shots were taken and they faced death threats from enemy attacks, all they could do was believe and wait.
“Lord Gray! It’s too much! We should retreat…!!”
“Believe and wait!”
There was nothing else to do but believe.
“So-”
Puuk!
At the sound of gunfire from somewhere, Gray instinctively ducked. A searing pain began in his stomach, and when he placed his hand there, blood slowly began to flow.
“Lord Gray!”
“It can’t be…!”
Gray gritted his teeth and stood up.
In his vision, the largest tank was driving straight toward the enemy, shaking its body to shake off the enemies clinging to it while continuing to fire artillery furiously.
Ki-sha-aat!
And the golden spirit that burst forth from the artillery tank was also ramming into the Gaiananachis with its body to knock them away.
“Our allies from other lands are fighting this hard too. We can’t retreat!”
“Lord Gray…!”
“If I die, don’t tell anyone I’m dead! You take command! Understand?!”
Just as Gray resolved himself.
Hwaaarrrk.
The barrier disappeared, and Phoenix emerged from within.
“Eh…?”
Unlike before, Phoenix’s body emitted a golden light similar to the one the priest exuded.
“Could it be…?”
Gray despaired.
Could she have been brainwashed by the priest?
Would her head turn around any moment now and wildly slash at us with her claws?
[Divine punishment for those who falsely claim the will of God.]
Click.
“Ooooh!!”
Phoenix stretched both arms high into the sky.
Then, behind Phoenix, a massive cluster of light began to form.
“Could it be…the Goddess of Earth…?”
Behind Phoenix, an image of the Earth Mother Goddess appeared as if embracing Phoenix.
And the Earth Mother Goddess began to cradle not the priest but Phoenix, as if lovingly holding something precious.
“Oh, it’s true…!”
Gray cried out in frustration.
“Everyone, brace for impact!!!”
Gray and all the members of the Blue Wind Sect hid behind the destruction tanks.
And then…
[Blazing Phoenix Revival.]
□□□□□□□────────!!
A tremendous shockwave shook the earth.
* * *
Ji Ryun Kaijin.
Doesn’t exist.
I am of Chang-yeom, and Ji Ryun cannot replace the name of Chang-yeom.
But right now, I’m fighting using Yuna’s, Ji Ryun’s power.
To knock down all the Gaiananachis, I’m utilizing Ji Ryun’s power, and even my ultimate skill is employing Ji Ryun’s power to its fullest extent.
Dilemma.
Can I use Ji Ryun’s name as it is?
Other than that, can I include Ji Ryun in ‘Chang-yeom Kaijin’?
No.
That’s why I did it.
Chang-yeom Kaijin.
-Yuna Kaijin would be better!
‘That won’t work.’
-Right now, I’m your support character!
‘Does this kid read too many novels these days?’
Because I’m in sync with Yuna just like during the Phoenix era when I was in sync with Chang-yeom, Yuna started talking.
‘Even though you’re giving me strength now, aren’t you more like a goddess than a seat of power?’
-I may be a goddess, but this isn’t Ground Zero, nor is it Ji Ryun Kaijin. If you’re calling yourself Ji Ryun’s Phoenix, what’s this ‘Chang-yeom Kaijin’? Call it again properly! Like it’s a secondary ultimate!
‘Won’t work.’
-What exactly is this ‘Chang-yeom Kaijin’?!
‘Fundamentally.’
Dyeing your hair doesn’t change the color of the roots unless you do root touch-up. Right now, I’m just coloring it.
Even if the magic power flowing through my body is durability magic power, since all the power remaining in this avatar originates from Chang-yeom, my ultimate is ‘Chang-yeom Kaijin’.
Still, can we call it ‘Chang-yeom Kaijin (Yuna)’?
[Behold, the wrath of God.]
The ground shakes.
The earth trembles.
The entire land quakes.
The passage where the Kingdom of Gaiana was built began to shake, and I extended my hand downward, twisting all my strength.
Guh-guh-guh.
A harsh vibration echoes.
As ominous signs of something bad happening spread, the enemies, including the priest, stopped hesitating and aimed their guns at me to attack.
-Ah, ah—–
Yuna, standing protectively in front of me, opened her mouth as if singing.
Since she possesses Ji Ryun’s power and the power of the Earth Mother Goddess, her words are practically divine utterances to the people of the Kingdom of Gaiana.
-He’s Gone-
[…….]
Yuna isn’t ordinary either.
When she crossed over to reality, the Yuna who had spent 20 years on Earth changed significantly from the original Yuna I knew.
-Out of my life-
Of course, the meaning of Yuna’s words isn’t directly conveyed. She’s speaking Korean, and only immense sound waves infused with sacred magical power are spreading.
Thud-thud-thud-dum.
The ground violently shakes.
An explosion occurs on the ground, sending pillars of fire soaring.
The rhythm matches drum beats perfectly.
Yuna just wants to sing.
Like grabbing a microphone at a coin karaoke booth and belting out a song, she simply wants to sing in front of everyone with me standing there.
However…
-I can’t live without his love.
“Aah, my Lord…!!”
“Praise the Lord…!”
“The Lord… snif… has given us a song…!!”
The soldiers of the Kingdom of Gaiana begin kneeling one by one to worship the deity.
Her sweet voice tickling the ears and the heartfelt lyrics delivered with sincerity resonated deeply.
-I’m wasting away.
It’s like when you don’t understand English well or when a Korean singer’s lyrics aren’t clear because of poor hearing.
While some foreigners find it hard to understand Korean singers singing in English despite knowing the language, the emotions conveyed through the pitch are unmistakable.
Regardless of being extraterrestrial, Yuna speaks textbook Korean English.
She’s a native Korean who’s barely been abroad for a few months.
Thus, Yuna’s song shakes with magic, but the lyrics don’t get across. It merely sounds like a sorrowful aria of a goddess.
‘But will focusing on the song help?’
Yuna’s song isn’t ‘Chang-yeom Kaijin’.
She’s merely drawing attention with her song before ‘something’ happens.
-Forgive me
‘Got it.’
Something big is coming.
A true ‘Chang-yeom Kaijin’ that will sweep away all the enemies!
-□ㅡㅡㅡ□□ㅡㅡㅡㅡ□□□ㅡㅡㅡ□□□□□ㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡㅡ!!
Kwa────────ang!!
The ground below exploded, and a massive pillar of blue fire shot up. The flames soared from below toward the ceiling like a fountain, spreading in all directions.
“What, what is this?!”
“Is, is this the wrath of God…?!”
This isn’t a natural phenomenon.
Anyone can see it.
-□□□ㅡㅡ□ □ □□□ □ □—-!!
The divine voice crescendos, and the flames explode upward from below in all directions.
As if encircling the enemies’ camp where the Gaiinanachis are positioned in a circle around me, the Chang-yeom flamboyantly engulfs the foes.
[Let everything return to nothingness.]
There’s no escape underground or to the ceiling.
Yuna’s technique wraps everything in dirt, but this ‘Chang-yeom Kaijin’ wraps everything in flames.
As if some island’s field is contracting, the Chang-yeom begins to slowly gather toward the center.
“Uh, ughhh! Run away!!”
“Escape? Ha, where to? This is the will of God.”
Some tremble in fear, others open their arms willingly to accept it.
“Kiaaaaaaaak!!”
All are engulfed by the Chang-yeom flames.
I opened my arms toward them, and the trembling priest quietly bowed his head low.
Pshhuuut.
Blood fountains erupted from his ears.
I thought this kind of thing only happened in manga, but it seems the excessive magic power pumped in to protect his eardrums burst.
‘Eardrums are meaningless anyway.’
An attack that shakes all magic power means there’s no meaning outside escaping the range. And even a little delay results in such fiery barriers wrapping around.
Thus.
All magic power within the area burns in the blue flames, turning all spirits to – zero.
Behold, Ground Zero.
Ah.
Though I borrow Yuna’s power to use it,
my voice comes out as mine.
Deh-deh.
* * *
“That brat, Yuna…”
“What a good song, isn’t it?”
“Copyright…!!”
“Oops.”
The ‘Chang-yeom Kaijin (Earth)’ vanished.
