<Chapter 1289> 1289. The Plum Sword Master Reincarnated Into the Viscount Family
After donating his sympathy to a cheap prostitute, Kyle returned to the Huashan Sect with a deflated stride.
He abandoned his daily training and sat there blankly, passing time. Nothing was getting done. Images of Eugene, Silli, and the cheap prostitute kept appearing and disappearing in his mind.
Perhaps because he had rolled around with the prostitute to satisfy his lust, fortunately, there were no signs of entering demonic possession.
Kyle also somewhat anticipated the relationship between Eugene and Silli. That day, during the festival, Eugene and Silli clearly didn’t seem like an ordinary man-woman pair.
After some time, a familiar presence was felt.
Kyle looked out the window. He saw Silli running toward the Huashan Sect. Judging by the sweat on her face, it wasn’t hard to guess what she had been up to just moments ago.
“…”
Kyle let out a heavy sigh.
There was nothing he could say to Silli. He and Silli had a strictly employer-employee relationship—nothing more, nothing less. He had no grounds to interfere in her personal life.
A few days passed.
Kyle began noticing that people seemed different to him somehow. Especially when he looked at women, strange thoughts frequently arose.
When he watched Silli work, her naked body would come to mind alongside Eugene. For instance, when she bent over to clean the oven, thrusting her butt back, Kyle couldn’t help but imagine Eugene grabbing her hips and thrusting into her.
Each time this happened, Kyle despised himself while simultaneously feeling curiosity and lust. How different were Silli and the prostitute, really? This question lingered in his mind.
It was the same with other women. Thoughts about their naked bodies or how they might look during sex kept popping up.
This was affliction.
Whenever Kyle felt afflicted, he focused on his training. The best way to shake off such torment was to concentrate on something else.
Then one day, Silli came to see him.
“Kyle, I’m sorry, but starting next week, I won’t be able to work at the Huashan Sect.”
“…Why? Is the work too hard?”
“It’s not that. I’ve decided to work at Lord Frucos’ mansion.”
“Frucos’ mansion…? You’re moving up in the world.”
“Yeah, I got lucky.”
Not luck—it’s because she sold herself to Eugene.
Kyle was startled by this thought that unconsciously surfaced. It was a dismissive thought toward Silli. This mindset wouldn’t do.
“Congratulations.”
“Thanks, Kyle.”
Silli smiled brightly. Her pure and beautiful smile made Kyle’s heart skip a beat. Forcing a smile, he turned away from her.
Back in his room, Kyle sat cross-legged on the floor as if to calm his complicated emotions and began meditating.
Suddenly, Yuria and Yoojin came to mind.
Yuria and Yoojin are currently engaged. They will officially marry once the war ends—it’s going to be a grand wedding, no doubt.
“…But Silly and Martina are coming to the mansion?”
Silly and Martina. Those two were Yoojin’s mistresses. If the world found out that Lord Fruckas of the East was involved in such an inappropriate relationship with them… they’d be condemned. Most importantly, isn’t it pitiful for Yuria, who is set to marry Yoojin?
“At this rate, Yuria and Yoojin are just heading toward ruin…”
Yoojin doesn’t deserve sympathy—he committed adultery, straying from his duty and must face the consequences. But Yuria? She’s blameless. She’s merely the victim here.
“Huuuuh…”
Kail couldn’t focus on his meditation and stood up.
He tidied his clothes, preparing to visit the main Fruckas estate. His resolve was firm, though he had no intention of making this scandal public. Even if Yoojin had sinned, he was still Kail’s younger brother.
Kail suffered in anguish, tormented by conflicting emotions as he approached the Fruckas mansion.
Yoojin wasn’t there.
According to the butler, he’d been leaving in the morning and returning only in the evening lately. What Yoojin was doing outside was obvious.
Kail sighed. Wasn’t this too blatant? Too carefree?
Kail quietly waited for Yuria in the reception room.
Soon, Yuria entered the room. She wore a dress in shades of blue, adorned with tasteful jewelry encrusted with dazzling gems. Her calm grace and beauty left Kail momentarily distracted.
“Lord Kail. It’s been a while. I heard you wished to speak with me.”
Kail opened and closed his mouth several times, unsure if this was truly the right thing to do. But if he didn’t step in now, Yuria, the innocent victim, would face even greater ruin.
With his resolve hardened, Kail spoke.
“Yuria… as hard as this may be to believe… Yoojin is committing adultery.”
“Adultery… you say?”
“Yoojin has a mistress among the commoners. To be honest, I debated whether or not to tell you this… but I wanted to spare you pain.”
Kail was taken aback by Yuria’s calmness. Hearing about her fiancé’s betrayal, she showed no sign of disturbance. With icy blue eyes, she looked at Kail and asked,
“What do you expect me to do, Lord Kail?”
“What do I expect…?”
Unconsciously, Kail frowned. Why had he come? Was it truly for Yuria’s sake?
Kail felt the ugly emotions brewing inside him—anger, jealousy, hatred toward Yoojin—and realized he still hadn’t let go of Yuria. Heaving another deep sigh, Kail closed his eyes briefly before reopening them.
“To be honest… I want you to break off your engagement with Yoojin. He’s not the man for you.”
“If Yoojin isn’t suitable for me… then who is?”
Kail choked on his breath at Yuria’s question.
Looking at his empty left sleeve, he managed to force out the words:
“It’s me… I can make you happy! Far more than Yoojin ever could! And I won’t stray!”
The corners of Yuria’s lips twitched upward. A mocking smirk escaped her lips.
“Forgive me—I momentarily lost my composure. Lord Kail, allow me to share my true feelings about you.”
Yuria’s aura…
It’s over. Yuria’s gaze locked onto Kyle with eyes brimming with disdain, her expression colder than ice. Kyle felt his heart plummet like a stone dropped into an abyss. He barely managed to hold onto his consciousness as it threatened to slip away, desperately wanting nothing more than to escape this moment.
“At first, I didn’t think much of you, Kyle-sama. But then you started getting closer… and annoying. Now, it’s beyond mere annoyance—it’s irritating. To be honest, I wish you’d quietly die somewhere out of sight, but since you’re Eugene’s brother, that’s probably not possible.”
Yuria’s oppressive aura tightened its grip on Kyle, leaving him drenched in cold sweat as he wiped his forehead repeatedly with the back of his hand. Under her scornful glare, he felt like a bug squirming underfoot.
“Let me imagine something hypothetical here. If this world were left with only me and you… without hesitation, I would choose to commit suicide.”
“Yuria… I…”
“Please don’t call my name. It makes me break out in hives just hearing it from you.”
“…”
Kyle’s head bowed low, his unfocused eyes darting around restlessly.
“In this world, the only woman suited for you is some streetwalker rolling around in the dirt.”
Kyle snapped his head up at her words, feeling his heart shatter beneath her contemptuous stare.
“H-How… how do you know about that…?”
“A prostitute came to the mansion recently trying to sell a ring. The merchants had undervalued it, so she sought fair compensation by coming directly to us. Her ring was exquisite—far too good for any ordinary prostitute, let alone one who’s old and diseased. After questioning her, we discovered where the ring came from.”
“What happened to her?”
“Eugene paid her off to keep quiet, though naturally, we didn’t buy the ring. Who wants such disgusting things anyway?”
“Eugene… he silenced her for me?”
“One hears even beasts understand gratitude. If you have even slightly more intelligence than a beast… treat Eugene well. The only reason you’re still breathing now is because of Eugene’s mercy.”
“…”
As guilt rose within him from below, Kyle closed his eyes. Everything Yuria said was true. Eugene had given far too much to this unworthy older brother, showering kindness upon someone undeserving.
“You claimed Eugene committed adultery, didn’t you? You were wrong. That wasn’t adultery.”
“Not… adultery?”
He stared at Yuria, shock written all over his face.
“It’s just a game. Those women are nothing more than toys to Eugene. They belong to his fiefdom of Prucrus; they’re his property.”
“So you knew everything… all along.”
“I don’t care how many women Eugene embraces. As long as I remain the closest one to him, none of it matters.”
Yuria smiled faintly. Kyle realized immediately that this smile wasn’t meant for him. How could she smile so serenely after knowing her fiancé’s infidelity? Yet, Kyle couldn’t bring himself to ask her anything further.
Standing up from her seat, Yuria addressed him once more.
“Kyle-sama, please refrain from catching my eye moving forward. Formal events may be unavoidable, but at least stop visiting me privately like this.”
Without waiting for his reply, Yuria turned and exited the audience chamber.
For a while, Kyle remained seated silently inside, before eventually returning to the Volcano Sect.
