<Chapter 1299> 1299. The Plum Swordmaster Reincarnated Into a Viscount Family
I walked toward where the slave soldiers who’d instigated an uprising alongside Scarlett were located.
For me, slave revolts were commonplace. Whenever a large number of slaves arrived at once, it wouldn’t take more than a few days before they banded together and rebelled—relying on their numbers.
They thought that with greater numbers, we wouldn’t dare treat them harshly.
The response was always simple:
Crush them with force.
No negotiation. If you give in once, they’ll only grow bolder and demand more.
Normally, I’d have gathered them all without hesitation and burned them to death without a word. But this was wartime—we needed those slave soldiers. Numbers were a factor you couldn’t ignore in war.
I saw the rebellious slave soldiers clutching the weapons I had provided, huddled tightly together. There were corpses of soldiers scattered around—about fifty seemed to have been killed by the slaves.
The remaining soldiers surrounded the rebels, their eyes glaring with murderous intent. The moment I gave the order, they would massacre the slaves without hesitation.
As I appeared amidst the chaos, the shouting stopped. The slaves tensed up upon seeing me, while even the rough soldiers who had been looting everything in sight now looked to me for direction.
“Viscount Prukerus…!”
One of the slaves spat out my name, his voice laced with hatred and malice. I drew my sword from my waist.
Raitenryu (Thunder Heaven Style): Rai Sen (Thunder Flash).
A sword energy wrapped in lightning shot toward the slave soldiers, slicing through them. It didn’t stop after cutting down just one—it extended further, killing over thirty slaves before vanishing into thin air.
“Viscount Prukerus!!”
“AAAAAAAAAAAA!”
“Die!!!”
The slaves charged at me. Was it courage for freedom? Absolutely not. It was anger and fear driving them forward.
‘This will be easier than expected.’
With a calm swing of my sword, I slaughtered every single slave who rushed at me. Even those who didn’t charge but stayed nearby were killed.
After eliminating about three hundred of them, silence fell. The remaining slaves carefully observed my movements, unwilling to meet the same fate foolishly.
‘Quicker cleanup than anticipated.’
The momentum shifted in my favor. Next, I needed to find the ringleader. That wasn’t hard—just look for the center of attention. And someone leading a rebellion like this usually carried an aura unlike ordinary humans.
‘That guy.’
There stood a white-haired man gripping a greatsword. Though lean, his body was muscular. He looked to be in his thirties, with a neatly trimmed white mustache.
‘Not your average guy. Judging by his presence, he might’ve been a mercenary?’
I approached the center where he stood. The slaves tried to block my path, but after slashing dozens of them to death, they retreated in fear, parting like the Red Sea.
Finally, I closed the distance until I could hear the ringleader’s voice clearly. Despite the slaves surrounding me and Scarlett, I felt no fear.
The ringleader sighed.
“I misjudged you… Viscount Prukerus. You don’t possess even the smallest shred of humanity. You’re capable of massacring us without batting an eyelid. Why did I think…”
“Ah, so your slave soldiers have shown absolute obedience to you, huh? If only I had listened to their warnings instead of ignoring them…”
“What gave you the bright idea to pull such a troublesome stunt?”
“A troublesome stunt, you say… I suspected as much. But our desperate rebellion amounted to nothing more than this in your eyes?”
He glanced around. The slave soldiers had already lost all fighting spirit. They were quivering with fear. Though they surrounded me, they themselves were surrounded by my knights and troops.
There’s no point negotiating with my life. Even if they swarm me, an Aura Master like myself can’t be touched by them.
“Lord Frucious, we don’t ask for much. We’ve accepted our fate as slaves.”
“And yet you still rebel?”
“At least… At least we wanted basic treatment. We just wished that our families wouldn’t be violated or killed for sport by the soldiers.”
“Slaves asking for too many favors, aren’t you?”
“It seems we truly cannot reason with you. Are you planning to kill us all?”
“If necessary, yes. However, this time I’ve decided to leave you in the hands of Lady Serion.”
“Huh?”
The ringleader looked back at me, clearly not understanding. There was no need to explain my thoughts kindly to him. I took out a dice from my pocket and tossed it to him. His frown deepened upon catching it.
“Dice? Are you suggesting we play a game?”
“This dice decides your fate. Roll it on the floor. If it lands on an odd number, you’ll burn to death.”
“…And if it’s even?”
“I’ll forgive the rebellion and let you live. Be grateful to Lady Serion.”
“You’re insane…”
The ringleader kept alternating his gaze between the dice and his greatsword. He’s contemplating whether to fight me until the end. After some hesitation, he finally rolled the dice on the ground. It spun and landed on the number 4.
I smirked at the ringleader.
“Lady Serion smiles upon you. Be thankful. And thank my righteousness while you’re at it.”
“Not needed…! I’d rather die fighting than live like livestock!”
The ringleader gripped his greatsword tightly. I sneered at him mockingly.
“Do you really think you can die peacefully while defying me? Drop your sword now while I’m offering mercy. It’s not too late.”
“AAAAAAAAAAARGH! Lord Frucious!!”
Ignoring my advice, he charged at me. A faint blue aura flickered around his greatsword – the初级 level of Aura Expert.
I effortlessly dodged his attack. Not even Instant Thunderflow was needed. His movements were completely predictable.
For five minutes, I simply evaded his attacks without retaliating. He began panting heavily, exhausted. The faint blue aura surrounding his blade disappeared, and his entire body was drenched in sweat. His pitifully desperate state further demoralized the slave soldiers.
‘Well, there’s nowhere lower for their morale to go.’
I decided to finish this nuisance. With a casual swing of my sword, he didn’t even manage to block, let alone evade. His limbs were cleanly severed, leaving only his torso which fell to the ground.
Attempting suicide by biting his tongue, I immediately stopped him by striking the pressure point.
“Scarlet, take special care of this one. He’ll serve as an example – don’t let him die. If he has family…”
“We should probably look into that.”
“If he does have family… Make them suffer the same fate. Collect his severed arms and legs and feed them to him during meal times. He should enjoy eating his own limbs.”
“Understood. As for the rest… We’ll handle them as you suggested earlier, with the dice.”
Nodding approvingly, I stepped back. Scarlet will deal with things properly.
That day, among the 5000 slave soldiers who rebelled, 3000 died and 2000 survived. Despite rolling even numbers, many were killed by the soldiers for entertainment. Since it wasn’t an excessive number, I decided to overlook it.
Narrowing my eyes, I gazed forward, activating my Heavenly Eye FR to see beyond the mountain…
The open plains stretched before us.
An army of at least a hundred thousand blocked our path. I confirmed the banners they carried—the golden shield symbolizing the Deycard family was emblazoned on them. But there was another problem: the banners also bore the insignia of a red dragon and a sword.
“The banner of Cobalt Kingdom… Now I understand. The Cobalt Kingdom must have sent reinforcements to Duke Deycard. …Or are those slave soldiers?”
The Cobalt Kingdom had conquered many nations. Deploying tens of thousands of slave soldiers wasn’t unusual.
“Hmm, this is strange,” Scarlet said after observing the enemy through her telescope.
“What’s strange?”
“It’s odd that the Cobalt Kingdom forces are here. For an army this size to advance from the Cobalt Kingdom to here would take quite some time.”
They might have used teleportation or a warp gate. After all, the Cobalt Kingdom has dragons. It’s entirely possible. But if that were the case, elite soldiers and knights should have come instead of slave troops.
“We can figure out the details after we win. Their goal is likely to fight us on this flat terrain.”
“Abandoning their defenses means they’re confident in this war. They probably have some secret trump card we don’t know about.”
“That’s likely.”
“Our intel is too scarce. It’d be wise to avoid this battle. Luckily, since they’re still far away, we just need to retreat our army.”
Normally, I’d heed Scarlet’s advice.
But then I saw her—Duchess Leonah Deycard, known as the Sun of Solphmed.
She was beautiful and dignified, sitting atop a pure white horse, clad in knightly armor. Her golden hair fluttered in the wind, and her skin was as white as milk. Most captivating were her golden eyes.
Even though Duchess Leonah wore armor, imagining her figure wasn’t difficult. The chest area of her armor clearly protruded, indicating her ample bosom. Her hips were wide, and she was tall.
Around her gathered the knights of Deycard. The Deycard Duchy was one of the great nobles who commanded an all-female knight order across the continent.
At the thought of capturing Duchess Deycard, something stirred below.
“Scarlet, issue the order to advance. We will triumph.”
“I shall follow my lord’s command.”
Scarlet relayed the order to a nearby officer, who hurried off. Soon, the loud sound of a horn echoed throughout the battlefield.
BRAAAAAAAAAAA!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The soldiers marched forward in unison with the beat of the drums, shaking the very earth beneath them.
Before long, we reached the plains beyond the mountain, where the Deycard army came into full view.
“Scarlet, no single combat. Push forward using the slave soldiers.”
“You mean without any real strategy? Tens of thousands will die today.”
“Do you disagree with my orders?”
“Not at all. I actually enjoy a fiery frontal assault. A direct confrontation is the true essence of war.”
Scarlet smirked coldly before issuing the charge command. The slave soldiers surged ahead with all their might toward the enemy.
BOOOOOOOOOM!
The ground exploded, sending waves of charging slaves flying through the air.
“Land mines?”
“Yes, my lord. Perhaps we should have swept the area with magic first before ordering the charge.”
“Nah, doesn’t matter. Keep pushing them forward. We’ve captured more than enough slaves during our journey here.”
“Heheh… About 2,000 men just vaporized at the start of the battle. This is going to make the enemy think I’m an incompetent commander.”
“They might, but you seem oddly pleased.”
“If they underestimate me as an incompetent commander, it’ll only make them careless. Being underestimated is far better than being overestimated. My priority isn’t honor—it’s victory alone.”
“Excellent mindset.”
KABOOOOOOOM! KABOOOOOOOM! KABOOOOOOOM!
Even as we conversed, wave after wave of our slave soldiers continued to explode into oblivion.
