Finally losing patience, he roughly shoved Jiang Shuqin away.
“Ma’am, please stop making reckless statements. We have our own procedures which you clearly don’t understand, so don’t make assumptions.” The police officer said sternly.
“Hmph! Do you really think I’d fall for your empty rhetoric? If Lin Xuan hadn’t paid you off, how could you possibly let him go?”
Jiang Shuqin continued her rant.

Once they left the station, Lin Chang couldn’t help but ask, “Wan’er, Li’er, do either of you know who the woman sponsoring Lin Xuan is, or what kind of status she holds?”

Since Wan’er hadn’t seen her at any banquet, she was likely from a high-class family even the Lin family couldn’t reach, or perhaps her status didn’t allow her to attend such events.
With Lin Xuan’s current standing, it was impossible for him to associate with someone of such lofty status.
Thus, the only possibility was that her status was low, and she merely provided some funds to Lin Xuan, possibly being swayed by him to invest everything into founding Sky Canopy Group.
As for the incident at the police station today, she might have just recently connected with some people there.

After verifying Lin Chang’s identity, the police officer nodded. “Alright, please wait while I check.”
The officer entered Lin Xuan’s name into the system, but the search came up empty. Frowning, he tried again, still finding nothing!
The officer looked puzzled. “Sir, are you sure? There’s absolutely no record of Lin Xuan here.”
“How can that be?” Lin Chang immediately doubted it. “Officer, could you check again? It’s impossible for him not to be here. Maybe you missed something?”
“Sir, I’ve already checked twice, and there’s nothing. You must’ve made a mistake,” the officer patiently replied.
“This can’t be wrong,” Lin Chang frowned. “He was detained just yesterday.”
He had already arranged for it; how could Lin Xuan not be detained?
The officer checked again elsewhere.
Nodding, he said, “Yes, a man named Lin Xuan was indeed summoned to the station yesterday, but he was released without charge.”
“Released without charge?”
Lin Chang’s eyes widened in disbelief. “How is that possible?”
“There’s no evidence against him, so naturally, he was released without charge,” the officer explained.
Lin Chang’s frown deepened.

The officer went to check again elsewhere.
Nodding, he confirmed, “Yesterday, there was indeed a person named Lin Xuan brought to the station, but he was released without charges.”

The officer replied, “Without evidence proving his guilt, he was naturally released without charges.”

Lin Chang picked up his phone and called one of his connections. “Hello, this is Lin Chang speaking.” He spoke flatteringly.
“Lin Chang? How dare you call me after what you’ve done? Do you realize you’ve almost ruined me? Do you even know who Lin Xuan is? You actually asked me to deal with him? From now on, don’t contact me anymore!”
The man on the other end ranted for a bit.
Before Lin Chang could respond, his phone buzzed with the sound of the call being hung up.
Lin Chang’s furrowed brows were tight enough to crush a fly.
What kind of identity did Lin Xuan have?
He couldn’t possibly be anything more than the founder of Sky Canopy Group, right?
