Chapter 3 – Palace Fighting Live Broadcast System
Jiang Pengji kept her eyes closed.
She had regained consciousness a while ago, but her limbs remained uncontrollable, meaning she couldn’t protect herself with force.
After a quick scan of her surroundings, she decisively chose to continue “being unconscious,” secretly conserving her strength.
The system’s voice was an electronic synthesized tone, speaking in a stuttering manner, “I am your Palace Fighting Live Broadcast Servicer 007.”
Jiang Pengji raised an eyebrow internally, “Did you also mess with that fragment of memory in my head that doesn’t belong to me?”
Waking up to find an alien memory lodged in her brain was outrageous!
Memories were the pinnacle of privacy; an outsider barging in was no different than teasing a well-kept maiden!
The system paused briefly and dutifully explained, “Host, do not panic. That is the memory of the original owner of this body. For you, it’s like an auxiliary plugin installed when you play a game. This will help you quickly understand and integrate into this era.”
Even if she was unhappy, Jiang Pengji knew she couldn’t just lash out at the unknown enemy that was this system.
“…I remember I died…” She chose to change the subject; some things had to be clarified.
Transforming from the commander of the Seventh Legion to a powerless young girl and mistakenly landing in a suspected ancient world… even with her resilient heart, her brain was having a hard time processing it all.
Was it that hard to let her just die?
Even dead people weren’t left alone, how crazy was this system?
Disrespecting the deceased by reaping their soul and continuing to exploit it—was this system short on people and sanity?
Her impression of the ancient era could be summed up by two words: brutish and savage!
The system seemed to pick up on Jiang Pengji’s thoughts and quickly explained, “It’s all just a coincidence; it’s not what you’re thinking.”
It didn’t have such power to reel in anyone’s soul. If it weren’t for Jiang Pengji’s strong spirit accidentally appearing in a space rift, it wouldn’t have chosen her. It was simply a beautiful coincidence.
Hearing this, Jiang Pengji felt her brows furrow involuntarily; that feeling of having her private secrets pried into was not pleasant at all.
“You say you are a system?”
“Yes, my full name is the Dimension Palace Fighting Live Broadcast System. You’re the only host I need to serve.” The system answered in a business-like tone. “As the host, your task is to go live, showing how you transform from a noble girl into the Empress of the Phoenix Ascending to the Throne!”
Go live… as an Empress?
If she weren’t keeping her eyes closed, Jiang Pengji would have been able to widen them in surprise—what the heck was this?
She had zero interest in that, “Is that it?”
Palace struggles? Becoming an Empress? What’s the point of this lousy system for her?
The system, seemingly seeing through everything, noticed Jiang Pengji’s disdain for it and proudly declared, “This is not an ordinary live broadcast system that deceives people; this is (dimension)! Please take these two bolded words seriously! They’re very important!”
“The audience watching your live stream will not just be from a single dimension, and as your host level increases, you can unlock qualifications for live broadcasts in other dimensions. For example, if you unlock the qualification for the cultivation dimension, the viewers there might reward you with spiritual pills, cultivation techniques, precious herbs, or even celestial spirit beasts…”
Jiang Pengji thought for a moment and, after weighing the options, promptly refused, “Still not interested…”
No way! If by accident the dimension she was live-streaming from was her old haunt, those brutes from the Seventh Legion would laugh at her for a lifetime!
The system fell silent; it had never encountered a host quite like this—someone who was totally unyielding, or perhaps… just simple-minded.
Was the information it provided not enticing enough?
Or did this host have some kind of intelligence problem, a deficit in language comprehension?
It had said this was a dimension live broadcast system!
This was practically an alternative dimension trading system! Through audience rewards, one could acquire goods from other dimensions.
Fantastic profits; if it could connect to the cultivation dimension and receive rewards like elixirs or cultivation techniques, the host could even cultivate and perhaps achieve immortality! This was a benefit that others would beg for but might never attain.
In the past, every host had their eyes lighting up when they heard all this!
No need for it to urge for a live broadcast; they all actively applied and worked diligently—it was a total breeze.
After sailing smoothly for so long, the system had encountered its first uncooperative rebel.
The system felt wronged and heartbroken, unable to express its plight. Why couldn’t it have a more manageable host?
However, the system had already bonded with Jiang Pengji, and short of a miraculous parting, they were stuck together for the time being.
So, even if it was reluctant, it had to rely on her now.
Even if it meant coaxing her with sweet words, it had to get her to go live!
After thinking it over, the system analyzed various angles and finally selected a strong temptation. “If the host agrees to go live, I can help you out of your current predicament. Not only that, if your host level reaches the top, you even get a wish opportunity.”
Jiang Pengji snorted coldly, “You have a knack for hitting my sore spot. I’m not particularly interested in the latter, but the former sounds a little intriguing.”
Those bandits had many debts in blood; if those beautiful young girls fell into a bandit’s lair, the end result was predictable.
The system was momentarily choked by her response. By normal logic, wouldn’t she be more concerned with the latter?
That was a clear benefit linked to her own interests.
If Jiang Pengji could reach the top of the host level, she could easily wish to return to the past and change history!
But that wasn’t the main point; as long as she could be convinced to go live, the other details could be negotiated later.
“So does this mean the host agrees to go live?”
Jiang Pengji told herself internally, “If I agree to you, it comes with conditions; I need to recover quickly.”
“I need the host’s cooperation. As long as you go live—even with just one viewer—I’ll have enough energy to help you recover swiftly.”
Since it was a Palace Fighting Live Broadcast System, its power source was naturally linked to live broadcasts.
In fact, to get Jiang Pengji into this fresh body, the system had used up all its energy.
Without live streams, there were no viewers. As a live stream system, what good was it without an audience? Just like a dried fish!
But that wasn’t a problem. You couldn’t reap a wolf without investing in some kid. A bit of investment now could result in greater live stream popularity later.
Jiang Pengji didn’t trust this bizarre system that had popped up out of nowhere. She kept a certain distance from it, but right now, it was the only strange thing that could actually assist her.
Taking a deep breath, she silently prayed the live streaming dimension wouldn’t lead back to her old home—that would be a huge embarrassment.
“I agree to start the live broadcast!”
