Chapter 36 – Different Live Streaming Modes
Jiang Pengji frowned and asked, “What do you mean by speed-learning?”
The System replied, “It’s like a skill book that lets you quickly master a certain skill. The shop just opened in the system!”
At that moment, Jiang Pengji noticed a few flickering icons on the giant live streaming screen in front of her. However, she had always been cautious about this mysterious system and lacked the curiosity to delve deeper.
Opening the store the system mentioned, a brand new interface popped up filled with various product icons.
Qin, chess, calligraphy, painting, embroidery, sewing, tea arts, swordsmanship, knife techniques, leg skills, horse riding…
Each skill had four distinct labels following it: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Mastery.
The number of popularity points required to exchange for these different skill levels varied, with the highest level, Mastery, needing an enormous amount of popularity points!
Fortunately, the basic beginner level uniformly required 1000 popularity points, which Jiang Pengji could easily exchange for with her current popularity score.
Jiang Pengji frowned silently, wondering if exchanging for these skills would really grant her only beginner-level abilities?
The System chimed in, “I noticed you were really struggling with calligraphy earlier, so I specially unlocked the shop interface for you using my private funds.”
If the system could show itself, she imagined it would have a cheeky face saying, “Come on, compliment me!”
Jiang Pengji couldn’t help but chuckle quietly, “I see you’re just eyeing my popularity points, greedy, aren’t you?”
The System remained noncommittal; for it, popularity points were like cash—perfect for doing business. Why not profit?
Gazing at the tempting array of goods in the shop, Jiang Pengji quickly closed the interface.
“I think calligraphy is interesting enough to practice slowly on my own. You can keep drooling over my popularity points.”
The System exclaimed, “Damn!”
Jiang Pengji replied naturally, “Good steel is used on the cutting edge. Exchanging for something useless now is not better than saving it for later; you never know when it might come in handy.”
The System scoffed, “No need to save like that! Just stream live every day, and as long as you hit the 3,000 view cap, you’ll earn at least 1,500 popularity points daily! You could easily exchange for something; no need to work so hard learning.”
If a wealthy patron decided to shower her with gifts, she’d accumulate popularity points even faster.
With an expression that read “I’ve seen through your tricks,” Jiang Pengji said, “In the end, you’re just trying to entice me to stream more, right? But the viewing cap is still 3,000… Don’t tell me, increasing the cap requires exchanging popularity points too…”
“You’re truly wise,” the System nearly wagged its tail in admiration, “To upgrade from Level 1 to Level 2, it requires 100,000 popularity points.”
With a higher streamer level, the number of viewers in the live room would increase, naturally speeding up popularity point accumulation.
Jiang Pengji rubbed her temples, realizing how deep the system’s game was.
“Is there no way to level up without using popularity points?”
The System pondered and replied, “Well, there’s another method, but it’s all about luck.”
As a comprehensive live streaming system, it naturally had various modes; it couldn’t just be boring and monotone streaming.
Jiang Pengji coaxed, “What’s that method?”
“The system has four streaming modes. One is Free Streaming, like what you’re currently doing—broadcast whatever you want.”
“Another is Semi-Interactive Streaming, where you can choose topics for viewers to vote on, and then you stream the most popular one. After you finish, depending on viewer satisfaction, you can earn treasure chests ranging from bronze to gold, which can randomly give rewards, including cards that level you up for free.”
Jiang Pengji nodded quietly, signaling for the System to continue.
“Then there’s Full Interactive Streaming, where viewers pick the content, and you sift through the options for voting… Of course, the content has to stick within the contract’s limits; it can’t be too outrageous, mostly for entertainment… This mode also yields treasure chests that might contain upgrade cards.”
“The last one is Designated Streaming, where a big spender defines the streaming content. If you complete it, you not only earn the payment they provide but also receive a gold chest.” The System practically salivated at the thought of the final mode.
Jiang Pengji raised an eyebrow, “Let’s just erase that last one from consideration.”
The System argued, “Who said that? My previous host loved that streaming mode!”
Jiang Pengji smirked sarcastically, “Clearly, I’m not one of them.”
The System tried to press on, “How can you know you won’t like it if you don’t try?”
“A true rich person probably wouldn’t mind such a small expense… Just tossing a little money to post a task, like baiting fish with hooks… Slowly molding the streamer into what they desire…”
“Tell me, how is that last streaming mode different from training a dog?”
The System was flustered, sensing its host was about to blow up, and quickly tried to remedy the situation.
“Don’t be angry, my precious host! These modes were set at the factory; I’m just relaying the options! Plus, these streaming modes require the host’s consent, so there’s no such thing as forced transactions!”
The System felt like it was at its wits’ end; how had it ended up with such a difficult host? Always judging it with icy stares… Systems need rights too, they deserve fair treatment!
It had barely been two days, and the System felt like it had endured two years.
This life was unbearable!
As the System grappled with its thoughts, Jiang Pengji was too lazy to entertain it, finding comfort in a sleep devoid of dreams.
The next day, en route to the clan school by carriage, she promptly began her stream. Slowly, viewers trickled in—subscribed viewers received notifications as soon as she went live and could join by clicking the room number.
【Host V】: Good morning, everyone (^__^)
Jiang Pengji greeted them, and many viewers responded with their greetings, looking like quite a few were from different time zones. Bored, she decided to seek the audience’s opinions.
【Host V】: What kind of content do you all enjoy watching?
【Stowaway Non-Money】: The host could learn some arts! I can sneak in a few tips… and then go show off!
【The Great Landlord’s Wife】: How about reading some historical stories? I wonder what ancient tales were like. Would there be a domineering scholar in love, or maybe a ruthless prince? Even if a notorious county magistrate fell for me, I wouldn’t mind, 23333!
【Manure Sea Mad Maggot】: Visit a brothel, drink flower wine, and hug the courtesan… then have some fun with the ladies…
Jiang Pengji: “…”
Oh, those young men from that world, do you even realize how dangerous your thoughts are?
But… she did find the last suggestion quite appealing.
