Chapter 269: Are You Cleaning Up, or Am I Cleaning You Up?
Before Niu Qi could knock, Lin Nuo had already opened the door.
Typically, one would greet with a “Good morning” or something similar, but Lin Nuo went straight to calling them servants.
At least he didn’t start with a rude “You all get lost!”
Hearing the word ‘servants’ made Niu Qi furious. How could a grand general be called a servant by you?
Fine, let’s see how long you can keep that smirk on.
Suppressing his anger, Niu Qi said sternly:
“Lin Nuo, the prized Mist Spirit Bracelet of the Lin family was lost last night, and we need to search for it. Please cooperate with our investigation.”
“Cooperate? Sure, but my room has just been tidied up. If you mess it up, you’ll have to clean it again,” Lin Nuo replied.
“Quit the nonsense and step aside.”
“Not happening. Just because you’re soldiers doesn’t mean you can barge in,” Lin Nuo blocked them.
“Enough already, move aside.”
Niu Qi was growing impatient, focused solely on finding the Mist Spirit Bracelet and pinning the blame on Lin Nuo so he could wrap it up.
“Alright, I’ll take that as you agreed.”
Lin Nuo stepped aside, allowing them to come in and search. As expected, Niu Qi headed straight for the cabinet.
That was the special storage place for the Mist Spirit Bracelet.
While Niu Qi rummaged through the cabinet, the other soldiers were not idle either, turning Lin Nuo’s belongings into complete chaos.
However, after searching thoroughly, Niu Qi found no sign of the Mist Spirit Bracelet in the cabinet.
How strange.
He felt confused. It should be here!
“You search.”
Niu Qi gestured for his subordinate to take over, the same guy who had come to hide the Mist Spirit Bracelet last night.
This fellow tried searching through it but still didn’t find the Mist Spirit Bracelet.
This is absurd! How could it not be here? Where did it go?
He had turned everything over and still found nothing.
“Search everywhere.”
Next, they started sifting through other areas. Given Lin Nuo’s simple room, there weren’t many items. The valuable stuff had been put into spiritual bags by Ruo’er.
Nothing—to be absolutely certain, they found nothing at all.
“Search their bodies. Cooperate, Lin Nuo. You guys, go search that maid’s belongings.”
“That’s not acceptable.”
Lin Nuo grabbed the person trying to search Ruo’er, and when he tried to shake her off, Lin Nuo exerted his strength, suppressing him effortlessly.
“You—are you guilty and not cooperating?” he questioned.
“It’s fine to search her, but you don’t have the right to do so. A maid can be searched.”
“You must be feeling guilty for some reason.”
“Really?”
Lin Nuo continued applying pressure, and it was enough that the man couldn’t take it anymore.
“Ow, ow, ow… Fine, fine…”
With no choice left, he had to concede; if this continued, Lin Nuo might just break his arm.
Ruo’er had no idea what was happening—so many people barged in early in the morning, making her uneasy.
Lin Nuo said to her:
“It’s nothing. Just a search for something lost by the family. Just cooperate; we have nothing to hide.”
“Oh, oh~”
Hearing this from Lin Nuo, Ruo’er felt reassured. Searching was fine, as long as her young master was there, she wouldn’t be scared.
Soon, a maid was called over to search Ruo’er, and she cooperated since she wasn’t a thief; she’d let them search.
The maid found nothing precious on Ruo’er, just a spiritual bag.
However, they didn’t understand what it was for. They thought it was just an ornament and didn’t pay it any mind.
As for Lin Nuo, he had nothing to show either—no hidden weapons, Dao Fu, or spiritual tools were found, all stuffed away in the spiritual bag.
Of course, Ruo’er had no clue she was hiding so many dubious items for Lin Nuo.
After all, in the eyes of these people, those were all questionable items; her identity as the villain couldn’t be exposed just yet.
“Damn it, nothing at all.”
Niu Qi spat angrily, where could it have possibly gone, did Lin Nuo bury it underground?
Niu Qi gave a nod to the person who had hidden the Mist Spirit Bracelet, and the two of them planned to step outside for a discussion.
Just as they were about to leave, Lin Nuo blocked them:
“Where do you think you’re going? Didn’t we agree you’d clean up after the search?”
“Stop the nonsense, we’re just stepping out for a bit,” Niu Qi retorted.
“Who knows?”
“Is Niu Qi going to let you clean up for me?”
“In this day and age, I don’t even trust myself—why would I trust you? Are you cleaning up, or am I cleaning you up?”
“You rascal! I’m a general, and you tell me to clean up? I won’t do it on principle!”
Niu Qi was furious. He was a general, backed by the esteemed Lin Fei, so how dare Lin Nuo act like this?
“Fine.”
Lin Nuo didn’t want to waste more breath, he made his move, and just as Niu Qi was ready to counter, he wasn’t fast enough; Lin Nuo deftly tripped him and pinned him to the ground.
“You…!”
“Don’t ‘you’ me.”
Lin Nuo pressed Niu Qi’s face down onto the floor, rendering him speechless.
If you want to battle in the battlefield, you’re still too green, let alone fighting one-on-one.
“General Niu!”
His subordinates rushed in to help, but Lin Nuo pulled out a small knife, aiming it at Niu Qi.
“You come any closer, I can’t guarantee whether he loses an ear or an eye.”
“Uh…”
They were shocked. Was Lin Nuo insane? He was threatening General Niu over such a small matter!
“You… you dare!”
Niu Qi tried to shout, but he was still pressed down by Lin Nuo.
“Dare? Are you kidding?”
Lin Nuo sneered as he moved the knife closer to Niu Qi’s neck; if cutting off his ear wouldn’t do, he might as well slit his throat.
“Easy now, Hero, hold back!” his subordinates yelled in a panic.
“Being so arrogant? Cursing, are we? Fine.”
Just as Lin Nuo was about to slice Niu Qi’s neck, his subordinates were soaked in cold sweat and hurriedly shouted:
“Stop, stop! We’ll clean up! We’ll clean up!”
They surrendered and compromised, hastily starting to tidy up for Lin Nuo.
Lin Nuo turned to Ruo’er:
“Ruo’er, inspect them. Everything must go back to its rightful place. If anything is out of order, let me know how much they misplace, and I’ll ensure they lose a few pounds of flesh.”
“Oh, oh.”
If it were anyone else, Ruo’er would find it terrifying, but as it was Lin Nuo, she didn’t feel that way at all; instead, it felt like her young master was punishing them.
That’s right, her young master had always been bullied by them, now it was his time to shine; they deserved it.
Ruo’er turned into the supervisor, watching them put everything in order.
However, she remained kind, patiently guiding them on how to arrange things; even if they misplaced something, she reminded them. They cooperated and didn’t dare report it to their young master.
Once everything was tidied up, Lin Nuo also had them clean the room to spare Ruo’er from having to clean in the early morning.
With all this commotion in the early morning, Lin Nuo’s room became lively, as Lin Fei and the others arrived, and so did Su Kexin and the others.
