My Disciples Think I’m Strong – Chapter 175

“Every time you come here, it feels like we end up fighting.”

“I feel sorry about that too.”

Previously, we had justifiable reasons for our quarrels, but this time it was simply an emotional clash. In the end, it held no real meaning. It did save me the trouble since Tina fought in my stead.

“I should be making memories with Lord Praus…”

“A short break should be fine. It’ll be over in five minutes anyway.”

And with Tina’s overwhelming victory.

“Is that so? Recently, I heard that Benos oppa made a contract with an Ice Spirit…”

“Ice Spirit?”

Benos Todiah was such a minor character that it was hard to even call him a supporting role. So, there was hardly any information about him.

From what I knew, he had the skill to easily rise as the leader of the Royal Knight Order, and though he reached the rank of Sword Master, he was an unfortunate character who was fated to die during the Demon War.

I remembered that if he had formed a Spirit Contract, he could have made quite an impact during the Demon War, as had been discussed in the community.

Yet in the game, no matter what choices were made, there was never a scenario where he contracted with a spirit.

But here, it happened.

Another variable had been added.

With the ever-increasing variables, I felt the game beginning to shift fluidly.

Fluidity meant it was slipping from my control, implying that predicting future events was now impossible.

That’s why I generally avoided interfering unless it was necessary to save the heroes…

But complaining about it now was too late.

“Are you ready?”

Benos asked, watching Tina lightly bouncing in place.

“Anytime.”

“You’ll get hurt sparring without armor.”

“I’ve done it before. Sure, I got hurt as you might expect, but I won’t get hurt today. I’ve gotten way stronger since then.”

Tina pulled out her All-Cutting Sword. Benos unsheathed his sword from his back, a long and thick blade commonly known as a Claymore.

“Can you really deflect my blade with that thin sword?”

“I’ll need to channel my aura well, or else it’ll be cut right through.”

With a laugh, Tina infused her sword with her aura. It was significantly larger than a few years ago, a clear and bright blue.

“…A Sword Master, huh? I should apologize for underestimating you, being so young and all.”

“As you both know, please refrain from excessive attacks. If either side exposes a vital point, the spar will end instantly. Understood?”

The head of the Todiah Family’s knights standing between the two said.

“Yes~”

“I will.”

While they both responded, I placed my hand on Iris and Maria’s shoulders beside me.

“I’ll leave mediation to Iris and Maria. If anything seems off, stop them immediately.”

“Yes!”

“I’ll go all out from the start.”

Benos said, gripping the Claymore with both hands.

The blade of the Claymore became sharper as ice enveloped it, with a blue aura forming along the blade. It seemed he had already risen to the rank of Sword Master in this era. Was it fair to say he was the firstborn of the Todiah Family?

“Come forth, Glacer!”

…Glacer?

With the mention of that familiar name, Glacer, wearing an ice witch hat, appeared behind him. She had blue skin and blue hair and hurriedly covered her face with her hat.

“Ugh… Don’t call for me so suddenly…”

“You’re up against a strong opponent. I need your power.”

If he had formed a contract with a spirit as powerful as Glacer, it was certainly something to mention. However, there was a concerning issue.

As far as I knew, Glacer already had a contractor. An S-Class at that.

Since spirits can’t have double contracts, it meant she had broken her previous contract. Could it be…

“W-Who’s the opponent? Wait, your face looks familiar? Aah! Praus!”

“…It’s been a while.”

She was startled to find me down in the sparring arena. She pointed at me with her mouth covered, confused. Once our eyes met, she quickly hid her face with her hat again.

“Phew… Ah! E-Eriel is also here. It’s been a while…!”

Glacer hurriedly bowed repeatedly. Eriel gave her a gentle smile and gestured for her to stop.

“Yes, it has been a while.”

“But what’s going on right now?”

“As you can see, it’s a spar between Tina and Benos.”

“Ehh! Y-You’re saying with a Hero?!”

“A Hero?”

“Ah… Never mind.”

When Benos looked at Glacer, she hurriedly covered her face and waved her hands in a panic. She had cleverly hidden the fact that I was the Hero.

In reality, only I was publicly known as the Hero.

Spirit Kings must not find it advantageous to have heroes known publicly. They worried that if the young Heroes were swayed by the Empire, they wouldn’t be able to grow properly.

“B-But… Benos, could you stop this fight…?”

Glacer said, grabbing onto Benos’ armor. Benos, startled, raised his voice without meaning to.

“What? Why?!”

“The compatibility is just too bad…”

“Compatibility?”

“That kid over there has a contract with the Fire Spirit King, Phoenix.”

“What?!”

The moment the Spirit King was mentioned, his expression changed. Glacer trembled, clutching her own body.

“My ice will be easily melted. Perhaps even my own body…!”

“So, the Hero is being relied on even by someone as young as her…”

Because she’s a Hero after all.

For a moment, it seemed Benos was hesitating to stop, but he gripped his sword tightly. That was a declaration of his intent to fight.

“Still, a knight can’t back down without even trying.”

“Ugh… But!”

Despite Glacer’s protests, he charged at Tina with the massive Claymore. The weight of the sword alone was considerable, yet he moved with a speed difficult to follow with my eyes.

“‘Ice Blast’!”

“‘All-Cutting Sword’.”

The very instant Tina swung her sword, ice was sliced away alongside it. Before the blade of the Claymore even touched Tina, it split in half and flew through the air.

“It’s over.”

“Iris.”

As soon as I noticed Tina was about to swing her sword at Benos, I called for Iris.

Clang!

Iris quickly stepped in, blocking Tina’s sword.

“That’s enough. The instructor says so.”

“…Is that so?”

Tina glanced at me and nodded. Benos stood speechless at the sight of his Claymore cut like paper. Tina, coolly putting away her All-Cutting Sword, jumped out of the sparring arena.

“Seriously! I just wanted to hit you one more time!”

Was she saying that one hit could potentially kill him?!

“You don’t have to fight like last time.”

The issue of Slave Liberation was already resolved.

There was no need to create conflict with the Todiah Family. In fact, I needed Todiah on my side now. Making unnecessary troubles wouldn’t yield any benefits.

“Glacer, I have something to discuss. Could you come over here for a moment?”

“W-What is it?”

Leaving a shocked Benos behind, Glacer came over to me, gripping her ice hat tightly.

“How did you form a contract? I thought you already had a contract with Soro?”

“Ah, that girl…!”

I had already known about Glacer’s ultimate skill, All-Freezing Technique. The fact that Soro’s contractor was Glacer was something I was aware of.

Glacer had contracted with Soro due to his great talent in ice, but soon regretted it.

She had lent her power to kill monsters, yet Soro had used it for killing people and oppression instead.

But once a contract was made, it was heavy, and it couldn’t be easily broken. As a result, she imposed restrictions on herself, refusing to manifest in the Human World.

“Ah, um… A few days ago, Naiad told me to end the contract with any contractors who seemed likely to oppose the heroes… I thought I might have potential, so I made the contract, and then he ended up using it for nonsense…”

Glacer sulked, her embarrassment evident. The emotions she was revealing were quite refreshing, considering she was usually flustered.

“Unless the contractor is dead, it’s not easy to break it freely, you know?”

“It seems like that penalty was adjusted by the World Tree adjusting the causal links.”

“I see.”

That meant Benos would end up doing what Soro did before being scouted by the White Light Corps.

“But why Benos Todiah specifically?”

“Ah… He matched well with the Ice attribute… And when he looked at my face, he showed an ‘I don’t care’ expression…?!”

…Is that really the reason?

It sounded like a rather trivial selection reason. As Glacer looked at my expression, she hurriedly added more reasoning.

“Kind and dependable… U-Um… He seems straight-laced. Plus, most strong individuals already have contracts with spirits… C-Could that reason be sufficient?”

“Why are you asking me that?”

“W-Well then, it will just be that way…”

If it was indeed true that Glacer had contracted with him, then perhaps Benos could rise to S-Class. While I couldn’t be sure how far his limits would reach, simply having more resources for the Demon War was reassuring.

“H-Hey! Let’s fight again!”

Benos shouted, pointing at Tina.

“…No thanks. The instructor said to stop. I’m not doing it. And I don’t want to fight a loser who gets beaten in one exchange.”

“Who are you calling a loser?!”

As the two were about to get into another fight, Glacer intervened, and the spar ended almost anticlimactically.

*

“We barely managed to separate them. I guess it can’t be helped, considering their affection for their instructor.”

“…They’ll probably keep following me anyway.”

I thought about the Heroes and Eriel I had separated in the market.

“It’s okay. I thought the same.”

“Is that so?”

“Therefore, from now until entering the Duke’s residence, please focus on me, Lord Praus. Don’t think about anyone else, got it?”

She naturally linked her arm with mine, and the sensation of her considerable volume wrapping around my arm was enough to evoke strange feelings. I tried to gently pull my arm away, but Ella held me tightly, refusing to let go.

“Today’s purpose is to make memories, Lord Praus. Walking side by side like this and linking arms is also a memory!”

“…Is that so?”

Having given up on pulling my arm away, I resigned myself to the situation where I couldn’t win against her strength.

“Oh, by the way, Lord Praus, what were you writing for your father before leaving? You were writing a lot on Parchment.”

“It was a method to penetrate the 7th Sphere.”

The role of the Todiah Family was substantial during the Demon War. While the Heroes dealt with the Demon King and his most trusted Demon Tribe, they would be safeguarding the Empire.

Given that the Demon War was likely to occur sooner than expected, it wouldn’t do for them to remain weak.

“Is that so! You’ve already scored points with your father… I mean, with your father-in-law!”

She said, speaking loudly in surprise while smiling brightly.

“No, that’s not—”

“Just say yes. That’s not an issue, is it?”

It wasn’t a significant issue, but I didn’t want any misunderstandings to accumulate.

However, she seemed uninterested in listening and hurriedly led my arm, quickening her pace.

“Come on, let’s go!”

I swallowed my sigh and obediently surrendered to Ella’s lead.
