Chapter 306: What a Lucky Life with You All (8k)
The attack by Deoxys was sudden, leaving Dak completely unprepared.
No, it wasn’t just Dak.
None of the golems in the dormitory reacted!
Originally, everyone had been pretending to sleep, so why did Deoxys suddenly jump out?
“Mew!”
Eevee, who was also hiding under the large bed covers, was the first to react.
Its left ear and the ribbon antenna on its neck instantly stiffened, lifting the entire blanket.
Similarly, Lil’Eevee, who was curled up inside, couldn’t help but stand up.
The golems on the small beds forgot to hide as well, pushing the blankets higher one by one.
But after Deoxys hugged Dak’s face, he merely leaned back and steadied himself.
Deoxys didn’t have as much strength as expected; its body was soft and light.
Dak reached out and supported Deoxys under its armpits, pulling it away from his face. He quickly noticed something unusual about its state.
Deoxys embodied “Pride,” and theoretically, it shouldn’t be doing such abrupt things—unless it was Eevee, which wouldn’t be surprising.
But Deoxys indeed did this.
This meant it must be in some kind of chaotic state of consciousness.
Dak observed closely and soon noticed its eyes were wandering, cheeks flushed, nose slightly wet, and there was a trace of chocolate residue near its mouth.
Held under Dak’s arm, Deoxys meowed softly, its limbs limp, showing a hint of naivety!
Dak sat Deoxys on his lap and wiped off the chocolate residue near its mouth, sniffing it before licking his tongue.
Instantly, a hint of alcohol was detected.
Dak realized with a start.
That piece of liquor-filled chocolate, which he had bitten into, had actually been stolen by Deoxys!
Could golems get drunk?
Moreover, even though the alcohol in the chocolate was high-proof, there was only a little. Could it really intoxicate a four-star golem like this?
Dak felt puzzled.
Perhaps Deoxys was the type that got drunk easily.
After all, people have different tolerances; some can drink a thousand cups without getting drunk, while others get tipsy from just a sip.
Deoxys might be the latter!
However, a drunk Deoxys was unexpectedly cute!
Accustomed to the always proud Deoxys, this drunk and naive version made Dak feel intrigued.
Curious, he pinched Deoxys’ cheek, finding it not resisting at all, instead rubbing against his fingers!
“Oooh—”
Dak couldn’t help but make a sound.
Too obedient!
A drunk Deoxys had transformed from embodying “Pride” to “Bliss.” Its cat eyes were filled with intoxication.
“If I take it to bed now, does that count as taking advantage?”
Unconsciously,
a thought flashed through Dak’s mind.
Then, he moved the note he had been holding but hadn’t read yet closer to examine it carefully: “Life with you, how beautiful.”
…
“Life with you, how lucky.”
Touched, Dak flipped Deoxys over and held it close, gently rubbing its chin and belly. Deoxys purred like a Grass Cat Plant.
Seeing this scene, the other golems lost any desire to compete.
One by one, they lay down again, watching the harmonious moment with half-closed eyes.
Only Eevee continued to dance with its ribbon.
Suddenly, it remembered Deoxys’ actions when setting the gifts, and had an idea.
“Mew, the key point is that piece of chocolate Dak bit into!”
“Even if it’s a stinky cat, I, Eevee, can do it too!”
So, it lay down again, watching Dak petting Deoxys like a hunting cat.
It should have been the cat being petted!
…
The other golems didn’t feel as strongly, but they still envied it. They watched eagerly, wishing this was a service they could queue for.
As the saying goes, worry about inequality more than scarcity.
If Dak didn’t share, he might not escape unscathed.
Fortunately, today was Wednesday, and classes started in a short while.
The golems, no matter how persistent, couldn’t prevent him from attending class.
Dak and Deoxys spent a little time together, then carefully placed the note into his notebook.
Now, the notebook contained ten notes or cards.
These early writings displayed their literacy levels perfectly.
Hopefully, each would show great improvement later.
Dak closed the notebook and put it away.
This time, he grabbed Diana’s Valentine’s gift while holding Deoxys.
This was his first gift of the day, but he kept it last.
“I wonder what kind of chocolate Diana made? Probably a bear?”
Considering the golems’ creations, Diana likely made a chocolate bear.
Humans usually don’t use themselves as models for chocolate, but often choose symbols.
For Diana, it was naturally a bear.
Dak picked up Diana’s large box, maneuvered around Deoxys, and placed the gift box on his knees to open it.
As the box was opened, a corner of the chocolate appeared, revealing round bear ears!
When fully revealed, Dak’s gaze focused on the chocolate bear’s button eyes, and he felt a strong connection to Diana’s design.
“But such meticulous design surely wasn’t done by Diana alone…”
Dak couldn’t help thinking of Rose.
Initially, he had just pointed Rose towards Diana to keep her busy, but unexpectedly, they clicked so well.
Or perhaps Rose’s personality was so good that she got along with everyone.
Without Rose’s support, Diana’s academy life might not have been as joyful.
Interactions and connections between people are precious.
Just like his bond with the golems.
They are hard-earned and should be cherished.
…
Diana’s chocolate bear was so exquisite that it was hard to eat.
Even if Dak wanted to taste it, he couldn’t bring himself to.
But after hesitating for a while, Deoxys suddenly leaned forward and bit off a bear ear!
…
“Good!”
The golems watching secretly gave it a thumbs-up.
Everyone was struggling, and suddenly, a godly bear appeared, tempting them to bite.
There was a slight commotion in the dorm.
Dak watched Deoxys chew on the bear ear with a “drunken” look, unsure how to scold it.
He paused, then instinctively took another ear and tasted it.
It truly had Diana’s style.
The chocolate bear’s flavor profile was opposite to Deoxys’, with a sweet taste and a hint of bitterness.
Too much sweetness can be cloying.
Chocolate remains appealing partly because of that subtle bitterness.
…
That was it.
All the morning gifts were opened.
But few were actually tasted.
Clearly, the golems wanted Dak to eat the chocolates in front of them.
So, the idea of keeping them as collectibles was dismissed.
With so many chocolates on the table, it would take time to finish them.
Dak rearranged the boxes and decided to start with Ditto’s heart-shaped chocolates.
The imp beast clearly didn’t have time for breakfast.
After eating half of the heart-shaped chocolates, Dak carried the sleepy Deoxys to the small bed, covered it with a blanket, and instructed the golems to take care of it.
He quickly prepared his textbooks, slung his bag over his shoulder, and headed to the canteen for breakfast.
Chocolates couldn’t replace meals.
Before leaving, he hugged each golem, thanking them for the chocolates.
But in truth, their presence was the greatest gift this world could offer.
…
Since the imp beast started helping in the mornings, Dak rarely came to the canteen.
Today, coming back brought a fresh feeling.
Because the first class started at eight o’clock.
Students usually arrived at the canteen between seven and seven-thirty.
Those who came earlier were more relaxed.
Leisurely, those who came late were flustered.
The castle was indeed too large; much time was spent just traveling around.
Valentine’s Day wasn’t considered a particularly formal holiday.
There were no decorations in the cafeteria because of it.
But the atmosphere among the students was unmistakably evident; the youthful energy was almost palpable.
Couples were doting on each other.
Bachelors were looking around.
Dark ordered a small rack of ribs, an egg, some bacon, and a bowl of corn soup, intending to change things up for breakfast.
He carried his tray to an empty seat, observing life from a detached perspective.
Suddenly, his gaze shifted as someone blocked his path.
Though that person had lowered their head forcefully, Dark could still recognize them at a glance.
As expected of a first-year student from the Knight Academy.
To give out Valentine chocolates under such scrutiny in the cafeteria—
How much courage does that take?
Dark switched to holding his plate with one hand and reached out to accept the chocolate, which seemed to be store-bought.
The girl wrapped in a scarf fled swiftly!
“Uh…”
Dark paused briefly but maintained his composure and continued forward.
Even if his heart leaned towards traditional conservative values, he had to display a more modern demeanor here.
Perhaps this was the nobility’s hypocrisy.
Dark sighed inwardly.
Then he set down his tray and began eating breakfast meticulously.
Yet, many people’s gazes still lingered on him.
That’s why he disliked eating breakfast alone in the cafeteria.
It drew too much attention.
Some people are naturally attention-grabbing.
While some of their light fades over time,
others only shine brighter.
…
Dark didn’t open the chocolate gift box in the cafeteria but instead placed it temporarily in his bag.
Shortly after,
a boy suddenly appeared with a bouquet of roses, kneeling on one knee to block a senior female student’s path, then extending the roses and chocolate.
Dark watched with interest,
imagining others might view him similarly.
Indeed, those who enjoy watching gossip shouldn’t become part of it.
“Smack!”
A crisp sound echoed through the cafeteria.
Everyone’s eyes instantly focused.
The senior female student didn’t hesitate to slap away the boy’s chocolate box with a single palm!
“I’ve told you countless times, stop bothering me!”
The girl shouted irritably and walked off with her tray.
Only the boy silently picked up the chocolate and left the cafeteria.
…
This must be the standard Valentine’s Day scenario.
They say some boys have been looking forward to this moment for fun.
But among peers, why be so harsh?
The cafeteria was filled with malicious laughter.
…
This is the reality between boys and girls.
When giving gifts on Valentine’s Day,
when girls give gifts to boys, they usually don’t reject them on the spot.
When boys give gifts to girls, they’re often promptly refused.
When boys receive too much chocolate, it can be a source of pride.
When girls receive too much chocolate, they often feel burdened.
After all, it’s still a patriarchal society.
With a noble-style monogamy system.
Even though women’s status is rising, it takes time.
…
Halfway through his meal, Diana and Rose found Dark amid the crowd and sat across from him, excitedly recounting their morning encounters.
Things like seniors confessing to juniors and getting rejected.
Or juniors confessing to seniors and having the senior agree, only for the junior to back out later.
All sorts of stories, varied and endless.
Dark cut his steak into thin pieces, skewering it with a fork. As the juices flowed, a rich aroma filled the air.
He didn’t join in Diana and Rose’s conversation because he felt there was hidden meaning in their words.
Repeated mentions of chocolate were likely hints about his opinion on the chocolate bear.
But understanding this, Dark deliberately remained silent.
…
Snow still drifted outside the castle, but its intensity was waning.
By noon, it might stop entirely.
Wednesday afternoons usually had no classes, making it perfect for enjoying the snow.
When Dark, Diana, and Rose arrived at the Potions classroom, many first-year students were discussing Professor Metia’s accurate predictions.
Seers and ordinary people seemed separated by a thin veil, one that was hard to lift despite its apparent transparency.
This exact mix of mystery was what attracted people.
Just one “prediction” about the weather elevated Professor Metia’s status among students.
Thus, they looked forward even more to tonight’s astronomy class!
Last week, Professor Metia had announced today’s lesson—love divination, the most anticipated topic for students of this age.
Perfectly aligned with Valentine’s timing.
Many were ready to muster the courage to give out chocolates during the day, but the response wouldn’t come until the same day next month, leaving them impatient.
Of course, if both parties were compatible, they generally wouldn’t need to wait until White Valentine’s Day for a response.
Waiting until White Valentine’s Day usually meant forgetting or rejecting.
Though cruel, it wasn’t absolute, so hope remained.
Perhaps the giver would realize in a month that they didn’t actually like the receiver.
In this world, Valentine’s Day emphasizes thoughtful consideration rather than impulsive actions.
…
Dark, as usual, sat in the last row by the window.
Snowflakes had covered the glass, creating a white expanse.
A chill seeped in, icy and cold.
But when he took his bag off and was about to place it on the table, he noticed something inside.
Chocolate.
Two that looked store-bought, and one that seemed homemade.
“Since I left home, four more…”
Dark took a deep breath and temporarily placed the three boxes of chocolate in his bag.
He didn’t plan to open them in class.
“Duck Duck!” Diana turned her head excitedly.
Dark looked up, puzzled, “Hmm?”
Diana pulled out a box of chocolate from below and showed it off in front of him.
As if to say, “Look, I’m also popular!”
Both men and women need to show value to attract the opposite sex.
Rose also pulled out two boxes of chocolate from her drawer, looking embarrassed, “What should we do?”
She was still thinking about how to give her chocolate rabbit, never expecting she’d receive chocolates herself.
Unlike Diana’s carefree attitude, she felt troubled.
“Leave the chocolate on the table when we leave.”
Dark glanced at her and casually suggested.
Rose’s face was too thin; once she became more experienced, she probably wouldn’t feel this way anymore.
After all, receiving gifts on Valentine’s Day and not returning them on White Valentine’s Day is something popular boys and girls endure every year.
Over time, it becomes normal.
“Mm.”
Rose nodded slightly, her cheeks flushed.
She couldn’t count how many times she had blushed that morning.
Diana then slammed her chocolate on the table, “I’ll put mine there too.”
Neither planned to open their chocolate.
Regardless of who sent it, ignorance meant indifference.
But what if there were mushy messages inside?
Dark suddenly realized placing the chocolate on the table wasn’t wise.
So Valentine’s Day is truly annoying.
He quickly said, “No, we can’t. Who knows what’s written inside? If someone picks it up and reads it, it could be awkward.”
“Huh?” Diana was confused, “What should we do then?”
Dark smiled, “Why not eat it?”
They say Senior Pandora receives countless anonymous gifts on Valentine’s Day but never returns them on White Valentine’s Day, and she’s fine, right?
…
“Eat it?” Diana swallowed reflexively, her eyes gleaming.
When it comes to eating, she was quite vocal!
Rose pushed her chocolate towards Diana, “Eat mine too.”
Diana pouted, “I’m not just going to eat anything. It has to taste good!”
…
Potions class…
Professor Thompson entered the classroom with a smile.
Unusually, he waved to the students below and loudly asked, “Classmates, how was the effect of the Honey-Tongue Potion?”
Gods and demons.
Professor Thompson walked up to the podium, knocked on the table, and waited until all the students’ attention was focused on him. Then he scratched his head with a sheepish look, and apologized, “Before we start the class, I need to apologize. There was a small problem with the preparation method for the ‘Honey Whisper Potion’ in our last lesson; the potion will stink… Ouch, but thankfully it won’t explode. I don’t think anyone would want to make such a potion, right? So there should still be time to fix it?”
He chuckled to himself and then turned to face the blackboard, writing as he spoke, “Today’s lesson is about deducing the properties of a potion from its recipe. Now please turn to page xx in your textbooks.”
He looked completely unfazed.
Most students also appeared unfazed.
A few students who noticed the anomaly quickly pretended to be unfazed as well.
Only a few students couldn’t help reaching for their bags.
“Those people, they don’t do effect tests after making potions?”
Dark spun a pen, his gaze sweeping over the uneasy-looking male and female students, guessing that they probably wanted to use the potion right away after hastily preparing it.
Or perhaps they only managed to gather enough materials for one bottle…
“Hmm, thinking about it, Professor Thompson is truly a sinner!”
Haha…
Although the beginning of this potion class was somewhat dramatic, the content being taught was very important.
Dark put aside thoughts of Valentine’s Day and chocolate and began to listen attentively.
Sometimes theoretical knowledge could be relatively boring, but it was necessary.
In the past, he would have likely fallen asleep during such lectures.
Nowadays, his self-control had indeed improved significantly.
…
After an hour and a half, the potion class ended.
Professor Thompson never mentioned the “Honey Whisper Potion” again.
The students packed up their books amidst laughter and gradually headed towards the classroom for the summoning class.
Diana walked down the path, unable to resist opening the chocolates someone had given her. Inside was a peach-shaped card with colorful edges.
Diana took out the card, and Rose leaned in.
It read in tiny font, “Dear Diana, I have been watching you all along. From the moment you were sorted into the Noble Academy during the sorting ceremony, through your brave performances in the duel classes, to your efforts during the Halloween activities…
In the club recruitment tournament, you showed yourself off, and recently in the novice tournament, you shone brightly… I have watched every step of your journey. You are my cherished moonlight, my treasure…”
“I do not ask for your favor, I just wish to fulfill a small wish.”
“May I feed you?”
…
Diana: “…”
Rose: “It’s from a girl.”
Diana pouted involuntarily and then stuffed the chocolate into her mouth, biting down hard!
“Crunch!”
…
Dark silently quickened his pace, pretending he hadn’t heard anything.
…
In the summoning class, Professor Shylph collected the massive amount of homework left over from the previous lesson and started explaining the content.
She sometimes required the use of assignment paper and often didn’t return them once collected.
Some students suspected she didn’t actually grade them.
But because Professor Shylph explicitly stated that homework grades would be included in the final exam score, no one dared to test her.
Overall, this was a very productive class.
After the summoning class ended, the students finally had the entire afternoon off.
Students with foresight began planning for Valentine’s Day.
After lunch, Dark returned to the dormitory, slightly worried about Deoxys’ condition.
But upon reflection, eating just one liqueur chocolate shouldn’t cause much intoxication.
So he felt relatively relaxed.
Since today was a rare snowy day, he thought about taking the golems outside to play in the afternoon.
With the “Paradise” present, summoning would be a bit troublesome.
However, he hadn’t told them about this surprise yet.
On the way back to the tower, he noticed more and more people outside, the castle grounds gradually filled with laughter and joy.
Diana and Rose walked beside him, casually inviting him to play in the snow later.
He shared some of his plans.
Diana immediately said, “Then I’ll bring the baby panda! No, it’s so cold outside, I need to get it something warm!”
Excitement filled her voice.
Changing dolls’ clothes seemed to be a common hobby among girls. Although Diana wasn’t particularly concerned about her own attire, she always enjoyed changing her familiar’s clothes.
Rose, relieved to see Diana successfully join in, thought it was time to bring her familiar out for some fresh air too.
Even though she felt her familiar was clumsier compared to Dark’s, even clumsy children deserved love.
“Let’s meet at two o’clock.”
Dark set a time and then parted ways with the two in the common room.
Not surprisingly, on Valentine’s Day, there were many more couples in the common room.
Dark sighed and climbed the stairs.
Stopping in front of his dorm door, he took out his key and opened the door.
With a click, the door opened successfully, revealing a mysterious world before him.
After glancing inside, the smile on Dark’s face vanished.
He entered the foyer silently, closed the door behind him, and slipped on slippers in one fluid motion.
Then he stepped into the room, scanning everything and taking in all the golems at once.
Atop the cat tree, Diuxys sat high and mighty as usual, clearly fully awake, reading a picture book with a small dictionary and snacks nearby.
Dark had prepared plenty of snacks for the golems, available for them to take anytime.
When Dark entered, Diuxys glanced up briefly, then resumed reading.
This part was normal.
But on a lower part of the cat tree, a ball of fur lay belly-up, four legs spread, lying limply with rosy cheeks.
Further down, the imp beast hung precariously at the edge, seemingly ready to fall at any moment.
Nearby, the piplup floated dizzily in a small inflatable pool, occasionally blowing bubbles.
The big milk jar lay on the ground, mimicking the actions of dairy cow grass.
Through the balcony window, one could see the wrestler eagle, strict as ever, practicing on the wooden dummy.
The ditto carried a trash slime, which wore a “Meow” golem card, sticking to the window to watch the snowfall.
But the card faced inward!
…
“Mia—”
A pink figure suddenly lunged from the side.
Dark sidestepped but stopped, raising his hand.
Eevee successfully clung to him, rubbing her cheek against his cheek.
That soft touch was always irresistible.
But Dark didn’t indulge further and instead pushed her away, expressionless, “Alright, stop pretending, you’re not drunk.”
“Mia?”
Eevee’s expression froze instantly.
Had the plan to mix in unnoticed already been exposed?!
Panicked, it closed its eyes, letting its strength dissipate, pretending to be too drunk to hear anything.
But Dark pried open its eyelids, forcing them open.
“Tell me what happened,” he pointed at the several tipsy golems in the bedroom, his tone serious.
Eevee’s heart skipped a beat, “Mia mia mia,” trying to cover it up.
But at that moment, Diuxys on the cat tree slowly said, “It fed them chocolate with alcohol.”
Eevee’s hair stood on end, and it abruptly turned its head, “Mia! (You sneaky cat!)”
Diuxys returned to reading.
Dark’s face darkened, understanding a little.
But he still lacked the full picture.
In fact, after seeing Diuxys eat the liqueur chocolate that Dark had bitten into, Eevee had considered imitating it.
But it was worried it might lose consciousness and do something that would upset Dark.
So after careful consideration, it came up with a brilliant plan!
It would lure the golems into eating the liqueur chocolate, and once they were drunk, it could pretend to be drunk too!
Thus, it could enjoy cuddling while remaining sober.
And it would avoid any accidental mishaps due to drunkenness!
Upon reflection, this was a brilliant strategy.
If it had ever tasted alcohol before, it might have succeeded.
Therefore, regardless of what one does, one must master their skills…
Of course, Eevee couldn’t reveal its entire plan.
Now that things had been exposed, it could only try to bluff its way through!
“Mia—”
It immediately flopped to the ground, wide-eyed and innocent, exposing its belly to its owner.
