Chapter 401: The Eldest Son of the Neighbor
Lin Nuo believed in the light, and he beheld it.
Yet, he did not transform into a giant; he remained in human form, now in another place.
It felt like being underwater because he recognized it as an underwater environment.
But he wasn’t choking, nor suffocating, and wasn’t drowning; everything felt perfectly normal.
According to the unfolding plot, he wouldn’t immediately become a giant; usually, the first episode involves encountering the giant, then obtaining the transformation device, and only then could he become a giant.
Got it, this watery place hides the giant; eventually, he would meet the light giant, who would say he was the chosen one, and then he’d go on to protect the Earth.
Sounds a bit cliché, but for a true man, that’s a dream come true.
Lin Nuo found himself in a corridor, surrounded by water plants and stones. The spaces behind and ahead were the same, like a mirror, and he was right at the boundary of that reflection.
Walking forward or backward looked the same, so there was no point in agonizing over it.
Where was he heading?
Lin Nuo was unsure, so he continued moving forward.
The last time he encountered something like this was on Tianling Mountain.
That day, he and Su Kexin had ventured into an alternate space and encountered imagery of the Sea Domain Dragon Clan invading the land hundreds of years ago.
Then they had talked for ages with a couple and obtained the Water Spirit Heart.
Now, being brought here by the Water Spirit Heart, once again, it was about the ocean—perhaps there was a connection.
When would this come to an end?
Lin Nuo wondered; it seemed like the corridor would never end, and he couldn’t see the endpoint ahead.
He paused, deciding to sit for a while.
No more walking; after all, there was no end in sight.
He looked around and said coldly, “Who’s there? Come out and show yourself!”
He heard no response, but he felt someone was watching him.
In fact, Lin Nuo was somewhat used to these sudden spaces.
He had a general idea of the pattern.
This was all an illusion; he was like a character in a book, and someone was watching him with a god-like perspective.
Illusions could change, and so could the scenes.
Just as he had that thought, the corridor vanished, replaced by a spiritual altar beneath the sea. He could see various swimming fish and seaweed, along with all sorts of underwater plants.
Those were just for decoration; he guessed they weren’t real because he wasn’t aquatic and couldn’t breathe or move freely down here.
He tried using a wind technique, and it worked effortlessly. His current state felt just like being on land.
He noticed spiritual stones floating around, emitting a faint glow, and ahead stood a man draped in a cloak, holding a spiritual staff, facing away from him.
Lin Nuo wondered who this mysterious figure was and what kind of tricks he was up to.
Would he turn around and look grotesque, a sight that would shatter his worldview?
Perhaps he was the master of this space.
Lin Nuo didn’t approach, instead, he called out to the man’s back, “Are you the master of this place?”
The man paused for a moment, then slowly turned to face him.
He appeared to be in his forties, sporting a long beard, a serious face, and bright, piercing eyes.
“Yes.”
His voice was magnetic.
“You are remarkable to have found this place; you must already know what is happening?”
“I don’t know.”
Lin Nuo replied bluntly, not knowing anything. He discovered this location, but then a light appeared, and he was suddenly here; how could he know what was going on?
Even though he was a reincarnated villain with memories, he hadn’t encountered every event—and he hadn’t read the script.
“So where is this? I didn’t break in on my own.”
“You possess a treasure; I can sense it can deal with the Sea Domain Dragon Clan.”
The man stated.
“Let me introduce myself; I’m Fu, the master mage of this spiritual altar and a member of the Sea Domain Dragon Clan.”
“So I am in trouble, then?”
Lin Nuo became alert, preparing for a confrontation.
The man mentioned he had a treasure to deal with the Sea Domain Dragon Clan, and then declared himself a member of that clan—wasn’t that asking for a fight?
It seemed those small islands were specifically created by the Sea Domain Dragon Clan to lead him here; he had thought it was a major discovery, but it turned out to be a trap.
That was careless of him.
Yet, it didn’t matter much regarding his own carelessness, as they had used new technology, and he didn’t have much past interaction with the Sea Domain Dragon Clan, thus he was unfamiliar with their tricks.
As a major villain, he shouldn’t be knelt down here; after all, he had seen countless battles and had survived dire situations more than once.
Fu quickly explained, “Don’t misunderstand; I’m not here to be your enemy. On the contrary, I mean no harm. I’m a member of the Sea Domain Dragon Clan, but I don’t intend to invade the land.”
“Being a member of the Sea Domain Dragon Clan and not invading the land, what’s the difference from a salted fish?”
Lin Nuo expressed his stern disapproval; it seemed that as a villain, if you didn’t do bad things, how were you different from a salted fish?
“Every man has his ambitions, including us. No one can definitively conclude that the Sea Domain Dragon Clan must be enemies with the beings of the land; on the contrary, we can coexist harmoniously,” Fu said.
“I don’t think your clansmen would welcome you.”
“Indeed, because my views differ from theirs, I’m ostracized. However, I have no intention of pleasing them; I hide my strength, and they perceive me as average, and when I leave them, they won’t pay me much mind. I created this hidden barrier to ensure the peace of this sea area.”
“So, the smooth winds and rains in Ru Yu Village are all thanks to you?” Lin Nuo began to connect the dots.
“Not entirely; there are also the efforts of humans.”
Fu stated,
“Don’t know if you recognize him, but please come with me.”
After saying that, Fu stepped forward slowly.
Lin Nuo pondered how about changing the illusion? Since everything was under his control, he could change it to whatever he liked.
Nonetheless, he followed along. The spiritual altar was vast, and after walking a while with Fu, he could see an enormous spiritual array ahead, radiating brilliant spiritual light, with winds swirling around its edges, and a person standing within.
Although it had been a while since he saw him, Lin Nuo still had a slight impression.
After all, he had seen his portrait on land, and his family had spoken about him, so he remembered.
“He’s not dead?”
Lin Nuo asked.
“No, he’s just come here,” Fu replied.
“So what’s he doing?”
“Supporting this spiritual array; he cannot leave; otherwise, the protective barrier I created for the sea area will fail.”
“He’s just a mortal—how can he do this?” Lin Nuo continued.
“Not exactly; he is extraordinary. In fact, he’s perfectly suited for this; his body can withstand high-intensity spiritual technique impacts, and my barrier requires someone to stand at the key junction to connect.”
“Did you force him to come?”
“Not at all; it was his own choice. Don’t you know him?”
“I do; he’s the eldest son of the neighbor,” Lin Nuo responded.
“So you’re from that village too. Now the village is in trouble, and he has sought your help.”
After speaking, Fu weakened the spiritual array’s intensity a bit so that the man inside could converse with Lin Nuo.
That was the eldest son of the neighbor, Yu Long.
