Lin Nuo retorted, feeling baffled. Had this dragon person been stuck in some alternate space for too long, completely out of touch with little girls? Just because he was holding a girl’s hand, he assumed they were dao companions.

“Isn’t it obvious? If you’re not dao companions, why are you walking in holding hands? And the glowing thing in your hands is that crystal stone you had before, right? I can bet you have more than one,” Fu commented, observing them closely. That blue light was obviously emanating from the Water Spirit Heart; he recalled how the young couple entered hand-in-hand, with the girl leaning against the boy, her eyes brimming with admiration and reliance on him—how could he not notice?

“Ah, I remember back in the day when I was young too; she was just as close to me. Sigh, that was decades ago. We were so…”

“Stop right there! I’m not here to hear your old love stories.”

Lin Nuo interrupted him, saying, “We’re not dao companions; we’re just a regular senior martial brother and junior martial sister.”

“Quite possible! We’ve already repaired the array points on the islands out on the sea.”

Lin Nuo chuckled, a bit proud. “Don’t you think maintaining this grand array will be easier than before?”

“Indeed, it’s easier.”

Fu thought for a moment and realized it was true. It felt like he had been carrying a heavy burden, choking under the pressure, and now someone was helping to lighten the load, making everything significantly easier.

After all, it had been just him and Yu Long holding it up; now it seemed like there was extra power assisting him, naturally making it much lighter.

But that didn’t change the reality of the collapsing space; his remaining spiritual power was far from enough to sustain it.

“But even if you’ve fixed the outer array points, if this place collapses, it will all be for nothing.”

“That’s exactly why we’re here, and we will undoubtedly succeed.”

Lin Nuo said confidently, because he had brought the main character, Su Kexin, with him.

With the main character around, saving the world was bound to succeed. If this place collapsed, the main character would die too, which was totally unacceptable.

Lin Nuo reached that spot, looking at Fu, saying, “From now on, I’ll take over the spell-casting, which means I’m helping you repair the array. If I can succeed, then this disaster can be prevented.”

“Youth, that’s impossible. This array is extremely difficult to fix, and failing will cause it to collapse ahead of schedule. It could have held out for a few more hours, but now the tsunami will rush in and devour everything on land, and you will all die here when you could’ve survived!”

“Just tell me, can I do it or not?”

“I’m afraid not. You all need to leave quickly and not come near here.”

“Then it has to be this way.”

Lin Nuo unsheathed the Phoenix Sword, pointing it toward Fu, its sharp blade exuding an ominous intent.

“What’s happening, senior brother?!”

Su Kexin panicked, confused about the situation. Why did her senior brother suddenly draw his sword? Was this person an enemy or a friend?

“Youth, why do you have to do this?”

“I don’t like lecturing about greater principles; if I don’t agree with your approach and the destiny you can’t change, then let me change it.”

“But that’s nearly impossible.”

“You’d rather live a few more hours instead of taking the chance? You think it’s impossible, but I assure you, it can succeed. If you insist on stopping me, then to the Yellow Springs with you.”

Lin Nuo’s attitude was incredibly firm; he was not going to compromise with Fu, ready to resolve things by force.

Fu stepped back from the spell-casting area. With no one to cast spells, the space began to collapse even more, the flickering spiritual light turning chaotic, resembling an abstract painting.

Lin Nuo led Su Kexin inside. Then, the Water Spirit Heart in their hands burst forth with a bright blue light, starting to channel energy into the grand array.

Lin Nuo closed his eyes, concentrating intently on chanting a long incantation, as if countless chains connected him to the spell-casting area, with the energy from the Water Spirit Heart streaming down those chains to every part of the grand array.

The space stabilized, seemingly on the verge of remaining steady, but then it began to rapidly collapse again, shaking violently.

“Senior brother, what’s happening…”

Su Kexin clutched Lin Nuo’s arm, feeling scared.

“Not enough; this place needs way more energy.”

Lin Nuo frowned, struggling with the spell.

He looked at Su Kexin.

“Senior brother, what’s wrong?” she asked, confused.

“Kiss me.”
