I’m Really Not Trying to Be Chased by the Heroine as the Villainous Playboy! – Chapter 15

Chapter 15: First Impressions of Blind Dates

Roy’s distress was clear to Alice, who was nearby.

Love and marriage were totally foreign concepts for her.

She didn’t quite get it.

But she had asked Anya about it yesterday.

“‘Love’ means being someone special for each other.”

Someone special.

If the master and the princess got married and became special to each other, what would that make her? Would she still be considered ‘special’ to her master?

With that thought, a strange sense of gloom washed over Alice, making even cheesecake lose its sweetness.

But she quickly blinked and took a deep breath, shaking off the gloom and cheering herself up.

It was good for her master to find happiness.

She should be supporting him!

“Master, Princess Charlotte is so outstanding and beautiful, don’t you like her?”

Roy’s expression turned a bit odd at her question.

“It’s not a matter of liking or not. We just… aren’t really suited for each other.”

Little sis, that’s your future wife; I can’t let you down, can I?

Huh?

But hey, he wasn’t that ‘roguish Roy’ anymore—he wouldn’t be mistreating Alice or igniting Charlotte’s sense of justice and protectiveness anymore.

So, it was possible these two girls might never actually be together.

But that didn’t change his current predicament.

Roy remembered a couple of lines from “Angel’s Wheel Dance” mentioning that ‘roguish Roy’ had been on a blind date with Charlotte, but all that resulted in was her increasing her disdain for him, leading to a rather sour exit.

That bit only had two lines and wasn’t described in detail, so Roy had completely forgotten about it at first.

It was understandable, really.

If he were in Roy’s shoes, he wouldn’t want to marry a good-for-nothing heiress who abused her servants, especially given his own rather favorable circumstances.

Roy was honestly not interested in pursuing Charlotte and was even trying to avoid it.

In the face of beauty, he treasured his own life more.

But he had promised his old man, who in turn had promised the royal family; he had to go on this blind date.

He couldn’t embarrass the royal family, could he?

He couldn’t offend Princess Charlotte and also skip out on the blind date.

Fortunately, he was no longer that annoyingly useless rogue; at least he wouldn’t be a brain-dead sycophant nor a greasy pest.

Roy optimistically thought that as long as he remained a polite gentleman, Charlotte wouldn’t seek trouble with him, right?

“Master, if there’s anything you need help with, just let me know,” Alice suddenly offered again.

Looking at the sincere little maid in front of him (ignoring her deadpan face), Roy felt a warm feeling inside.

His little cotton-padded jacket was indeed heartwarming!

Who cares about the princess, really?

“Actually, there’s something I need help with regarding this blind date.”

Roy earnestly instructed, “Whatever the royal family’s maid asks you, just answer truthfully.”

Alice didn’t ask why, simply nodding obediently, “As you wish, Master.”

———————————————————

Days passed.

The day of the blind date with Charlotte finally arrived.

Considering Charlotte was in the capital and it would be inconvenient for her to travel to the border, Roy specifically suggested that the date location be set in a small town between Ainbrad’s territory, Blood Iron Ridge, and Lionheart City in the capital—Day Wind Town.

Roy came to Day Wind Town a week early to scout the location, and as soon as he received news of Charlotte entering town, he promptly rushed there to greet her with his attendants.

At the lord’s mansion, a brilliantly striking golden-red griffin was proudly leading a convoy through the streets. The luxurious redwood carriage was adorned with rubies and gold, depicting a lion king’s crest roaring amidst blood and fire.

Regular griffins were gray, only those with royal blood had golden-red fur.

And the emblem on the carriage, symbolizing the king’s proud spirit and valor, was none other than the Lionheart family’s crest.

The convoy slowed down before Roy.

The door swung open, and a black-silk-clad foot wrapped in brown high-heeled boots slowly stepped down.

A light breeze tousled her fiery red hair.

The red-haired girl wore a dark red military dress adorned with badges and accessories up top, along with a matching short skirt and elegant black over-the-knee socks. Her delicate face appeared youthful, yet carried an air of innate pride.

The Lionheart family valued martial prowess, having only daughters instead of princesses.

Yet the girl was anything but a rough warrior; every gesture blended the royal’s pride with feminine elegance and poise.

The brightest ruby of the Lionheart Kingdom, even the sunset seemed dull in comparison—she truly lived up to her reputation.

The attendants let out small gasps of surprise.

Even Roy, who thought he was prepared, found himself momentarily entranced by this crimson figure.

However, Charlotte herself was equally taken aback.

Roy Ainbrad looked even better than in the portrait.

Regardless of his character, Charlotte could definitely acknowledge his good looks.

Fortunately, the awkward silence didn’t last too long.

Roy quickly regained his composure and stepped forward.

“Welcome, Your Highness.”

“You look even more beautiful than five years ago. Please forgive my momentary daze over your beauty.”

“Mr. Ainbrad is just being polite. Speaking of appearances, you’re not too shabby yourself,” Charlotte replied with a light huff, seemingly stating it casually.

But unbeknownst to her, it was the first time she complimented a man since the blind dates began.

When Roy extended his hand, she was surprised to find that she didn’t refuse for the first time, allowing him to help her down from the carriage.

Charlotte actually disliked physical contact with unfamiliar men; she wasn’t a weak woman who couldn’t get out of a carriage by herself.

But previous suitors would seize every opportunity to get handsy, forcing her to put on a sour face in rejection.

Surprisingly, Roy merely helped her down and didn’t cling on, letting go without any hesitation.

—In the face of this potentially life-threatening lioness, Roy wouldn’t dare linger.

“After a long journey, Your Highness, why not rest awhile while I arrange for afternoon tea?”

Charlotte raised her delicate brow and teased, “You’re rather considerate, aren’t you?”

“If you wish to dive right into afternoon tea, I’m all for it,” Roy replied leisurely, indicating everything was up to her.

“Let’s wait a bit longer.”

In the past, suitors had rushed in like they’d never seen a woman before, disregarding her travel fatigue, eager to start the date right away.

Little did they know, a girl freshening up could take quite some time.

Even though she was called a ‘princess’, Charlotte was still a girl and couldn’t neglect her appearance.

This guy seems quite thoughtful.

Charlotte’s stiff expression softened a little, and her steps became lighter.
