Chapter 46: That Woman!
Douglas originally wanted to tough it out, trying to force his agenda, figuring that the worst-case scenario would just be a battle—Lionheart wouldn’t stand a chance against the Golden Sands, and Roy wasn’t a fool who couldn’t see that.
Until Roy dropped the name of that woman!
Her name was more shocking than anything that had happened in this negotiation.
Because she was the mastermind behind the Academy’s top faction, the Dark Magic faction!
This showed that Roy was well-acquainted with the faction struggles of the Academy, far beyond what a mere freshman should know!
He might even have a partnership with that woman!
The Academy might appear calm on the surface, but in reality, the three major factions were eyeing each other with hostility, secretly gaining ground.
Douglas had suffered countless losses at the hands of that woman; he hated her deeply, feared her like a nightmare. It’s safe to say she was the last opponent he wanted to face!
If Roy really was allied with that woman, once the battle began, the Golden Sands would be sandwiched by both the Lionheart and Dark Magic factions!
If before, Douglas had viewed Roy with curiosity and later animosity, now he was filled with profound dread!
A guy who could team up with that witch was better left undisturbed!
On one side, Douglas was sweating coldly, looking as if facing a great enemy, while on the other, Roy sat poised and calm, Nia glanced back and forth between them, puzzled.
Just a moment ago, she was ready to step in, but who would’ve thought Roy’s single line could scare the mighty Douglas of Sequence 7 like this!
Could it be that Douglas was actually gay and Roy had something on him? The elven girl let her thoughts run wild.
As Roy had suspected, Douglas certainly feared that woman to the point of PTSD.
Even Roy himself thought that witch was indeed the most formidable woman. She was the opponent one should not face at all.
Using the name “witch” to intimidate others was just too fitting.
Now that the threats had been laid out, it was time to settle it.
“Senior, at least for now, I don’t intend to be your enemy.”
“I’ve said from the start, my goal is simply to give Alice and Nia a fair deal. They were bullied and threatened, and they deserve a heartfelt apology; that’s all I want.”
The prince slumped back in his seat, covering his forehead as he pondered.
After a long while, it seemed he finally gave up and let out a long sigh.
When he looked over again, the prince of the Golden Sands had regained his initial politeness, though his hoarse voice was laced with undeniable exhaustion.
“Roy Ainbrad, you win.”
“You’ll get what you want; from now on, we’ll have nothing to do with each other.”
Douglas voluntarily extended his hand.
Roy nodded, “Very well.”
The boy shook his hand satisfactorily.
The negotiation concluded successfully.
Roy left with the two girls.
Nearby, Ayana stared in disbelief at the scene, her eyes almost popping out, scarcely able to believe it.
Douglas actually forsook her, the daughter of a marquis!
“Douglas! You can’t treat me like this! You still need the support of the Shanik family…”
From behind the door, Ayana’s hysterical cries echoed, but that was no longer relevant to Roy and the others.
————————
“Even if the Lionheart faction comes to help, in the end, it will be Roy who suffers.”
Entertainment aside, the second and third-year students had a deep understanding of the inner workings of the Academy’s major factions and knew full well that the Golden Sands faction was not to be trifled with.
Despite the Lionheart faction having the numbers, when it came down to it, they would struggle to gain an advantage against the Golden Sands faction.
Just in Sequence 8, the Golden Sands faction outnumbered the Lionheart faction by double.
This was also why Charlotte hadn’t acted immediately.
However, that recent stir from Sequence 7 made Charlotte increasingly anxious.
More and more members from the Golden Sands faction flowed in downstairs, while there was no movement upstairs, leaving everyone clueless about the situation inside.
Would Roy be okay?
Just as Charlotte was about to lose patience, the grand doors finally swung open.
This time, it wasn’t reinforcements from the Golden Sands faction, but the Black-Haired Boy and the two girls.
Amidst the respectful bows of the servants, Roy leisurely stepped out of the mansion, all members of the Golden Sands Mansion instinctively retreating to clear a path for him.
Jenny and Amy eagerly rushed over to Nia, inquiring about the negotiation’s outcome.
Nia beamed with joy, her mood at an all-time high: “Don’t worry, it’s all sorted!”
“That dreadful woman is finished!”
Jenny was over the moon, while Amy, who had some understanding of the faction struggles, was stunned: “But Ayana is backed by the leader of the Golden Sands faction, how did you manage to sway him?”
“Honestly, it’s more about Roy,” Nia shyly chuckled, glancing at the Black-Haired Boy, unable to help but exclaim: “It’s all thanks to him.”
Who’d have thought the so-called scoundrel was actually a sworn knight? This guy really knows how to hide his true self.
Nia had been worried about what to do if a conflict really broke out, but instead, Roy had handled everything and even pulled off a stunning turnaround.
This guy was way more reliable than she had imagined!
The elven girl didn’t notice that her gaze now held a special fondness for him.
Until the red-haired princess looked her way.
Nia instinctively averted her gaze, avoiding the princess’s stare.
Roy, meanwhile, approached Charlotte at a relaxed pace. Upon seeing the young man, Princess Charlotte stopped paying attention to Nia, leaped off her griffin, and hurried toward him.
“What happened? That jerk Douglas didn’t give you any trouble, did he?” Charlotte frowned, scrutinizing him closely.
“Nothing much, I’ve dealt with it.” Roy smiled lightly, feeling slightly embarrassed as he rubbed his cheek: “Honestly, you didn’t need to come all the way here; it wasn’t necessary.”
To him, Charlotte coming in person felt a little over the top.
“Don’t say such foolish things; protecting you is my duty.” Charlotte replied, her brow slightly furrowed. Gazing intently at him, her tone became resolute: “If Douglas dares to lay a hand on you, I’ll make him regret deciding to turn against you with all my strength!”
Her crimson eyes flickered like candlelight, revealing her concern and determination.
By this point, the fire in Charlotte’s eyes softened a little, rippling like waves, her originally stunning beauty tinged with a faint blush. Her once-mighty voice softened, and she gently whispered to the young man: “After all, you are my sworn knight.”
The unexpected blow left the boy’s heart racing, his cheeks flushing.
Even for Charlotte, gathering so many people in such a short time was no easy feat. And going to war with the entire Golden Sands faction was certainly not a wise move.
Yet Charlotte still did this for him.
It’s said that loyal ministers would die for their king, but in Charlotte’s case, it was reversed.
Roy forced a smile and sighed: “Sorry to worry you this time.”
“Hmph, as long as you know,” Charlotte tilted her head, extending her hand, she leisurely stated: “So, you know what to do, right? My knight.”
“Your wish is my command.”
Roy smiled as he placed his hand in the princess’s gentle grasp, and under her lead, they mounted the golden-red griffin that symbolized the Lionheart royal family.
Watching the closeness between the two, Nia’s expression turned a bit strange.
She quietly asked the blonde girl: “What’s the relationship between those two?”
Alice blurted out: “Sovereign and subject.”
“Sovereign and subject, is that all?”
In Alice’s eyes, memories of that night at the Red Sunset Castle flashed, where the knight and the princess shared a fiery kiss in the sunset.
After a moment of silence, the blonde girl lowered her gaze, no longer watching them snuggling up together.
“Just that.”
