Chapter 49: Trusting the Senior to Make the Wise Decision
The sky was getting darker.
As the last rays of twilight faded, countless figures cloaked in black robes gathered at the foot of the South Sea Mansion, like a thick, unyielding cloud or an unstoppable tide of darkness.
Before the witch, the seven factions fought separately, far outmatched by the Golden Sands and South Sea factions.
But now, wizards from the seven academies, wearing the same robes, united under Leanna’s name, rising to become the top of the three main factions of the Academy.
Among all kinds of Extraordinary Beings, in terms of teamwork, wizards were undoubtedly the best.
No one could remain calm before this group of wizards.
At the forefront was a purple-haired girl, raising a short wand and energetically shouting, “Attack!”
What followed was a dazzling brilliance that nearly tore through the night.
Countless flashes of light, differing in types and colors, erupted from various wands, lighting up the air like the morning star before they came crashing down with a terrifying force.
The barrier of the South Sea Mansion undulated restlessly, and despite the protective barrier, the dreadful impacts still ravaged the mansion itself, causing it to tremble uncontrollably.
Outside the mansion, the defending Extraordinary Beings stared at the fading blue barrier, their faces pale.
Inside the banquet hall, the remaining core members of the South Sea faction were in a flurry.
“Quick, send a familiar to relay messages and bring our combat forces back!”
“I’ve already sent over a dozen, but those wizards shot them all down!”
“Forget about messages, the barrier won’t hold much longer; hurry and get more magic crystals to recharge it!”
Kuran, agitated, kicked over the table in front of him, clenched his fists, and stood up to yell, “Damn it, why are we panicking? A bunch of little wizards got us scared? What kind of man are you?!”
He solicited Jason’s approval, “Your Highness, please allow me to lead a breakout! A few powerless wizards are no threat as long as we break into their ranks!”
However, not only was he not given permission, but his passionate request didn’t even earn Jason a second of attention.
Instead, it was met with scorn from the crowd.
“Stop talking nonsense!”
“If you want to die, go ahead; don’t drag us with you!”
Not everyone was as martial as the Lionheart’s subjects; after all, there were circumstances where honor existed even in defeat. For lower-year students to achieve results against their upper-year counterparts with fewer numbers was indeed glory.
If they charged out and confronted the Black Magic faction head-on, not only would they be dead for nothing, but it would also be a laughingstock.
The crowd could only watch helplessly as the barrier above them slowly faded, unable to offer anything more constructive than cursing Kuran.
At that moment, Roy leisurely took out an agreement and placed it before Jason.
“I said I don’t care about your agreement; if it must be signed, it should be this one.”
Jason glanced over it swiftly, veins popping on his forehead.
Compensating for the losses of the Lionheart faction, returning the territory seized earlier, halting new member recruitment for this semester, and even relinquishing some of their existing territories or using Extraordinary materials and items as replacements to compensate for offending the Lionheart faction.
This agreement was even more excessive than the one he previously offered to the Lionheart.
Summarizing it, it was almost as if it explicitly stated that the South Sea faction must admit defeat and surrender, completely handing over their position as one of the three main factions!
If he had shown this agreement to Jason earlier, he probably would have laughed out loud.
However, looking at the sharp glint in the Black-Haired Boy‘s eyes and hearing the terrifying tremors of magic hitting the barrier, Jason felt a chill in his heart and his expression stiffened.
This guy was serious! He didn’t want a mutually destructive deal; he genuinely wanted to crush him completely!
With the Black Magic faction teaming up, he might really have that chance!
“Senior, you mentioned before that we are not enemies and there’s no need to escalate things this much,” Roy said, spreading his hands helplessly. “Signing this agreement would spare us from this unnecessary conflict, which would be good for both of us.”
Jason was too lost in thought to respond.
His confidence was not just from the strength of the South Sea faction, but also from believing that Roy was isolated and defenseless.
However, being able to prepare in advance, holding steady in a sudden attack, and now assembling such a powerful group of wizards only meant that Roy had anticipated everything long before he sent the invitation!
Most importantly, his secret alliance with the witch.
Without an alliance, the Lionheart faction wouldn’t dare to hold steady, and the Black Magic faction wouldn’t have launched an attack right after they sent reinforcements! Everything had been plotted by Roy!
Suddenly, Jason found himself mumbling.
“You were already allied!”
“Before I even sent the letter, no, even earlier! In your meetings this semester, you might have reached an agreement last semester to start planning all this! Even those rumors and secret meetings were all part of your show for me to see! It turns out you had your sights on me well before I noticed! So that’s how it is, that’s how it is…”
Jason trembled, raised his hand, took off his glasses, covered his face, and continued to mumble, showing a mixture of anger, fear, and excitement.
Watching him tremble while muttering, Roy couldn’t read his thoughts but felt a slight sympathy for him, inwardly cursing.
“Bro, you don’t need to overthink it. Honestly, if it weren’t for you, my alliance with Leanna wouldn’t even be on the table!”
Roy had already prepared a plan to deal with the South Sea faction. Essentially, he aimed to demonstrate the strength of the Lionheart, forcing the South Sea faction to stop.
In the original story, Charlotte paid a significant price to battle the South Sea faction extensively to achieve this, but Roy successfully convinced her to avoid direct confrontation, to hold steady, and to negotiate with Jason, minimizing the process and costs.
Who would’ve thought that before he even got moving, Leanna would send another letter.
Roy initially didn’t want to owe Leanna any favors, but the enemy’s enemy is a friend; with the support of the Black Magic faction, not only would it reduce losses, but it would also deal a substantial blow to the South Sea faction, making it too good an opportunity to miss!
Why face a two-on-one situation alone when he could fight justly?
Especially since Leanna needed his False King bloodline, which at least ensured she wouldn’t betray him right now.
But looking at that almost frantic blue-haired prince, Roy didn’t reveal the truth to correct his assumptions.
If Jason found out that it was his suppression of the Lionheart faction that had inadvertently helped forge the alliance with the Black Magic, Roy feared this guy would just collapse from anger on the spot.
The faction struggles between classmates were not the same as the personal fights with Cultists.
With the mindset of leaving a way out for future encounters, Roy sincerely advised, “It’s not too late to sign the agreement now.”
“As long as you sign, the Black Magic faction will immediately cease hostilities. Otherwise, when Leanna leads her people in, her agreement won’t be this gentle.” He paused, gently urging, almost like soothing a girl, “I trust that the senior will make a wise decision.”
However, upon hearing that, Jason suddenly lifted his head, forcefully flinging the agreement aside, gritting his teeth and barking, “Don’t even think about it!”
