Chapter 67: Don’t Worry, Having a Senior is Enough
Leanna always talks ambiguously; who knows what she would write in a letter!
If Nia misunderstood, no amount of explanation would suffice!
Realizing this, Roy rushed to grab the letter, but Nia was shockingly quick and snatched it first, squeezing the envelope in her hand.
“Hey, give it back!”
Roy tried to snatch it from behind, but the girl nimbly dodged, grinning, “Why should I return something I grabbed fair and square?”
Nia shook the letter in her hand, a suspicious look on her face. “Tsk tsk tsk, look at you all nervous. This wouldn’t happen to be a love letter, would it?”
“Cut it out, there might be something important in that letter… hey!”
Nia didn’t wait for him to finish, turning on her heel and taking off. With no choice, Roy quickly got up to chase after her.
But the Forest Elf of Sequence 7 moved like lightning, effortlessly darting around the not-so-spacious living room. After chasing for a while, he nearly slammed into the wall, not managing to catch even a single strand of her hair.
Realizing racing against Nia was a foolish endeavor, Roy plopped back down on the sofa, feigning annoyance as he waved his hand. “Fine, fine, you can look. I can’t be bothered to argue with you.”
Nia raised an eyebrow, grinning mischievously. “Then I won’t hold back!”
Just as the elven girl smoothly opened the envelope and her eyes fell on the letter, Roy sprang up from behind for a sneak attack.
Nia was startled and quickly raised the letter to prevent him from snatching it. However, Roy wasn’t actually aiming for the letter; taking advantage of her wide-open stance, he wrapped his arms around her waist.
Now it was Nia’s turn to panic. “Hey, what are you doing?”
“Nothing much, you wanted to see the letter, right? Go ahead.” Roy rested his chin on her shoulder, playing the rogue.
He figured if he couldn’t get the letter, he might as well make a move on Nia herself.
Just in case Leanna wrote something provocative, he could always say something sweet to Nia’s sensitive ears.
Nia was only wearing a bra on top, her soft belly exposed, letting Roy have his fun.
To be honest, Nia had curvy legs, a full chest, and her waist was proportionate and slender. Though her abdomen had smooth muscle lines and while not soft, it was warm and supple, making Roy reluctant to let go.
After a moment of biting her lip, Nia eventually sighed softly, her cheeks flushed, silently allowing the boy’s teasing as she read the letter.
The letter contained just a short note.
Nia, despite her playful nature, never slacked off on important matters. After confirming the letter’s contents, she immediately read it out loud for Roy: “The time has come; what we seek will be exhibited at the underground auction tomorrow night. See you in the southern district.”
The letter lacked Leanna’s usual teasing remarks, which relieved Roy. Just then, a panel appeared before him.
【Warning! Fate intertwining with the Royal Serpent detected, triggering a reverse fate mission. Every choice you make will alter destiny, please choose wisely!】
【Royal Serpent · Reverse Fate Progress】10%
【Current Reverse Fate Node: Royal Serpent】
Roy was somewhat surprised by this reverse fate node, but not caught off guard.
In the original story, it mentioned how Leanna went adventuring outside the academy on some weekends to advance to Sequence 6. This must be related.
If a Black Mage doesn’t quickly ascend to a higher bloodline level, they would increasingly suffer from bloodline backlash, as if pressed by a sword’s edge, forcing them to keep moving forward.
However, each time they crossed the threshold from low to medium or medium to high, they required magic potions.
For nobles like himself, it was manageable; they had magic potions at home, as long as they didn’t drink themselves to death.
But a Black Mage had to find stronger extraordinary materials on their own.
To be honest, Leanna’s situation was quite dire.
【Bloodline Resonance】could only treat the symptoms, not the root cause.
Though the original didn’t specify, Roy could guess if she failed this time and couldn’t ascend to Sequence 6, Leanna would inevitably become a bloodthirsty monster.
Thinking this, Roy clenched his hands a little tighter.
“Ugh…”
The Certificate of Kingship was a must-have; no doubt about that. In fact, that was the most important goal.
For the reverse fate node, as long as he ensured he didn’t fall into danger, he was fine.
Leanna was just an outsider; he didn’t need to worry about her too much.
But if he could help her without jeopardizing his acquisition of the Certificate of Kingship, it wouldn’t be too much trouble…
“Hey, isn’t it about time?!”
Nia’s slightly trembling voice jolted Roy out of his thoughts.
Looking down, he realized he had been pinching and squeezing her soft belly, turning it red. Nia’s legs, clad in white stockings, trembled, and she looked unsteady.
“Aren’t you done yet?!”
“Sorry, sorry!”
Roy chuckled awkwardly and finally let go.
Nia covered her belly with a huff.
But soon, she looked back, concerned. “Are you guys going to the underground auction?”
“That place is full of shady characters; you should be cautious…” Roy started but trailed off.
“Seriously?” Roy raised an eyebrow.
Nia frequently hung out at the Adventurers’ Guild and chatted with adventurers, so she was well-informed about Academy City. It was wise to ask her a bit more.
“Absolutely! The good stuff is never on display. All the wanted criminals, adventurers, mages, and even royal brats are keeping an eye on it.” Nia counted off on her fingers, her eyes shining with excitement with each word.
Nia put her chin in her hand, flicking her ponytail, striking a pose. “If anything goes down, you’ll be outnumbered. You could really use a hand; I simply have nothing to do…”
Alice, the maid, perked up nearby, looking at Roy like an eager puppy ready to go out but also trying hard to control herself.
“Forget it; aren’t you still preparing for a makeup exam tomorrow night?” Roy turned down Nia’s request first.
“Tsk.” Nia’s face immediately fell, her ears drooping.
Since Janthea had asked him to take care of Nia, he obviously couldn’t bring her into danger.
Especially since the Forest Elf‘s identity was coveted by All Things Wither, Roy hadn’t forgotten that there were cultists lurking in Academy City.
It was fine during the day, but the underground auction? If they really ran into cultists, Nia might just end up being hunted down.
“What about Alice…?”
“Alice, you just stay home and be good.”
The little maid wasn’t even considered in Roy’s plans.
After all, she still had room to grow; no need to drag her into a risky situation, right?
Alice moved her lips but ultimately didn’t voice her disappointment, obediently nodding.
Her master’s decision was everything; as a maid, she shouldn’t question it.
“Don’t worry, with a senior like me around, even if we run into trouble, the two of us will be enough to handle it,” Roy reassured.
Feeling this, however, caused Nia to have mixed feelings.
I’m just worried because you want to go out with her!
