Chapter 23: Tree Bang
Roy knew Xue Nuo very well.
People often misunderstand that the Rose of the Empire is aloof and unapproachable, but it’s really just the unique indifference of the imperial folks.
If you’re overly enthusiastic, she’ll be put off, but a little friendliness can go a long way in tightening the bond.
In the original story, Xue Nuo considered “Rascal Roy” a thorn in her side, largely because she couldn’t manage the teacher-student relationship and kept butting heads with him.
Little did she know, she was the type to soften under pressure. The more stubborn he got, the tougher she became; but if he was gentle, she’d ease up a bit too.
Unless he was like Enwei, a nasty and inept guy, it’s honestly not necessary to clash with a teacher.
Of course, it was just the first day. Having a few private words with the high-and-mighty flower was already a win.
But alas, happiness is a constant.
Roy was all smiles, while Charlotte on the way home was anything but.
Her brows were practically knitted together as the Red Princess gritted her teeth and said, “Seems like you really like that guy.”
“‘Teacher Xue Nuo’~ You sure do know how to say it sweetly.”
Roy shivered; that’s when he noticed Charlotte pouting with a terrifying expression on her face.
“No, this is just normal teacher-student interaction, right?”
“Normal?” Charlotte huffed, turning her head away, “Look at you two exchanging glances! It makes me not want to say anything about you!”
“Charlotte, you don’t believe I—” Roy began, but then realized his less-than-glorious track record wasn’t exactly trustworthy, making him choke on his words.
Given historical reasons, the trust card was played out.
But he knew very well that Charlotte was mostly just dramatic; she could be easily appeased.
Charlotte was probably just a bit miffed because their time together was lessening.
The quiet night showed no signs of the bustling day, and it took a while to spot a few passing shadows.
Summoning his courage, Roy suddenly hugged Charlotte from behind.
In a deliberately sweetened voice, he said, “I neglected my dear princess; it’s all my fault.”
“…Disgusting.” The princess said as she symbolically struggled but ended up leaning her soft self entirely against Roy’s embrace.
On this chilly fall night, holding Charlotte—the fire-type Extraordinary Being—felt like hugging a portable heater, warm and cuddly, impossible to resist.
But hold on, why was she so willingly snuggling in? Was this too easy to handle? Remembering how fierce she looked just a moment ago, Roy almost lost his composure.
But the next second, he realized he was too excited too soon.
“Follow me.”
“Oh…?”
Charlotte led him into a small grove beneath the school building.
It was dark and windy, with no one around, the trees casting eerie shadows in the moonlight, making it rather creepy.
Charlotte turned around, eyebrows raised slightly, her expression frigid, but her eyes glimmered with a sinister red, like a lion eyeing its prey: “Don’t think I’m easy to deal with; what happened just now isn’t over!”
Whoa, was this girl actually planning some sort of private revenge?
You think I’m that easy to bully? Steel bones and dragon scales, be careful not to hurt your hand!
Seeing Charlotte suddenly reaching out, a scared Roy stealthily covered his scales, preparing for impact.
However, instead of a slap, she pushed him hard against a tree.
And that’s when it hit Roy.
Tree bang.
Charlotte seemed to want to play tough, but the blush creeping onto her face was giving away her shyness.
Yet Roy’s mood didn’t lighten up; it only grew more alarming.
This is getting out of hand?!
The small grove wasn’t dense, and anyone with a sharp eye could easily spot what they were doing!
Right now, it was around the time classes ended, and besides Xue Nuo’s tutoring class, there were other classrooms and tutoring sessions going on nearby, meaning students and teachers were bound to pass by!
Even now, Roy could hear the distant laughter of people nearby.
He tried to struggle a bit, “This, this isn’t good, is it?”
“What? You know shame?” Charlotte shot him a look, “Weren’t you just fine locking eyes with the beautiful teacher?”
Roy wanted to pull his hair out.
He did not make eye contact with Xue Nuo!
Your map of Yan country is not only short but also rough! It’s like draping a white cloth over a blade—it’s so obvious!
“Anyway, I don’t care. You stay put!”
With that, Charlotte didn’t give Roy a chance to refuse and bit him on the lips.
But the fierce kiss didn’t last long.
In just a few seconds, the princess’s kiss turned soft, her gentle teeth pressing against him delicately.
Given the height difference, Charlotte had to tiptoe a little to reach him. As the one doing the tree bang, she lost herself in it, her legs going soft and pressing helplessly against Roy’s embrace.
Instead of lion claws, it felt more like a kitten tickling.
However, after the kiss, she raised her little face, now as red as a beet, forcing out a smug smile: “Got, scared yet?”
“Next time, it won’t be so easy…”
“Ah!”
A shocked voice came from beside them.
A pair of young lovebirds had just stumbled out from deeper in the grove, and the girl couldn’t help but scream.
That sound was no small matter, catching the attention of nearby students.
Charlotte instantly lost her composure, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, pulling Roy along and fleeing.
The next day.
During the break, the gossip about Roy and Charlotte turned into a never-ending topic for their classmates.
Feeling waves of either teasing or envious glances, Roy chose to stay silent, just feeling drained.
His interactions with Xue Nuo were going smoothly, but the tutoring class meant less time with Charlotte, and she was definitely going to throw a fit.
When Charlotte saw him on the road after being caught having a social death experience, she blushed so hard she couldn’t lift her head, but at least she calmed down.
But Roy knew, this was a turn-based game.
“Is it really necessary to come all this way for a ten-minute break?”
Looking at the elven girl slumping at his desk with her two pale legs hanging off, Roy felt a bit speechless.
Nia’s class was at the far east, while his was in the west; only an extraordinary being like Nia, who excelled in speed, could actually make it here right after the bell rang.
“Can’t I come? Then I’ll leave?”
Seeing Nia puff up her cheeks, Roy squeezed her little hand and forced a chuckle, “It’s not that, I mean if you want to come, just come! I just think the break is too short to do anything.”
The elven girl grinned playfully, hinting, “Well, not necessarily.”
“We focus on quality over quantity; this little bit of time is totally enough.”
As soon as those words left her mouth, Nia deftly leaped off the desk.
She plopped down right onto Roy’s lap, her hands resting on his shoulders.
A chorus of gasps and even screams erupted around them.
Sure, the classroom had its fair share of shameless couples, but they typically just held hands, cuddled a bit, or pecked cheeks.
But this? This was a bit too much even for fresh lovers.
Even Roy, sitting out in the open, couldn’t help but turn beet red.
“N-no, this isn’t really good…”
Nia’s smile grew cold at that, “Not good? You think I didn’t know what you did yesterday?”
Roy stuttered, “What are you talking about? I didn’t even touch a finger on Teacher Xue Nuo!”
Nia blinked: “What does that have to do with this guy?”
“I mean, just because you and Charlotte went that big last night, doesn’t mean it’s not allowed with me?” The elven girl pouted, squinted, and then pinched Roy’s cheek, saying sourly, “Wasn’t it supposed to be equal treatment?”
