Chapter 298: Act 65 – The King of the Underworld (16) (Second Update) (Seeking Support, Thank You for Everyone’s Support)
Black blood slowly spread out from the body of the dwarf.
If a needle had fallen from the sky at this moment, it would have definitely made a ‘ding’ sound that everyone could hear when it hit the ground.
Even the shouting in the arena had come to a halt.
Joeka made a soft sound in his throat, and he couldn’t help but turn back to look at Mahler. The latter, as if sensing something, also turned to look at him. Both of them saw disbelief in each other’s eyes.
So who exactly is this young man?
Even Joeka, despite his ignorance, realized at this moment that Brendel might be far from an ordinary person.
However, at this very moment, Brendel was feeling turmoil within, his mind like a turbulent sea. After the Cold Fir Fortress, just a few weeks later, he had entered that indescribable state for the second time—
Time and space were infinitely inclined towards stillness, the third definition of the law of elements was on the verge of revealing itself in his mind, but it felt as if there was a thin layer of paper separating him from it—he vaguely felt that it was also two laws—but opportunities slipped away fleetingly, and when he reached out to grasp them, the sounds returned to the arena.
The noise drowned everything, and everything returned to its original state.
Brendel paused for a moment before sighing. It was still a bit too early. If he had been at the golden median, he might have directly entered the second phase of the wall of elements just now. But everyone was the same; reaching the pinnacle of gold didn’t mean one would immediately enter the elemental realm. Understanding the rules was crucial, and there were many examples of prodigies who spent their entire lives in the golden realm.
Being smart does not mean one understands the world; sometimes, being single-minded allows one to see the essence more clearly. Furthermore, Brendel knew that this matter itself was heavily reliant on luck.
Generally, when it came to luck-based matters, he wouldn’t have too many expectations. After all, worst-case scenario, he could forcefully break through the wall of elements relying on the ancient tablets of the wizards.
Unlike most people, the young man had plenty of ways in his heart.
However, regardless, this matter was not without its benefits. Just like now, Brendel felt that his understanding of stillness and stability had deepened significantly. He could already confirm that this was definitely related to elemental forces. He glanced at the sword in his hand—the blade of the sword borrowed from Kuran was currently rippling with a layer of transparent wave.
Elemental power: Indestructible, 20% increase in hit correction, 100% increase in speed, with an additional 10% cold damage.
His retina immediately provided the properties of this layer of transparent wave; this was the power of elements. Although it was still not complete, at least it had moved from latent to explicit, just like Xi’s lightning power and Medisa’s soul power.
In fact, from the perspective of evaluating strength, Brendel at this moment could be considered on par with Xi and Medisa, but in terms of actual combat power, Brendel glanced at Kuran and thought to himself, he probably only had the strength of a higher-tier golden; at this moment, he also had the capability to fight.
If he was not mistaken, the first explicit enhancement of lightning element was: attack extension capability, 20% increase in speed, with an additional 30% lightning damage.
This was the gap.
Lightning, as a lower elemental force of wind, compared to the top elemental force of space, the difference was evident. However, in the past Amber Sword, players at the early stage of the game were indeed unable to obtain elemental power exceeding the ‘element’ tier.
In the later stage, only those at the top stages upgraded through the ‘Cocooning’ task were a few guild leaders or those famous RMB warriors in the entire server.
But Brendel found that his NPC identity had bypassed this restriction. Space element, he truly wanted to douse himself from head to toe with a bucket of water to calm down.
Just then, a loud voice interrupted his thoughts:
“Mortal, will you accept the next challenge?”
Everyone focused their gaze on Brendel in the center of the sandy ground, initially unable to believe, but at this moment they realized that the young man had already possessed the ability to save them.
Even far beyond their expectations.
Mahler still could not believe that Brendel was actually more powerful than the older Chief of Security, and it seemed that he was significantly stronger.
Under their watchful eyes, Brendel snapped his fingers to open the cage that contained Juliette, then nodded.
Thus, the challenge entered the next phase—
“My Lord.” Medisa approached, looking at the young lord with her pale silver eyes. As someone born in the age of the Saint War, this little princess didn’t find anything surprising about the golden realm; for both humans and silver elves, entering the golden realm before the age of twenty was almost a matter of course.
However, as someone who had experienced this stage, she still asked with concern, “How is it?” She was, of course, aware of what had happened to Brendel earlier.
Brendel said nothing, only raised his sword to show the silver elf princess.
“Ah!” Medisa was stunned: “Space element!”
“What?” Brendel raised an eyebrow, catching the surprise in her tone and couldn’t help but ask: “Isn’t space element supposed to be common in your time?”
In his understanding, the Saint War was an era where prodigies roamed freely on Earth, and geniuses like Tumen were numerous; wasn’t it common to find a few with space elements?
It should be noted that in the late stage of Amber Sword, though space and time were rare, there were still more than a dozen among the players.
“Not at all!” Medisa widened her eyes in confusion: “Back then, only the leader of the silver alliance’s wizards, the founder of the Tower of Stars and Moons, known as the last sage of the earth, Akas, possessed the space element.”
“Even earlier, there was only the Dark Dragon.” The girl added.
“Huh?” Brendel broke into a sweat. To be honest, although he knew quite a bit about the game background, he didn’t have the detailed insight of someone who had been there. Medisa’s explanation refreshed his understanding, but it also made him think secretly:
So Amber Sword still compromised with gameplay in the end. As he thought of the hundreds of players with top-tier elements, he couldn’t help but feel a wave of embarrassment.
The two were in conversation when the eastern fence had already risen. Everyone widened their eyes, looking in that direction, as the sound of orderly hooves came from the shadow behind the fence, leaving everyone temporarily stunned.
When the first enemy appeared in Brendel’s line of sight, he narrowed his eyes.
It was a knight, or to be precise, an iron man riding a puppet warhorse, wielding a round shield in its left hand and a spear in its right, surrounded by four-color runes.
“Type IV Cavalry Hunter.” Brendel said softly to Medisa.
“What is that?”
“An invention of the Hazell people; be careful, these things possess the strength of peak silver.” Brendel and Juliette, the female mercenary leader on one side of the arena, spoke almost simultaneously.
Hazell was located in central Vaunte, on the western border of Cruz, separated by a towering mountain range. The Hazell people were not descendants of the sages from the Saint War, said to come from another continent. Their inhabitants believed in the power of magical technology, thus they maintained the largest armed forces equipped with firearms and artillery in the entire Vaunte world.
They even had tanks and old-fashioned airplanes in their army. And Hazell and Cruz had been at war for years, but both sides had never gained any benefits on the battlefield—facing the Iron Eagle Empire, they could stand their ground; the ferocity of this country was evident.
However, when Juliette spoke those words, there was a strange emotion in her heart. She looked at the opened cage, thinking that both in reason and emotions, Brendel should first rescue Xi; but that young man didn’t, he didn’t even glance this way, which could only mean that he simply didn’t care whom he rescued first—
Because he had originally planned to rescue all of them; it didn’t matter who he saved first.
Yet her words did not elicit a response from Xi, but rather caught the attention of those young men. The enemies of peak silver strength; they saw the metallic cavalry one after another emerging from behind the fence, roughly counting, there were more than thirty of them.
The hellhounds from the first round of challenges only possessed the strength of peak silver, yet by the third round, this strength had multiplied thirty-fold in an instant.
“So many!” Someone whispered.
“This is so unfair, right?” Joeka totally forgot that he had thought it was a bit irregular for Brendel to take on Medisa alone.
“Fighting more against fewer, how despicable!” Mahler couldn’t help but grind his teeth.
“Fighting more against fewer?”
This phrase was just caught by Brendel. The young man raised his head to glance at the edge of the arena. He smiled in his heart, then turned around and pointed at those metallic knights, saying to Medisa: “Be careful of their spears; there are firing mechanisms installed from the grip to the mid-section, with actually six barrels—”
“Barrels?” The silver elf princess was bewildered.
Brendel then remembered that magical technology had only emerged in the last two to three hundred years, hurriedly explaining: “You can understand it as a sort of crossbow, but with strong penetrating power; although it wouldn’t pose too much trouble for us, it would still hurt if hit.”
“And you should pay attention to protecting your eyes and throat.”
Medisa nodded.
“Also, the four runes on their bodies will switch, indicating they are changing attack methods. Red represents burning rays, blue is for ice shields, cyan is for acceleration, and yellow is for stone coverage. Just watch out for the red; that is a ranged attack.” Brendel continued.
“Understood.” Magic was something this silver elf princess could understand easily, but she was still curious about the exquisite designs of the Hazell people.
Although the creations of Bud’s craftsman wizards were powerful, they were not as finely crafted.
She then asked, “What’s the tactic, my Lord?”
Two initial golden opponents against ten peak silvers could almost be said to be a limit, of course, she and Brendel had much more combat power compared to the average golden strength, but facing thirty peak silvers in direct confrontation would still be strenuous.
But Brendel merely shook his head: “Just protect yourself, leave the rest to me.”
The silver elf princess froze.
She then saw Brendel raise his hand and snap his fingers, the crisp sound resonating throughout the entire arena, and then everyone felt the light above them dimmed.
They instinctively looked up.
Then they were stunned.
Over two hundred wind element spiders lit up with shining holy swords covered the sky above the arena, creating a spectacular scene that silenced the surrounding uproar—
“Fighting more against fewer.” Brendel lowered his hand, looking at those young people in the distance, replied: “That’s my line.”
