Chapter 560: Immortal Beast Exhibition
This beast tamer was much younger than Lin Nuo had imagined.
Of course, when he thought of Po’er, he pictured a venerable old man with snowy hair, closer to sixty or seventy.
In reality, he had a head of black hair and appeared to be around forty.
Though, to be fair, he had no way of knowing; after all, there are twenty-year-old programmers with bald heads these days, so it was possible this master was actually Lin Nuo’s contemporary—what a stressful thought!
Upon meeting the beast tamer named Po’er, Lin Nuo and Ruo’er both politely greeted him:
“I am Lin Nuo, fortunate to meet Master Po’er.”
“I am Ruo’er, hello, Master Po’er~”
Po’er, sitting in his seat, stroked his long beard, nodded, and smiled:
“Ah, greetings to you both, I see your jade pendant. You are recommended by the immortal Dong Xiyan, correct?”
“Yes.”
Lin Nuo nodded.
“This little girl is training with Dong Xiyan, skilled in summoning, training, and communicating with immortal beasts…”
Lin Nuo acted like Ruo’er’s manager, giving a detailed introduction about her, analyzing her strengths and weaknesses like a true pro.
Ruo’er was quite pleased to hear this. After all, if the young master knew her so well, it meant he cared about her and often checked on her. How could he be so clear without that?
With her eyes squinted in delight, she became happier; if she hadn’t restrained her tail, it would have been wagging non-stop.
“What are you laughing at?”
Lin Nuo turned to ask.
“Nothing, I’m not laughing!”
“Still saying you’re not laughing? You’ve been grinning this whole time.”
“Ah, you’ve caught me! I just remembered something happy~”
“Something happy?”
Good grief, why does that line sound so familiar? Are you a beauty fox rather than a mermaid?
Here was Ruo’er, giggling while meeting an elder; even a rebellious villain like him understood proper etiquette.
It was like he had come to seek advice—he was only here to see what the master could do.
Lin Nuo turned to Po’er and said:
“Please don’t mind her; she’s just young and naive.”
“No, perhaps she really encountered something joyful. I can tell she’s genuinely delighted. Well, I’ve gotten the gist of her situation; based on what you said, she excels in immortal beast training, but I’ll need to see for myself just how skilled she is.”
“Of course, Master, there are many immortal beasts here. You can take a look at her abilities.”
Lin Nuo spoke confidently about Ruo’er’s skills; he was sure she’d impress.
“Alright, I understand about her; now, what about you, young man?” Po’er asked Lin Nuo.
“Me? I’m Lin Nuo, that’s all.”
“I know your name; I just want to understand your abilities and skills,” Po’er said, stroking his beard with a smile.
“I’m not here to seek instruction, so I don’t need to elaborate on my situation.”
Lin Nuo directly rejected the master. Was this an interview or something? An introduction? There’s no way he’d divulge his skills!
Should he tell you that he’s the future great villain intending to destroy this place, possibly including your entire family?
Not happening.
“Alright then, I won’t press further.”
Po’er didn’t pursue the matter; it was clear this young man had no intention of sharing.
He had heard a bit about who Lin Nuo was—a hero of the recent Huan Tian City events, so he assumed his skills were noteworthy.
But just from appearances, Lin Nuo didn’t give off a strong vibe at all; he looked just like an ordinary citizen.
“Now, young lady, please follow me.”
“Let me go too; since Dong Xiyan is not here, I’ll take care of her.” Lin Nuo said.
“Sure, you can come along, but please stay aside and don’t get involved in the beast area.”
Po’er reminded Lin Nuo, who nodded and agreed for the time being.
Soon, Lin Nuo and Ruo’er followed Po’er into a vast facility with plenty of space for immortal beasts.
“Wow, young master, look! That tiger has two heads! And the hawk, its wings are so huge! That spirit snake can even fly!”
Ruo’er, like a little girl from the countryside, was full of curiosity about everything.
To Lin Nuo, none of this was surprising; he had seen and experienced much.
The world is vast; all sorts of bizarre creatures exist, and immortal beasts vary widely—some looked quite terrifying.
But they were just weird on the outside; as far as strength went, most didn’t impress him much.
“You just have limited experience; you’ll encounter all sorts of immortal beasts in the future.”
Lin Nuo patted Ruo’er on the head and continued forward.
He was also paying attention, hoping to see some unique immortal beasts.
Like a super pigeon spirit, or a blue-eyed white dragon, a cow-horse hybrid, or a minotaur with “pure love” written across its chest.
Sadly, he was disappointed; none of the beasts he saw stood out enough to catch his eye.
Before long, they arrived at a training arena that was spacious and had a barrier set up. There, two young beast tamers were directing immortal beasts in battle.
Immortal beasts had their own intelligence and could often understand their tamers’ commands.
Lin Nuo had an idea; if Ruo’er could master commanding multiple immortal beasts, he should make her a card deck so she could summon and launch attacks like a true Yu-Gi-Oh! master.
Though it felt a bit childish, it was a childhood dream—a cool act of summoning monsters with cards.
“You two, hold on!”
Po’er called a halt, and the other two beast tamers complied.
The two young newcomers caught their attention.
“This young lady is called Ruo’er, currently training with the immortal Dong Xiyan, and she is here to exchange ideas and discuss immortal beasts with us.”
Po’er explained the situation to them, then handed the training ground over to Ruo’er.
“Alright, little girl, now it’s your turn to showcase your skills with immortal beasts. I’ll first summon a lower advanced-level beast for you to demonstrate.”
With that, Po’er summoned a wolf; it looked perfectly normal, no bizarre features like two heads or dozens of legs.
A typical lower advanced wolf that Lin Nuo could squish with one hand.
Facing the spirit wolf, Ruo’er took a deep breath, began to regulate her energy, and initiated a spell to summon a white tiger.
This white tiger was an immortal beast, accompanied by a surge of celestial energy upon summoning, exuding a strong aura.
“Sorry, Brother Wolf, but please allow the Tiger to show off its abilities!”
With that, Ruo’er gently patted the white tiger’s head, and the tiger, filled with vigor, immediately pounced, quickly pinning the spirit wolf to the ground.
Had it not been for the demonstration, the white tiger could have rubbed the spirit wolf into the ground for a whole day until it was done for.
“Suggest increasing the difficulty.”
Lin Nuo said to Po’er,
“This kid is far from showing her true level; she hasn’t even used any auxiliary techniques.”
