Chapter 123: The Angel with a Sword
Alice paused for a moment.
She tilted her head, seemingly pondering what had just happened.
Her full-power attack, Holy Light Slash, was enough to cut a giant dragon in half, enough to catch a griffin off guard, a bit overkill for dealing with Sequence 6.
But the opponent had dodged.
Roy wasn’t exactly having a walk in the park either.
Even without a direct hit, a patch of blood was seeping from beneath his shoulder blade.
Those ten Dragon Tooth Blades would snap like twigs, and the dragon scales mixed with his iron-clad body couldn’t withstand the opponent’s strikes. Not to mention that his power and speed were being heavily suppressed.
Roy had to constantly use Mirror Flower Water Moon to keep from being killed instantly with a single blow.
The worst part was that blinding white holy light.
Holy light could be considered the ultimate extraordinary power, but only Angels could wield it to its fullest.
As a Seraph, Alice was most adept at destruction.
Judgment and erosion, the blinding holy light symbolized the Goddess’s power of slaughter, racing through Roy’s body.
Every place touched by the light blade was incredibly painful and hard to heal, even the speed at which his dragon scales healed was slowed.
The semi-divine protection was suppressed by the angel’s holy light.
Ordinary Sequence 6 would have been done for multiple times over.
Even Sequence 5 would be cut down with a slight mistake.
The consumption of rapidly operating various extraordinary abilities goes without saying, and to avoid any missteps was like walking on thin ice, dancing on a sword, making Roy’s nerves tense to the max.
But he had more or less figured out a strategy.
He couldn’t win, but he didn’t need to.
Slaying a god was nothing but a fool’s dream, but all he needed was a strike from Fire Soul to ensure that Phoenix could touch Alice’s soul.
The power of Fire Soul was protecting Alice’s soul seed, which was the faint yet very real hope!
This time, Roy actively drew his sword against the angel, one eye roaring with dark gold.
Dragon Might!
The twin blades clashed once more, but the blonde angel wasn’t the slightest bit affected by the dragon’s intimidating presence.
Even a ruler of the skies couldn’t intimidate the sword-bearer under the Goddess.
Alice countered with a strike, and the young boy’s figure, just like before, passed by with a phantom-like step, at an extreme distance.
Despite Alice’s speed advantage, she left several sword marks on the boy but couldn’t inflict a fatal blow to determine the victor.
Roy seized the opportunity to counterattack, his eyes flowing with water-blue light.
Bard’s Illusory Song!
The mermaid’s illusion, an invisible rhythm.
Maybe it wasn’t as mighty as the dragon clan’s authority, but it was even more ethereal and difficult to defend against.
This time, the attack landed successfully, causing the unstoppable sword force to finally experience a moment of pause.
But just as Roy tried to close in, he saw the opponent suddenly speaking.
The next moment, the angel exhaled an invisible rhythm.
Song of the Mundane World!
Illusion was not the specialty of mermaids.
Destruction was not the forte of Seraphs.
While specializing in their own domains, each angel was also an all-powerful holy light mythological being!
The sacred singing voice washed over him like a warm wave, drowning out Roy’s sigh and plunging his mind into blankness.
Fortunately, his partner from the Soul World spoke up just in time: “Wake up!”
Taking advantage of the boy’s open defenses and vacant gaze, the angel’s sword blade suddenly slashed down.
But this inevitable strike once again missed, and this time, the boy had completely vanished.
The angel’s aura sank, and she activated Seraph, forcibly enhancing her senses.
But in just that moment, the boy, holding his great sword, had already arrived behind her.
Exhale, focus, transformed into a gold-red lightning, a full-power slash!
Each activation of Seraph required first gathering the holy light within, revealing a slight opening.
To outsiders, this tiny moment wouldn’t matter.
But if one was aware beforehand, it was the perfect opportunity to strike!
That’s exactly what Roy was aiming for!
Dragon Might, Bard’s Illusory Song, Still as Water, no matter what tricks, as long as it could pressure her and force her to use Seraph, it would create a momentary opening!
The angel sprang into action, trying to evade, but it was already too late.
The tip of the gold-red great sword grazed her waist.
In this hasty strike, it didn’t even break her delicate skin, but Phoenix’s soul power had already slipped through this strike, invading the depths of Alice’s soul!
A pure white world.
The blonde girl was bound tightly by chains of holy light, while the crystal-eyed goddess maintained the pose of piercing through her chest.
A ball of gold-red flame was stubbornly burning at the girl’s chest, protecting her last soul seed. But under the consumption of holy light power, this last flame was growing dimmer, like a candle about to extinguish in the wind.
Until the crimson girl appeared in this place.
“So, you’re the Holy Light Goddess? I must see what you’re all about!”
Phoenix revealed her true form, morphing into a ferocious firebird.
However, facing the vast gold-red divine fire, the goddess’s gaze was cold and devoid of emotion, simply raising her hand.
Endless halos, falling from heaven.
In that moment, even the immortal phoenix that symbolized solar supremacy showed a hint of… fear.
Pressure swelled.
Roy didn’t know what was happening, only hearing Phoenix’s painful wail echo in his mind.
“What’s going on?”
“No good, I can’t awaken her soul!”
Phoenix’s voice was pained and trembling, tinged with deep remorse: “I’m sorry, I can’t save her.”
Roy hardly had time to digest this despairing news before seeing the blonde angel raise her hand once more.
That was light.
Endless holy light transformed into blazing white sword blades, covering the sky by the thousands.
The blonde angel spread her wings, standing above the sky, cold and merciless as she waved her hand, as if announcing the judgment of the Goddess.
Rain of Light Swords.
In an instant, the torrential rain fell.
Roy immediately activated Projection Swordsmith and pushed Evil Dragon Blood Armor to its limits.
Forty-nine secret silver blades layered into a shield to block in front of him, that was the utmost limit of Iron Blood.
But compared to the endless rain of swords, it was so insignificant.
Everything deep in the canyon was engulfed by the holy white flame rain, burning, shattering, and annihilating.
Streams evaporated, the earth sank, while the cliffs on both sides once again suffered the crushing fall of giant rocks, but the boulders didn’t even hit the ground before being smashed into dust.
However, just as the aura of the opponent hadn’t yet dissipated, the angel fell along with the rain of swords, descending to deliver her final blow to the boy at the center of the downpour.
Sword Blade Storm.
The chaotic sword light rose and fell in endless waves, the astonishing sword intent even tore through the rain of swords that had nearly destroyed half the canyon.
The sturdy shield formed by secret silver blades had long been destroyed by the downpour, and the retaliatory Dragon Tooth Blade was easily sliced apart, while the fragments of scales and blood that had protected the boy rained down.
The final slash cleaved through the canyon, unstoppable, severing the mountains.
And the black-haired boy fell like a disconnected kite, plunging into the depths of the scorched earth.
In the broken canyon, everything fell into silence.
Only the angel stood still, her sword-bearing hand trembled slightly.
